Story of Rebellion
The divine palace above the clouds of Olympus.
The palace of the gods, revered by mortals. Once half-destroyed by Typhon, it was now facing another crisis.
Was it due to an external enemy as powerful as Typhon? Was it due to an invasion by Cronus or the Gigantes or the Titans?
"Damn it... What are you doing, Uncle?"
None of these reasons.
"Isn't it obvious, nephew? Zeus's reign is over." "Apollo, why are you standing on their side?" "My beloved sister. Our father, who chases after mortal women rather than our mother or Lady Hera, no longer..."
It was due to a civil war over the throne of the king of the gods.
While Zeus slept, his lightning bolt was hidden, and his muscular body was bound with tough leather straps. He woke up bewildered, but the situation was already beyond his control.
Poseidon, Apollo, and Hera imprisoned Zeus in a building on Olympus and gathered the gods. They intended to depose Zeus and proclaim a new king of the gods.
"Don't be ridiculous! I oppose this!" "Ares, one opposition won't change the situation." "Mother!"
"Brother Apollo, please think this through carefully." "Hermes, I've acted after much contemplation." "You are the god of reason. Is this really..."
"Must we do this amongst ourselves? Poseidon? We still face the threat of the Gigantes..." "A god who loses to Typhon despite having the power of the sky doesn't deserve to be above me, Hestia."
The great gods of Olympus were divided into two factions. One supported Poseidon as the new king, and the other aimed to rescue Zeus from the building where he was confined.
"What are you all doing? We must fight to rescue Father!"
The war god, Ares, seemed ready to charge at any moment. Other gods also tensed up, channeling their divine power and reaching for their weapons.
Athena's spear gleamed, and Hermes seemed determined as he imbued his caduceus with power.
But...
"Hmm. That's good. Instead of talking, prove your will through strength. I'll take you on with this trident."
"Ugh..." "Uncle, are you serious?" "Damn it, how can we defeat Lord Poseidon..."
Poseidon casually brandished his trident, causing everyone to hesitate.
Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. The three prime gods were on a different level of strength compared to other gods.
They were so powerful that even if all the other gods joined forces, they couldn't defeat one of the three prime gods.
"Aargh! We won't know until we try!!"
Ares, glaring at the gods supporting Zeus, shouted in anger. His body radiated intense red divine power as he drew his sword and charged at Poseidon...
Clang! Boom!
"Tch..!" "You're impudent, nephew, to challenge the new king of Olympus."
Poseidon swung his trident with unseen speed. Blue divine power, like a wave, crashed into the challenger.
Ares's sword was shattered by the sharp trident, clearly demonstrating the difference in power. The war god, sensing defeat, could only retreat.
"Is there any other god who opposes me becoming the ruler?"
Poseidon raised his trident and pointed to the golden throne. It was the highest of the twelve thrones, where Zeus usually sat.
Only the king of the gods could sit there.
With Zeus's supporters falling into a dismal silence, a tense stillness pervaded Olympus. Seeing the silent gods, Poseidon, with a satisfied expression, stroked his beard and declared.
"Then we shall now exile Zeus..."
"I oppose."
"I oppose."
"What...?" "No, how can there be no presence felt!" "I didn't hear anything from the winds..."
The sudden voice caused all the gods on Olympus to stir. It came from an empty space with no detectable presence.
"You intend to hinder me..."
But the experienced gods who had fought in the wars against the Gigantes and Titans recognized the voice. This concealment from the gods' senses was allowed to only one god...
"This is the Helm of Darkness... Lord of the Underworld!" "I said I'd treat you well..." "Uncle Hades!"
A god with black hair and black eyes appeared, holding an old helmet and a bident. Despite his shabby appearance and tired expression, no one could underestimate him.
"Hades! Join us now, and I'll give you dominion over the seas, excluding the sky!" "I don't need such things, stop the rebellion."
He was Hades, one of the three prime gods, equal to Poseidon.
I arrived just in time. Thankfully, I came to Olympus quickly after hearing Thetis's words.
I almost didn't make it before Zeus was deposed. Where is Zeus?
"Lord Hades!" "....Uncle! Poseidon has gone mad!" "Did you come from the Underworld?"
