As the curtains opened, the blinding sunlight spilled in, illuminating the entire bedroom. The girl in bed was awakened.
She let out a dissatisfied grunt, pulled the quilt over her head, and then rolled over with her back to the window.
“It's time to get up for breakfast,”
her mother's gentle voice sounded in her ear. Ning Chu reluctantly opened her eyes and responded, “Hmmm...”
A moment later, she poked her head out of the covers, shielding her eyes from the glare with one hand as she looked up at her mother standing by the bed.
