Although it is food that fattens the body, hobbies satiate the hunger of the soul.
Just as one must regularly partake in three meals a day to keep the body healthy,
one’s soul might succumb to illness at any time if one does not enjoy a hobby.
Some are engrossed in games, some in sports such as soccer or basketball. There are countless hobbies on Earth. Also, hobbies can suddenly come to us as if by fate.
Even hobbies that you’ve avoided all your life because they didn’t seem to match you can become irresistible once you engage with them accidentally. It’s like being chosen by the hobby.
My hobby is TRPG.
It’s a tabletop role-playing game.
If I were to explain it to those unfamiliar, it’s the original version of the playing house or drawing RPGs in a notebook.
Back in college, I reluctant to embarked on TPRG because of a girlfriend I was dating.
I still have vivid memories. My first session was ‘The Lost Mine of Phandelver,’ and my first character was Barbarian ‘Barian,’ who referred to himself in the third person and wielded leftover mammoth bones as weapons.
Barbarian Barian’s fantasy advenure was inevitably ruined, despite the many twists and turns.
Just as a classic remains so even when summarized, a ruined story retains a certain charming aura even when condensed. Barbarian Barian met his end as a victim of a northern knight, a handsome 16-year-old sword master at level 20. I broke up with my girlfriend as the session ended.
Although I briefly wallowed in the pain of heartbreak, I fell in love with the new pastime of TRPG.
Its infinite freedom and scalability for expanding the wings of imagination, the unity and satisfaction of creating stories by interacting with others…
There were villains who used this limitless freedom to ruin my mood, many indeed. But the risks were small compared to the returns.
TRPG, my love, my light, my life, my rest, my soul…
My singular salvation that heals my soul exhausted from the rigors of life!
Despite the numerous times it has caused heartache, the pleasure of TRPG was a part of my life.
Even now, as I lie dying after being hit by a car, I think of TRPG before anything else.
If there’s a next life,
And if I can choose the hobby of my next life,
I would once again choose TRPG…
I wish my life’s hobby had just been exercise.
How did I fall into a hobby like this?
Damn it.

“So, you mean TRPG…is about using illusion magic to create a world and then proceed with it?”
“Yes.”
Even in my reincarnation, I couldn’t sever the ties.
