Lindsey looked at Rosalyn sitting in front of her.

“Lindsey, it’s been a while.”

Rosalyn greeted Lindsey with a smile. Always kind, the saintess of the Kesion Marquis family.

Despite being the same age as Lindsey, Rosalyn’s face showed no signs of hardship. It seemed as if all the world’s troubles had avoided her. The freshness of someone who was loved radiated from her.

“Yeah.”

Lindsey squinted her eyes. She wanted to control her expression, but it wasn’t easy.

‘So, I’ve finally met her too.’

Rosalyn Kesion had always been a difficult presence for her.

Unlike her other siblings, Rosalyn had been kind to her.

‘She wasn’t always kind from the start.’

In their childhood.

Rosalyn was as cruel to her as the other siblings.

“Does it smell because of your dirty blood?”

“How can you be so ugly?! Your eyes look monstrous, just like your vulgar mother.”

The pure cruelty of childhood made the bullying even more vicious. Rosalyn had the ruthlessness of a child who knew nothing.

But at some point, Rosalyn changed completely. She became the only person in the Kesion Marquis family who would smile at Lindsey.

However, Lindsey could never forget the verbal abuse she had endured from Rosalyn during their childhood.

‘Even if it wasn’t that, something always felt off.’

When Lindsey met Rosalyn, she would often get hurt or cry.

Things that weren’t her fault would all become her fault.

‘I had to be scolded for reasons I couldn’t understand.’

The Marquis of Kesion always sided with Rosalyn. She was his most cherished, capable daughter.

“Lindsey, you have no idea how shocked I was to hear about you at the academy. They say Azhet proposed breaking off the engagement.”

Lindsey narrowed her eyes.

Rosalyn and Azhet had been close friends since childhood.

Before she was reborn as Han Ji-yoo, Lindsey had been jealous of that fact. Azhet, who was always cold to her, was kind to Rosalyn.

Lindsey put on a bored expression.

In the past, she might have felt jealousy at Rosalyn’s mention of Azhet, but now it was all just tiresome.

“Rosalyn.”

At Lindsey’s low voice, Rosalyn’s gaze turned to her.

“You’ve got it wrong. I was the one who proposed breaking off the engagement with Azhet.”

“What?! What do you mean by that?!”

“I’m the one who suggested breaking off the engagement with Azhet. I don’t love him anymore.”

Rosalyn’s lips tightened.

After seeming deep in thought for a moment, Rosalyn smiled brightly.

She cautiously took Lindsey’s hand and began to stroke it.

“You must have gone through a lot. You really liked Azhet. It must have been so hard for you to say something like that…”

Don’t deceive yourself.

Aren’t you actually struggling so much you feel like dying?

You’re lying because it’s too hard to bear.

Rosalyn’s eyes seemed to convey those thoughts. That’s why Lindsey disliked Rosalyn.

“Don’t worry, Lindsey. I’ve come all this way to help you with your breakup.”

“…”

“You’re still not used to using divine power, right? I’ve come to help you with the difficult healings. Father asked me to.”

Lindsey smiled without responding to Rosalyn’s words.

Rosalyn was always kind to her, but it always felt like she wanted Lindsey to be unhappy.

Even now, it was the same.

If you listened carefully to Rosalyn’s words, she was belittling Lindsey.

‘I used to think that was just my inferiority complex.’

Because she didn’t want to doubt the only person who was kind to her.

But now she knew. The dark malice hidden in Rosalyn’s heart. Lindsey wasn’t someone who avoided a fight when it was brought to her.

“Sure, Rosalyn. It’d be nice if there’s something you could help with. If you can handle my divine power, that is.”

Rosalyn’s face froze with a smile.

She doubted her ears.

What did Lindsey just say?

“What do you mean by that?”

“I mean my divine power is superior to yours. So I don’t need your help.”

Lindsey’s demeanor was relaxed. Rosalyn momentarily forgot what to say. Her face, which had been smiling brightly, twisted into an ugly scowl.

“You…”

“If you have nothing more to say, I’ll be off. See you at the hunting grounds.”

Lindsey didn’t give her a chance to respond.

As if their business was concluded, she stood up and left.

That wretch! Rosalyn couldn’t contain her anger. She tried to steady her trembling hands.

The humiliating words Lindsey had said the day before lingered in her mind.

