Chapter 120: I Am Not the King of Rolls

After lunch, Leon and Rosvitha found themselves chatting again while washing dishes together.

In truth, they didn’t have much time to chat throughout the day.

Rosvitha was busy handling various matters for the Silver Dragon Clan, while Leon had to guide Muen in magical enlightenment.

Moreover, both of them held the mindset of “Am I so full that I’m looking for someone to chat with?”

Their approach was essentially non-essential, non-communicative.

However, there were still some things Leon needed to clarify.

“Your birthday is coming up in a few days, and you’re going to follow human birthday customs completely, right?” Leon asked.

Rosvitha nodded. “Yes.”

“Okay. Then, if you don’t mind me asking, how old will you be this year?”

“Eighteen—”

“You’re eighteen?!” Leon was so excited he almost wanted to add an expletive to express his astonishment.

“Two hundred years old.”

Rosvitha turned her head to look at him, her beautiful eyes squinting into two curved slits as she smiled.

Then she straightened up and asked, “What does age have to do with birthdays? Aren’t they all just routines?”

Leon shook his head. “While the routines may generally be the same, there are still some different details.”

“Details?”

Leon glanced at her, then lowered his head to continue washing the dishes. He didn’t explain further, only saying, “You’ll find out when the time comes.”

Rosvitha pursed her lips. “Being mysterious now, are we?”

Leon shrugged, not giving a response.

Rosvitha didn’t pursue any other topics either.

After finishing the dishes, Leon didn’t hurry to leave as usual. Instead, he went to Rosvitha’s balcony and looked out towards the mountains behind.

Rosvitha dried her hands and walked out of the kitchen, watching Leon’s back on the balcony. She asked, “What are you looking at?”

“Nothing, just taking a look around.”

“Weird…”

Rosvitha muttered to herself, not pressing him further. She turned and went to the study alone, continuing to tackle the piles of work.

After some time passed, when she finally looked up to relax, she realized that Leon had already left.

Rosvitha frowned slightly. “Coming and going as he pleases, treating my room as his own. Looks like I’ll have to give Mr. Leon a lesson in etiquette when I have the chance.”

The queen snorted coldly, then lowered her head to continue working at her desk.

In the afternoon, Leon took his two daughters to the library.

While preparing for Rosvitha’s birthday, Leon didn’t forget about his own affairs.

He continued to search for a solution to his magic depletion in Rosvitha’s private library.

Muen obediently did the homework Leon left for her on the desk by the French windows. If there were any parts she didn’t understand, Noia could explain them to her.

As evening approached, Noia found a book about young dragons for Muen to read as relaxation after class.

Immediately, she glanced towards the row of bookshelves in the library, where her father seemed to be searching for something. Noia pondered for a moment, then got off her chair and walked over slowly.

At that moment, Leon was engrossed in reading an ancient tome. “Dad, are you looking for something?” Noia asked as she approached.

Upon hearing her question, Leon smiled and placed the ancient tome back in its original position. “Nothing much, just browsing, passing the time.”

He didn’t want his daughters to know about his magic depletion. Not only would it cause unnecessary worry for them, but it might also reach Rosvitha’s ears.

From the current situation, it seemed that Rosvitha was unaware of his magic depletion. At most, she probably thought his body hadn’t fully recovered yet, which was why he hadn’t been using large-scale offensive magic.

If that mother dragon were to find out his true condition, he would undoubtedly be subjected to a barrage of “you’re so incompetent” remarks.

Moreover, Leon understood the importance of keeping a low profile. It was better not to leak any information until he had fully recovered.

Unfortunately, despite spending the entire afternoon researching, Leon still hadn’t found the source of the problem.

Just as he had initially suspected, it was going to be a long process. Luckily, Leon had enough patience when it came to “problem-solving.”

He adjusted his mood and looked at Noia. “Is Muen’s homework done?”

“Not yet, but it will be soon,” Noia replied. Then she added, “I think with your teaching efficiency and Muen’s learning speed, she should be ready for magical enlightenment in about half a month.”

Leon nodded, his gaze drifting towards the French windows not far away where Muen was diligently doing the homework he had assigned her.

“I wonder what Muen’s innate elemental affinity will be.”

Noia also looked at her sister’s cute and serious profile and chuckled, “Will it be fire or lightning?”

Rosvitha had previously told Leon that almost all dragonkin awakened with a natural affinity for fire. But Noia was different; she was aligned with lightning, just like Leon.

Leon had asked before if Noia, being the only one with a lightning affinity in a class full of fire elemental dragons, would face bullying or isolation.

After all, children, with their immature minds, often perceive “special” and “different” as being outliers, and isolation is a common occurrence.

But Rosvitha said it wouldn’t happen. She mentioned that there’s a small probability for dragonkin to awaken with elemental affinities other than fire, and that’s not unusual.

Leon felt relieved upon hearing this. His eyes flickered as he crouched down and asked, “So, do you think Muen will awaken with lightning or fire?”

Noia rubbed her chin as she thought. “Mom’s affinity is fire, Dad’s is lightning, and mine is also lightning… So, to balance Mom’s feelings, if I were Muen, I would try hard to awaken the fire element.”

Leon chuckled at Noia’s words. He affectionately ruffled her hair.

“Awakening to a particular element isn’t something you can decide just by trying hard.”

Noia scratched her head and grinned. “It’s just wishful thinking. By the way, Dad, speaking of the lightning element…”

“Yeah, what about it?”

“In a little over a month, St. Hys Academy will be on winter break. During this time, I’ve learned quite a bit about basic magic, so could you teach me more about lightning magic during the break? That way, when the next semester starts, I’ll be more prepared for the school’s curriculum.”

Leon was taken aback. It wasn’t that he was surprised that Noia had made this request. Quite the opposite, in fact.

If Noia didn’t get involved in “inner competition” during the winter break, it wouldn’t be like her personality at all.

But… Leon was still in a state of magic depletion, and teaching lightning magic formally would inevitably involve demonstration.

When the time came, his daughter would expect an impressive display of “Thunderous Wrath,” but after struggling for a while, Leon would only manage to conjure a couple of small sparks.

Daughter: It’s okay, Dad. It’s still cute. I’ll go ask Mom to teach me.

No, this couldn’t happen!

This kind of thing absolutely couldn’t happen!

He had fought hard for his position in the family, and his place in his daughter’s heart was also something he had fought for!

There is still over a month until winter break…

Leon pursed his lips, gritted his teeth, and agreed, “Alright, no problem. Dad will teach you more about lightning magic when the time comes.”

Noia’s eyes lit up, and her face couldn’t hide her joy. She leaned forward and hugged Leon’s neck, gently kissing his cheek. “Thank you, Dad!”

Noia happily ran off to find Muen.

Leon breathed a sigh of relief silently. “After Mother Dragon’s birthday, I need to make better use of my time.”
