How one defines a VTuber can vary from person to person.
Given that VTubing is a relatively new profession and not yet mainstream content, opinions are bound to differ.
Still, there is a general understanding.
VTubing involves "using a virtual model during broadcasts" and "having a unique character persona." At the very least, these two elements are necessary to be considered a VTuber.
Ultimately, VTubing is a job where "the performer and the audience share an agreed-upon fiction."
There are VTubers with personas of being an 8000-year-old demon, descendants of dragons, or even beings that have lived in humanity's dreams.
Of course, no viewer actually believes these personas are real.
It’s all just a concept to make the broadcast more entertaining. A tool to help viewers immerse themselves in the show.
Most VTubers don’t even commit to role-playing that seriously.
Or rather, it might be more accurate to say that the structure of VTubing doesn’t allow for consistent role-play.
How can VTubers, who aren’t professional actors, maintain a constant stream of lies and performances? If they were that talented, they would have become actors instead.
Plus, putting in the effort to maintain such a character is exhausting. If you have the energy for such intense role-play, wouldn’t it be more productive to prepare content for the next broadcast?
Moreover, VTubers often feel the urge to share their true stories with their audience. And viewers, too, want to see the real side of VTubers.
In the end, VTubing is a bizarre form of streaming, where both VTubers and viewers crave the truth within a web of agreed-upon lies.
So, no one really believed that Aurora was a villainess exiled from a ducal family.
It was just a concept for the show.
After all, how could that girl who guzzles pork soup in the morning while grunting “Pork soup, yum!” be a noble lady?
Sometimes, she does give off a vibe of being a rich girl, but when you see her mixing canned tuna into plain rice and devouring it, it just feels like a passing thought.
“I really am a duchess’s daughter, though.”
Aurora shrugged.
Her jet-black hair, reminiscent of the night sky. Her doll-like features, and slightly unsettling crimson eyes.
At home, dressed in a gown, she truly looked like a noble lady, and she resembled her VTuber model quite closely.
“Not that it matters if you don’t believe me.”
Aurora muttered to herself.
There’s probably no one in this world who has never told a lie. Aurora, too, lives her life with her own share of lies.
But perhaps, Virtual Talent Aurora is the most truthful VTuber in this world and the one who lies the least.
Because, in reality, she was indeed a duchess’s daughter.
“Ah, but I wasn’t really exiled, was I?”
Thinking back, it seems she was never actually exiled. But that’s just a minor detail, isn’t it?
Aurora.
It’s been three years since she, who was possessed by the villainess of another world, returned to Earth.
