How to Have a Baby Secretly - C2

Sunwoo gathered his thoughts and began to assess the situation. After rummaging through his belongings, including his phone, he came to some important realizations:

He had been transported into the BL novel “To the Gentle Tyrant” that he had been overseeing as an editor.

Of all characters, he had possessed Secretary Choi Sunwoo, an extra character, not even the main protagonist.

Secretary Choi was a recessive Omega and was pregnant.

It seemed the father of the child was likely his superior at work, Director Kang Jinwook.

Kang Jinwook was an obsessive, possessive character.

Therefore, if Kang Jinwook found out about the pregnancy, it would mean death.

Based on this information, Sunwoo came to the following conclusion:

‘To survive, I must run away.’

It was already absurd to wake up and find himself transported into a novel, but to be pregnant on top of that, and with the child of a slightly unhinged superior at that. Rather than lingering around and risking death, escaping was the best option.

Wondering how to successfully escape, Sunwoo decided he should first talk to the doctor.

* * *

“Legally, abortion is difficult.”

When Sunwoo hesitated on how to phrase his thoughts in the doctor’s office, the doctor seemed to misunderstand and said this cautiously.

“No! I wasn’t thinking about that at all.”

Sunwoo shook his head vigorously, looking flustered.

“I’m just… worried about what to do from now on.”

A wise way to escape, things like that.

“Ah… Do you know who the other biological guardian of the fetus is?”

When Sunwoo shook his head again, the doctor’s expression turned sympathetic, as if thinking something else entirely.

“If you can’t get help elsewhere, how about using a government-run program?”

“A government-run program?”

“Yes. There are systems in place for pregnant individuals who have difficulty getting support from family or a partner.”

The doctor advised.

“No, I don’t need anything like that.”

Sunwoo immediately shook his head. Though an extra character, the original Choi Sunwoo was quite well-off financially. So he didn’t want to risk exposing his information by accepting government aid.

“Instead, may I ask for one favor?”

“Of course. Anything.”

The doctor nodded, willing to help.

“Can you continue to be my doctor, just like this?”

“Pardon?”

“Due to my circumstances… it would be troublesome if my pregnancy became known. Would that be difficult?”

The doctor’s expression turned perplexed. It couldn’t be helped, as her specialty was family medicine.

After pondering, the doctor nodded as if making a big decision.

“No, if that’s what you want, I’ll do it. I have enough influence to manage that, you know.”

A confident smile spread across the doctor’s face.

A rut-driven extreme dominant Alpha is dangerous. Even suppressants can’t control it. That’s why they need an Omega to soothe the rut.

When Secretary Choi realized Director Kang Jinwook was in rut, he secretly visited the hotel where Director Kang Jinwook was staying.

In the darkened hotel, with Director Kang Jinwook not in his right mind due to the rut, it became possible. That’s how the original Secretary Choi ended up pregnant from one night with Director Kang Jinwook.

In the original story, Secretary Choi, not knowing his place, tried to use the pregnancy as leverage and met a ruinous fate.

‘It’s fortunate that Director Kang Jinwook doesn’t know about the pregnancy yet.’

Sunwoo looked down at his stomach. It was flat. No matter how he looked, there were no signs of pregnancy.

‘This must be fate too…’

In truth, Sunwoo was a lonely coward. Though he craved affection, he was afraid of getting close to people and couldn’t easily open his heart. Perhaps this child was a twist of fate for someone like Sunwoo.

Fortunately, Secretary Choi had a substantial inheritance left by wealthy parents. So there would be no problem raising a child alone.

As the doctor said, using government programs was an option, but that risked being discovered by Kang Jinwook. So it was better to just use the existing money freely without seeking other help.

‘Alright! Let’s go to a quiet place, have the baby, and live peacefully!’

Sunwoo decided. Since things had come to this, he would avoid the obsessive tyrant, have the child, and live happily together, just the two of them.

* * *

Sunwoo rested well while receiving nutrients and was discharged that evening. The place he arrived at by taxi was in front of a tall residential-commercial complex.

“It really is different…”

Prime real estate in Gangnam. And the very top floor at that. This was the home of Secretary Choi in the original story. Sunwoo hesitated for a moment before trying Kang Jinwook’s birthday on the keypad.

When the lock opened smoothly, he let out an exasperated sigh. Shaking his head with a face full of unspoken words, Sunwoo opened the door and went inside.

“Wow! It’s huge.”

Sunwoo gasped at the living room that was as big as a playground. Expensive furniture was placed throughout the room.

Why would someone this rich choose to become the secretary of an obsessive tyrant like Director Kang Jinwook?

‘Love at first sight is a scary thing.’

That’s right. Secretary Choi had fallen for Director Kang Jinwook. That’s why he joined Taesung Construction to become his secretary. All of Alpha Director Kang Jinwook’s secretaries were Betas. So Secretary Choi lied about being a Beta too.

For three years, Secretary Choi stayed by Director Kang Jinwook’s side as his secretary.

All the while, Secretary Choi was pining away in one-sided love when he learned that Director Kang Jinwook was showing special interest in an Omega. That Omega was the main character, Lim Haewon.

Blinded by jealousy, Secretary Choi ultimately made the extreme decision to get pregnant.

‘Lying about being a Beta and then doing something so reckless.’

Sunwoo shook his head. He would never do such a thing. People should only do things they can take responsibility for.

That’s what he had learned in his thirty-one years of life.

Sunwoo walked across the spacious living room. This should be where the bedroom is?

“Wow…”

When he opened the door, he saw a large window. In front of it, a clear night view spread out. The sparkling city could be seen at a glance.

“It’s my first time being this high up.”

