Zhang Shaoqing woke up with a splitting headache.

He opened his eyes and saw the ceiling fan above him trembling, as if it might fall at any moment.

There was a rustling sound next to his ears.

He turned his head and saw the legs of a chair.

He looked up along the legs and saw Ning Chu’s white feet stepping on the chair.

“You’re still up?”

Ning Chu, who was squatting on a chair playing on the computer, shuddered and suddenly turned around to look at him with a look of worry and vigilance.

He quickly put down his feet and put on slippers.

“What time is it?”

“Three in the morning.”

Zhang Shaoqing clutched his head as he sat up, noticing Ning Chu’s luggage nearby: “Are you planning to go home?”

No, he was planning to run away if things went south.

But now, it seemed like Zhang Shaoqing was behaving normally?

“Just packing away some useless stuff while I have time.”

“Want some water?” Ning Chu turned around and handed him a glass of cool water.

“Sure.”

The dorm room fell silent again.

Zhang Shaoqing drank the water quietly and then sat on the bamboo mat on the floor, playing with his phone.

Ning Chu couldn’t focus on his TV show, glancing down at him from time to time.

He still seemed pretty down.

If it were a normal day, Zhang Shaoqing would already be teasing him with a mischievous smile.

It was the middle of the night, and Wen Yang had already gone to bed.

He usually had a regular schedule and couldn’t stay up past midnight, while Ning Chu often pulled all-nighters, especially on holidays.

“I’ve been wondering, what’s wrong with me?” Zhang Shaoqing suddenly said, seemingly talking to himself.

Ning Chu almost instinctively shook his head: “There’s nothing wrong with you!”

He looked at Zhang Shaoqing, trying to find some strengths in this blond-haired guy: “You’re handsome, generous, outgoing…”

In a world full of good-looking people, looks didn’t stand out much, and as for personality… Well, he was outgoing, not exactly everyone’s favorite, but definitely not hated.

So maybe his only real advantage was his generosity.

Ning Chu paused, trying to find the right words: “Maybe you’re not her type. From what I’ve seen, both Wen Yang and her current boyfriend have tall, stable-looking builds. You’re more refined-looking and lively…”

Zhang Shaoqing nodded thoughtfully: “You really want to go the route of a caring sister.”

“…”

“I’m going to the bathroom.”

He got up and headed to the balcony.

Ning Chu finally relaxed a bit.

At least he was still able to joke around, unlike last night when he seemed on the verge of a breakdown.

“What a mess,” he sighed, putting the suitcase back into the wardrobe. “At least I dodged another bullet.”

No immediate threat of being targeted now~~

Feeling much better, Ning Chu was overcome with a wave of fatigue.

The dual exhaustion of body and mind over the past few days was catching up to him. Yawning, he shut down his computer and prepared to go to bed.

As for Zhang Shaoqing’s mental health, at least for now, it didn’t seem too bad.

He’d check again in the morning.

When he woke up, he heard the pitter-patter of rain outside.

His body felt extremely heavy, and he could barely open his eyes.

Weak and sore all over, he turned over in bed, letting out a hot breath.

Struggling to open his eyes, he weakly called down to Wen Yang: “What time is it?”

“Noon. Stayed up late again last night?”

“Yeah, until three.” He glanced around the dorm. “Where’s Shaoqing?”

“Went out.”

Went out?!

Was it safe to let Zhang Shaoqing out in this state?

He might have already turned dark and was just hiding it, going out to harm girls!

Ning Chu jolted awake, trying to get out of bed in a hurry but collapsing back down weakly.

This was bad!

After running around with Wen Yang under the sun for part-time work, his body was already exhausted.

In addition, he stayed up late last night and drank some wine, which lowered his immunity…

It seems he’s sick?!

“Wen Yang, Wen Yang!” He called down anxiously. “Do you know where Shaoqing went?”

“He probably went home. I didn’t see him this morning, but his car keys were gone.”

Wen Yang finally looked up at him and noticed his feverish, red face.

Smiling, he asked, “Your face is red, got a fever?”

“Seems like it…”

“???”

Wen Yang was stunned, almost thinking Ning Chu was just joking.