Zeus's supporters looked at me with relieved expressions. Ares, why are you covered in dust and your sword broken... You must have tried to fight Poseidon and got struck down.
On the other hand, Hera and Apollo, on Poseidon's side, looked defeated. Did you think I wouldn't intervene so quickly?
"Hmm..." "Poseidon, do you want to fight me too?"
As I pointed my bident at him, Poseidon grimaced.
If he could defeat me, the throne of the king of the gods was within his reach. But Poseidon wasn't that foolish.
A fight between me and Poseidon, neither in the sea nor the Underworld, would be a stalemate. Even if I had a slight advantage with the Helm of Darkness, he was still one of the three prime gods.
Hera and Apollo alone couldn't defeat all these gods. Poseidon's forces were clearly outnumbered.
While I held off Poseidon, other gods could subdue Hera and Apollo and free Zeus, ending the rebellion.
"Looks like Zeus is locked up in that building." "How did you get here from the Underworld..." "Thetis informed me."
Hera, is there any reason I shouldn't be in Olympus?
"No... Uncle Hades." "What."
Apollo, save the expression you made before Typhon's head was put in Tartarus.
Poseidon's overwhelming presence, like a stormy wave, gradually subsided. His trident slowly lowered to the ground.
"Damn... Fine. I'll back down." "Poseidon!" "What else can we do, Hera? If we couldn't exile Zeus before Hades intervened, we've lost."
Poseidon's face looked as if he had just bitten into a stone while drinking nectar, as he retreated.
I guess Zeus is in that building?
Entering the building, I saw Zeus bound with tough leather straps reinforced with divine power. He looked relieved upon seeing me.
"Brother Hades, did you come to rescue me?" "You've caused me a lot of trouble." "If it weren't for the ambush while I was asleep..."
The leather straps were cut by my bident, and Zeus reclaimed his lightning. Thus, the rebellion on Olympus was suppressed.
"As always, Poseidon was filled with ambition. But how could you, Hera, do this! Apollo, you too!" "I'm sorry, Father..." "Silence! You will serve as a slave under a human king for a year! Poseidon too!"
Apollo and Poseidon left Olympus with dark expressions. Zeus's eagle would oversee their servitude.
"And... Hera, you will be bound with an anvil on your ankle and shackles on your wrists for a year!" "...Do as you wish."
Zeus was furious that the rebellion almost succeeded. His anger echoed with thunder across the skies.
Mortals would be terrified, thinking Zeus was angry at them, while it was merely the god of lightning venting his frustration over his authority being challenged.
Zeus, still seething, finally turned to me.
"Sigh... And I must thank you again, Brother Hades." "If you hadn't been unfaithful, Hera wouldn't have done this." "Regardless, those who challenge my throne cannot be forgiven."
Isn't this entirely your fault? Though, admittedly, Zeus is more suited to be the king of the gods than Poseidon...
"If your son even rebelled, perhaps you should reflect on your behavior..." "Hmph! I never expected Apollo to do this..."
As I spoke with Zeus, other gods began to gather. It seemed they had finished cleaning up and restoring the damage caused by the rebellion.
"Uncle Hades! Thank you so much this time." "I never thought you would come to aid Zeus." "If the Lord of the Underworld hadn't helped, it could have been dangerous."
The gods looked at me with eyes filled with admiration, like chicks looking at their mother hen.
Finally, they appreciated the Underworld.
Now, it's time to fulfill Hephaestus's request. I summoned my bident and proudly showed it to them.
"Ah... That was the weapon you were holding when you appeared without the Helm of Darkness..." "I've never seen such a weapon, but it feels extraordinary." "Hades, did the Cyclopes make this for you?"
Naturally, they were curious about the source of my powerful weapon.
Let me inform everyone. Though Hephaestus isn't here...
"This is a bident made for me by Hephaestus, the greatest blacksmith and one of the twelve Olympian gods, far surpassing the Cyclopes. It can be summoned from afar at any time, unlike Ares's shattered sword, and rivals Poseidon's trident. I've tested it against my Helm of Darkness multiple times..."
Zeus and the others looked at me in awe...
Clearly, they were envious of my bident.