“Lady. The wretch has arrived.”

Normally, she would have told the maids not to call her that, even as a formality.

But now she said nothing. Rosalyn’s gaze turned to Lindsey.

She saw Raysis and Lindsey walking into the hunting grounds together.

‘They’re coming in together with Raysis?’

Lindsey was ignoring Raysis even as they entered together, leaving Rosalyn gaping in disbelief.

“Sarah, am I seeing this right? Is Lindsey really entering with Raysis?”

“What trick could she possibly be pulling?”

Sarah glared at Lindsey with sharp eyes. Raysis was an outstanding transcendent even within the Kesion family.

Many of their siblings admired him. But to be with someone with dirty blood like Lindsey?

Suddenly, everything around them seemed to be changing.

Rosalyn anxiously watched Lindsey and Raysis. She had been at the academy and was unaware of the recent developments.

“Let’s go, Sarah. We need to hear what they’re talking about.”

Raysis spoke to Lindsey in a brusque tone.

“You should turn back now. Stop putting on airs. A high-level monster has appeared near the northern border.”

Raysis was certain Lindsey would be of no help.

The priests were in a safe place, but monsters could appear at any time.

Not only that.

Transcendents on the battlefield were always in a state of frenzy.

Lindsey would undoubtedly be terrified of such volatile transcendents.

‘Mikhail was strangely good at controlling his energy, though.’

In a frenzy, Mikhail had nearly killed priests who approached him. But he was different with Lindsey.

The energy that raged like a wild bull towards others would soften when it approached Lindsey.

Raysis, a sensitive transcendent, couldn’t miss such a detail.

What was Mikhail thinking?

What about Lindsey? And Kenyan?

He had been sensitive to the changes in his surroundings lately.

‘Everyone’s acting strange.’

The strangest among them was Lindsey, who stood before him now.

Even now.

A smirk appeared on Lindsey’s face at his words.

“Putting on airs?”

Her tone was sharp and angry.

“I told you I don’t want to talk to you. You’ll see whether it’s just airs or not.”

It was then that Rosalyn appeared.

She looked at Lindsey with a sympathetic expression at her sharp words.

“Lindsey. There’s no need to be so harsh. Raysis was only saying it for your sake…”

Rosalyn placed a hand over her heart, acting as if she had heard something shocking.

“Rosalyn? Are you okay?”

Raysis turned to Rosalyn with a worried look.

Rosalyn, who had been frail since childhood, was easily startled by minor things. Now, she was looking shocked at Lindsey’s words.

Lindsey muttered under her breath.

“This is ridiculous.”

The moment Rosalyn heard that.

Her face cracked.

She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. Did Lindsey really say that to her?

To me?

Rosalyn glanced at Raysis. She expected him to react angrily, to say something to Lindsey for insulting her. But the reaction she anticipated didn’t come.

Raysis just frowned, looking troubled.

Rosalyn covered her mouth with her hand, tears welling up in her eyes, and looked at Raysis. Only then did he speak, sounding flustered.

“Lindsey, what are you saying to Rosalyn…”

“I wasn’t talking to Rosalyn, I was talking to you.”

Raysis’s face twisted even more comically.

Lindsey avoided his gaze. The truth was, her words were directed at Rosalyn, but she didn’t want to get into a pointless argument with Raysis.

‘He’ll probably just bother me to apologize to Rosalyn.’

There was no need to make a bothersome situation worse.

Lindsey turned her gaze to the window. She thought it would be better to look at monsters than stay with these people.

⋆★⋆

Sylvia Radian.

She frowned as she looked into the mirror.

“This makes no sense.”

Everything was not going as she had expected. She thought Lindsey would be trembling in fear, but she had left for the hunt without hesitation.

Knowing how terrified Lindsey was of monsters, it was puzzling.

“What is going on?”

The maids behind Sylvia trembled.

Sylvia was displeased that things were not going according to her plans. What confused her even more was Kenyan’s behavior.

“After this is over, I plan to finalize the breakup with Lindsey Kesion.”

“What? She hasn’t even apologized to me, and you’re talking about breaking off the engagement?”

“What should she apologize for? Lindsey Kesion didn’t do anything to you. It was you who spilled the wine.”

Sylvia’s eyes reddened at the memory.
