124.1. Children Grow Fast, Isn’t It?

Jabil-sensei writes the basics of magic on the blackboard and explains them.

At first, I felt down comparing her teaching style to mine, but now I’m completely engrossed in her lecture.

Not just me, the students are also listening intently.

Jabil-sensei, you’re amazing!

“—And that’s how it works. I believe you’ve already been taught this by Craft-san, but are there any questions?”

“It was easier to understand than with Craft-san, Sensei!”

“Yeah! I was bad at magic, but I might be able to do this!”

“You’re amazing for being so small!”

“Sensei, I have a question. Can this magic formula be applied in this way?”

“Hmm. You’ve got a good eye. I’ll teach you next week, so look forward to it until then.”

“Yes! Sensei!”

Just like that, Jabil-sensei is quickly surrounded by students.

She gained their trust in an instant. Too impressive!

As I was feeling impressed, Persia murmured quietly.

“Hmm. It just looks like students chatting to me.”

“Don’t say that.”

If the Sensei heard that, she’d probably feel down.

With the lecture over, it’s now time for practical training.

We all move to the schoolyard.

“Alright. Let’s use the magic formulas Jabil-sensei just taught us. If you think you can activate it, come near me. If not, gather around Jabil-sensei.”

“Yes!”

Magic heavily depends on innate talent and compatibility.

Still, if you repeat the basics enough, you should be able to use at least some magic, but normally, people don’t get that patient instruction, so few in the world can use magic.

But at this academy, students receive education on par with noble private tutors.

Since the academy got on track, parents are amazed at their children who’ve become able to use magic.

That’s no surprise.

It usually costs a fortune.

For those who can deploy magic formulas, I teach them the practical skills, and for those who still can’t, the Sensei carefully instructs them on how to deploy the formulas.

Now that Jabil-sensei has filled in the gaps that I couldn’t cover before, all the students should be able to use some magic soon.

As an aside, powerful magic is called “sorcery,” while other magic is just called “magic.”

There’s no clear distinction, though.

The formula used to activate magic is called a magic formula.

So, what I’m teaching the kids is basic magic.

Well, don’t worry about the details.

“Okay. Today, we’re doing [Water Generation]. Remember today’s lesson well and construct the magic formula.”

The students naturally form into groups.

Since it’s practical training, they chat and experiment together.

Surprisingly, Myrna has joined the group of four Kendal siblings, who have always been close.

I remember the first time I met Myrna when she was hiding behind Kyle.

Now she’s snorting with determination, studying magic alongside Ed and Saika. It’s surprising.

Curious about what they’re talking about, I eavesdrop.

Ed is, as usual, turning red-faced as he tries and fails to construct the magic formula.

“Damn it! Why does my magic keep dispersing?! Kai, Wamika, and Myrna are doing it so easily!”

“N-no, it’s not that easy.”

“It’s easy~?”

“Hey! Wamika?!”

“Damn it! I’ll succeed! At least before Saika does…”

“Oh! I did it! Just a little, but I did it!”

Though inefficient, Saika is delighted as she produces a small amount of water with magic.

…Seeing that little bit of water reminds me of my younger self!

The magic formula is still unstable, so the success rate is probably low.

“Why?! Damn it! Myrna! Teach me your trick!”

“Huh?”

Ed asks Myrna for help. I get it.

Among these five, Ed and Saika, unfortunately, don’t have much talent for magic.

On the other hand, Kai and Wamika show the potential to become excellent magicians in the future.

Even now, the two of them are steadily producing cups of water.

But there’s one who stands out. That’s Myrna.

She alone is producing a bucketful of water, earning the admiration of those around her.

So it’s not wrong for Ed to ask Myrna for help.

However, the problem is that it’s Myrna.

“…Like this.”

Myrna weaves the formula with magic, but doesn’t explain.

“That’s not what I mean! I don’t understand how you’re doing that!”

“Huh?”

Myrna tilts her head once, then slowly weaves the formula again, but unless you’re very experienced with magic, you can’t sense someone else’s magic formula.

Moreover, Myrna is a genius who uses magic purely by instinct. Proof of that is her poor academic performance.

“Hmm.”

Myrna activates the magic.

“No! Explain it to me!”

Ed shouts.

“…Output… the formula…”

Myrna activates the magic.

“That’s why the magic keeps scattering!”

Ed shouts.

“…Gyu?”

Myrna pours in more magic. Two buckets of water are produced.

“That’s! What I’m asking about!”

“Ugh…”
