17: Godly Cat, Mii-chan, Becomes a Bargain Master

The “Mii-chan Bag” has a divine specification that can store anything. Curious, I asked Mii-chan to try and put me inside. Surprisingly, I fit in, but I don’t remember anything from my time inside. It’s so incredible that I’m left speechless. If I stay inside the bag, I could potentially travel to the distant future. However, there’s a risk of Mii-chan forgetting about me, leaving me stuck inside forever. It’s dangerous…

I asked Mii-chan what was inside the bag, and a translucent panel appeared, listing the contents—pretty pebbles, broken balls, and so on. They seem to be Mii-chan’s treasures. The bag’s capacity is infinite, so it’s not a problem. However, Mii-chan seems to have forgotten about half of the items.

With the worry of carrying luggage now gone, I decided to consult with the landlady. When I went downstairs, breakfast was ready. The menu seemed to be galette, filled with vegetables, meat, and mayo—quite filling and delicious.

While watching Mii-chan nibble on her cat food, I explained to the landlady that I would be going to the neighboring town for a while starting the day after tomorrow. She kindly offered to roll over the room charge to my return. I’m grateful.

After Mii-chan finished eating, we went on a shopping spree at the general store and hardware store. We bought dishes, cups, cutlery sets, rain gear, a blanket, a fire-starting kit, a large water bottle, and a small tent that I probably won’t use.

For lunch, I decided to eat at a stall in the square while feeding Mii-chan. Although I received some funds for preparation, I’m worried about money. I need to think of a way to raise funds.

After lunch, I decided to wander around a bazaar, using my appraisal skill to find valuable items. Unfortunately, I only found a moderately valuable ring. Appraising each item is tiring; having some real-life appraisal skills would make it easier, but I don’t have those.

As a last resort, I carefully appraised items at shops selling weapons and armor. I managed to buy two long swords, one short sword, a breastplate, a leather armor, and a shield from two shops for 70,000 Leto.

This bartering venture could be quite risky if it fails—it’s a bit of a gamble.

Carrying my items and Mii-chan, I arrived at the familiar weapon shop.

“What do you want? I already told you, you’re too young for this stuff,” the shopkeeper said right off the bat. Doesn’t he want to make a sale?

“Today, I’m here to sell and request some repairs.”

“Oh? Let’s see what you’ve got.”

I placed the two long swords, breastplate, and shield on the counter. The shopkeeper examined the swords, drawing and swinging them.

“These are good swords. Fine pieces made from Darles steel. Where did you get them?”

“I collected them on my way to this town. In the end, I decided to sell them since I can’t use them myself.”

“Figured as much… Can I buy them all?”

“Sure. I’ve kept the items I want for myself.”

“Hmm…”

The shopkeeper thought for a moment.

“How about 520,000 Leto?”

Wow, that’s seven times what I paid… But I should try to get a bit more. I pretended to hesitate and said,

“How about 600,000 Leto?”

“Ugh, 540,000 Leto.”

“600,000 Leto,” I insisted.

“F-fine, 550,000 Leto!” the shopkeeper countered.

“Alright, if you can include the repair costs and a discount on my purchases, we have a deal,” I negotiated.

“Deal! So, what do you need repaired?”

I placed the AF dagger, the short sword I bought earlier, and the leather armor on the counter.

“What’s this? Hmm, not bad… actually, this is amazing!”

Of course, it is—it’s an AF dagger, a holy silver short sword, and wyvern leather armor.

“How long will it take to clean these up?”

“The dagger and short sword can be ready by tomorrow, but the leather armor will need a specialist. The lining is falling apart, and it needs to be resized. I’ll introduce you to a craftsman who can handle it.”

“Alright, please take care of the dagger and short sword. Also, I’m looking for a cloak.”

“I’ll take care of the swords. Come back tomorrow evening to pick them up. As for the cloak, I just got a new one in.”

What he showed me was more like a hooded coat than a cloak. It was a dark grey, almost black, and looked really stylish. It should be fine in light rain without needing additional rain gear. Of course, I bought it immediately.

The total came to 55,000 Leto for the buyback, and he gave me a discount on the repairs and coat, reducing the cost from 70,000 to 50,000 Leto. So, I ended up with a net profit of 500,000 Leto. Turning my initial 70,000 into 500,000—lucky indeed!

“Mii~”

The craftsman the shopkeeper recommended is located in the craftsman district, so I’ll visit him tomorrow.

I have to go to work soon, so I’ll finish the rest of my shopping tomorrow.

The buyback counter is busy as always today.

“Thinking that Neiro-kun won’t be around for a while makes me want to go with you,” Solas-san said, leaving me unsure if she was joking or serious. But the worst are the other women here. They’re saying things like “Leave Mii-chan here” or “Let us take care of Mii-chan,” all while making outrageous requests. Even when leaving, they wouldn’t let go of Mii-chan, making it hard for me to separate them.

“Mii-chan, come back safely~”

“Take care of yourself.”

“If anything happens, use Neiro as a shield.”

“Mii-chan~”

Some of them are saying absurd things. Isn’t there anyone here worried about me?

“Neiro-kun,” Pamiru-san called out.

Oh, you’re the only one!

“Come to the guild tomorrow evening. I have something to give you.”

That’s all?…

Let’s go home, Mii-chan.

“Mii~”
