6 Godly Cat Mii-chan, Interview at the Hunter’s Guild

The landlady and her husband seem to have really taken a liking to us. Her husband even went so far as to bow his head and ask me to teach him how to make it.

Of course, I gladly shared the recipe. Not because they offered free dinners and laundry service for stays longer than five nights or anything… Truly grateful, truly grateful.

I also promised to supply them with the seasoning I made from now on. I think it will taste even better with a professional’s touch, and it’s a hassle to make, so it’s a great help.

Soon, they’re going to change the lunch menu to include steak with garlic oil and sauté with ketchup. Since I’m here, I plan to enjoy it as well.

I ordered the sauté with ketchup—it was a straightforward pork sauté. It seems they added a bit of sweetness to the ketchup, and it was very delicious. As expected of professionals.

Me-chan only got a can of cat food and some mineral water. I asked if she wanted to try it, but she refused.

When lunchtime arrived, many people came looking for lunch. The more customers came, the more the smell of grilled meat wafted outside, attracting even more customers.

The landlady couldn’t handle it all by herself, so I helped out. Me-chan was charming customers from the counter, acting as the mascot of the place.

“Hey, kid. Don’t forget our deal.”

Isn’t that Gais-san from the Hunter’s Guild? He’s one of the customers drawn in by the smell.

“Hey, Dogar. Your skills have improved. If it’s this good, I’ll come every day.”

“Shut up. Keep mouthing off. Even if you don’t come, we’re doing just fine.”

Apparently, the innkeeper and Gais-san know each other. Both have wrestler-like builds, so if they got into a fight, it would be quite a spectacle. I’d kind of like to see that.

As the customers began to settle down, the landlady told me to go if I had an appointment. So, I went back to my room, changed all my clothes including my underwear, and brushed my teeth. Otherwise, Me-chan wouldn’t let me touch her. I put my laundry in the laundry bag the landlady gave me and left it in the designated place.

I grabbed my bag, picked up the curled-up Me-chan from the counter, and headed towards the Hunter’s Guild.

The guild, which had been bustling in the morning, was now quiet. Although the people loitering in the attached tavern slightly altered the atmosphere, making it feel a bit more tense.

“Hey, kid. Don’t just stand there, come over here.”

“I’m not a kid, my name is Nero.”

“Mii~”

“You’ve got a long way to go before you can talk like that, about ten years too early.”

“Meee…”

Grr… I can’t say anything back. It’s frustrating, Me-chan.

“Come on, introductions aren’t over yet. This scary guy is Gais. He’s the guild’s head supervisor.”

“Shut up. The ‘scary’ part is unnecessary.”

“And I’m Pamil, the head of the reception. Nice to meet you.”

“I’m Nero. This is Me-chan.”

“Mii~”

“Look, Gais-san! This kid is so cute! This is what we’ve been missing in the workplace!”

“What’s been missing?”

“Comfort! Relaxation! Healing! Yes, fluffiness!”

Pamil-san is an incredibly beautiful blonde woman. Compared to the other receptionists, she’s more… mature. Overflowing with adult charm… Pamil-san, making that scary face ruins your beauty.

Even in this world, there are people who love fluffiness. Fluffiness is universal.

“We have plenty of beauties in this workplace, including myself, but we lacked this cuteness. What a blind spot…”

“Who’s a beauty?”

Gais-san is amazing. In a workplace where 80% are women, he says that? You can almost see the countless glares filled with curses piercing him. This man is either a hero or a demon lord. Better be careful. Don’t want to be seen as the same kind.

“Hey, kid. Are you thinking something rude?”

“No, no. I’m just admiring you, Gais-san, thinking you must be a hero.”

“Is that so? That, that makes me blush. Wahahaha!”

Is he actually easy to handle?

“Nero-kun, you’re quite the skillful one… I underestimated you.”

What are you talking about, lady? There isn’t another pure-hearted young man like me. Right, Me-chan?

“Mii…”

Huh? Me-chan doesn’t think so… I see… orz.

“So, Nero-kun, are you interested in working here?”

“Yes. I actually aspire to be a hunter, but the old man at the weapon shop told me to train and come back. I was at a loss, and then luck smiled upon me. Being a NEET as Me-chan’s guardian doesn’t sound good either. So, I’d be happy to work hard here. But I haven’t given up on becoming a hunter.”

“I see. I don’t know what a NEET is, but that’s good. And if you work here, you can use the training grounds in the back during your free time, and we have instructors. It’s the perfect place if you want to aim to be a hunter.”

“Hah! This kid becoming a hunter? No way! He’d be dead the moment he stepped outside the city.”

Grr… Your accurate opinions are always so painful. Just wait, someday I’ll make you eat those words! I’ve always been told that I can do it if I try. I can do it. For sure… I’m starting to tear up.

“Mii~”

Thank you, Me-chan. I’ll do it! I’ll definitely do it! Probably…