Sunwoo approached the window as if entranced. With such an open view, his heart felt grand, and for some reason, he felt like he could do anything from here.

“Alright! Let’s quit tomorrow!”

Sunwoo cheered himself on as he climbed onto the large bed. The blanket felt as light and fluffy as a cloud.

‘Being transported like this has its perks.’

Sunwoo, who had fallen asleep on a dusty bed after two weeks of hellish overtime, thought positively.

‘Well, since things have turned out this way, let’s enjoy everything we can.’

A rich unemployed person. Isn’t that everyone’s dream at some point?

* * *

The next morning, when Sunwoo woke up to the alarm and entered the bathroom, he was startled.

“I’m still not used to this…”

Why did they have to name the character Choi Sunwoo?

When he first received the work, he had considered mentioning this to the author since it was the same as his own name. But he couldn’t ask for it to be changed for personal reasons when the author had chosen it.

‘If I had known this would happen, I should have said something.’

Of course, he couldn’t have known, so it couldn’t be helped.

Sunwoo avoided the unfamiliar face in the mirror that he still wasn’t used to and quickly finished washing up.

“Wow…”

Sunwoo exclaimed again when he went to the dressing room. It was also full of clothes he would never have worn before being transported into this world.

Nothing but expensive suits, watches, and shoes.

The days of rotating through 3 cheap brand suits, 5 dress shirts, and 4 inexpensive ties for a week briefly flashed through Sunwoo’s mind.

‘My goodness…’

Sunwoo swallowed hard. He looked through the clothes hanging on the system hanger and chose a stylish navy suit to wear.

“It looks good on me.”

There wasn’t much description of Secretary Choi in the work since he was an extra character. Just that he was hiding the fact that he was a recessive Omega.

But his face was quite decent, and his height and figure weren’t bad either.

He seemed to have a neat rather than pretty face, which probably allowed him to pass as a Beta when he claimed to be one.

“How could someone so normal-looking do such a thing?”

Sunwoo clicked his tongue, looking at his neatly dressed appearance.

“He should have at least tried confessing.”

Of course, if he had, Director Kang Jinwook wouldn’t have stood for it. He would have told him to quit immediately. That’s probably why he resorted to the foolish act of blackmail using the child.

Still, he should have thought about the future before making such a reckless move.

* * *

Sunwoo checked his appearance one more time and left the house. It was a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the officetel to the company.

Usually, he would have walked to save on transportation costs. But Sunwoo spotted an approaching taxi and raised his hand without hesitation.

He had to be careful with his body now that he was pregnant.

“Taxi!”

After crawling through traffic jams and waiting at signals, the taxi finally stopped in front of the building. Sunwoo paid the fare and got out. The tall building before him was the headquarters of Taesung Construction.

Sunwoo took a deep breath and entered the building. It was rush hour, so there were quite a few office workers around.

‘It’s really packed.’

This was the big company commute he had only imagined. Feeling awkward, Sunwoo checked his clothes once more and squeezed into the crowded elevator.

Director Kang Jinwook’s private office was on the 48th floor. By the time the elevator slowly stopped at its destination after stopping at each floor, Sunwoo felt drained.

“Secretary Choi, what brings you here at this time?”

Just as he stepped out of the elevator, he heard a surprised voice. It was the woman he had seen at the hospital.

He didn’t know who she was then, but now he did!

She was Secretary Jo, who assisted Director Kang Jinwook along with Sunwoo. She was Sunwoo’s senior by a year and his direct superior.

“Good morning, Secretary Jo.”

Sunwoo quickly bowed his head. Secretary Jo wore an ambiguous expression.

“Oh, yes. Sunwoo. Are you feeling better?”

“Yes, I’m fine.”

“That’s good. You have no idea how shocked I was when you suddenly fainted in front of the director.”

Secretary Jo gave him a look that seemed to say, ‘That was all an act, wasn’t it?’ Sunwoo smiled awkwardly.

Come to think of it, Secretary Jo had said something similar at the hospital. He didn’t understand then, but he did now.

Whether fainting in front of Director Kang Jinwook was intentional or due to the strain of pregnancy, the current Sunwoo couldn’t know. But regardless of the truth, it wasn’t particularly important now.

“Yes, as you can see. I was discharged in the evening.”

Despite Sunwoo’s polite response, Secretary Jo couldn’t hide her skeptical expression.

“Well then, I’ll be going.”

Sunwoo bowed his head again and walked past Secretary Jo.

“I’ve tidied up the director’s desk. Sunwoo, please check and restock any missing supplies in the secretarial office.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

Sunwoo quickly responded to Secretary Jo’s instructions and hurried his steps.

Entering the secretarial office, Sunwoo looked around and easily found his desk. Helpfully, there was a nameplate on the partition that read ‘Employee Choi Sunwoo’.

Sunwoo turned on the computer as soon as he put down his bag. It booted up quickly, suggesting good specs. There was no additional password.

Sunwoo immediately opened a document program and typed quickly.

Letter of Resignation

The content, stating a wish to resign due to personal reasons, was written concisely yet politely.

Tick. Tick.

After scanning the document with his eyes, Sunwoo moved the mouse to click the print button.

Whirr.

The printer right next to him made a sound as it printed out the few lines of text.

Finally confirming that the printing was complete, Sunwoo stood up and picked up the paper.

Sunwoo scanned the printed content once more.

‘No typos, clean sentences, this should do!’

Following his long-standing habit of checking his writing, Sunwoo smiled satisfactorily and looked up. And then froze with that smile.

“What are you doing?”

Director Kang Jinwook was standing in front of the secretarial office, staring at him with a cold expression.
