Chapter 148: Big Mother Dragon, what are you up to!
Several days later, in the evening, Leon took his couple’s pajamas and headed to the bathroom to change.
Although Noia had already gone to school, there was no telling if Muen had been assigned a task by his sister to inspect his parents’ room at night. If they were found not sleeping together or not wearing couple pajamas, they would definitely receive criticism.
Leon first placed the pajamas on the nearby clothes hanger, then crossed his arms and pinched the corners of the shirt, swiftly taking it off from bottom to top.
Looking at himself in the mirror, Leon’s gaze fell on the dragon tattoo on his chest. Even though he was now cohabiting with that mother dragon, it didn’t hinder Leon from secretly condensing and storing magic power. It was fortunate that Rosvitha hadn’t been very “reliable” lately.
After the last incident in the study where his magic power was partially lost due to the “tail entwining” move, Leon realized that regardless of whether the process was normal or not, involving the dragon tattoo meant losing magic power.
Even just using his tail. So, the prerequisite for accumulating a certain amount of magic power was: never again to be intimate with Rosvitha—no form of it.
But even thinking about this matter using his knees, one would know it was highly unlikely.
Rosvitha’s primal motivation for retaliating against Leon, the defeated prisoner of war, was to force him to do those things with her, thus insulting Leon’s pride and dignity as a human and a dragon slayer.
Now, asking her to change her approach, she might not even know how to torture Leon.
Would she really hang him up and whip him with a small whip? That would be considered domestic violence.
In essence, Leon wanted to restore his peak strength, so for the foreseeable future, he needed to minimize his interactions with Rosvitha as much as possible. Ideally, he shouldn’t interact with her at all. That meant he had to maintain his “innocence.”
“Hiss… No wonder the Master said that young boys train harder. It all makes sense now,” Leon realized.
But making a married, father-of-a-child, cohabiting man, whose cohabiting partner not only looked good and had a great figure but also had a tail that she wanted to use for some strange activities every night, maintain his so-called “innocence” was quite difficult, wasn’t it?
And if Rosvitha found out that having intimate relations with Leon could deplete his magic power, she might increase their frequency from “every three days” to “three times a day.”
One shouldn’t underestimate that mother dragon; even in this unique situation, she surely had her ways.
“Sigh… Anyway, for the sake of steadily restoring my strength, I’ll have to provoke that mother dragon for now,” Leon concluded.
Then suddenly, he remembered, “But regardless of that, we still need to proceed with the prenatal education plan. It’s been several days since I last taught the second child, so I’ll try tonight.”
With that in mind, Leon changed into his pajamas and left the bathroom. The light in the study was still on, indicating that Rosvitha was still working.
Leon thought for a moment, then casually walked to the study door and leaned against the door frame.
Rosvitha heard the movement, glanced up, then lowered her eyes back to her work. “Do you need something?” she asked.
She was also wearing the pink couple pajamas, likely changing into them while Leon was in the bathroom.
Her silver hair was tied into a simple ponytail, draping over her shoulders. She clipped her bangs with a hairpin to keep them from obstructing her vision.
When Rosvitha was immersed in her work, she exuded a mysterious charm that was completely different from her usual cold or sarcastic demeanor. It made people involuntarily quiet down and admire this intellectual beauty.
Of course, in recent days, this intellectual beauty has acquired a touch of adorable contrast. The pink pajamas she wore, somewhat cartoonish, created a subtle contrast with her refined temperament, making her seem more approachable.
Leon glanced at the coffee on her desk, indicating she was preparing for a late-night work session.
“So much work, will you finish it all?” Leon asked.
“I’ll never finish if I don’t work,” the workaholic replied simply.
“Should I get you some snacks then?” Leon offered.
“No need, I’m not hungry,” Rosvitha declined.
“I’m worried about your baby getting hungry,” Leon said.
Rosvitha’s pen paused, her silver eyes flickering as she looked up, her fingers holding the pen, her palm resting against her chin. Across the desk, she smiled at Leon, her eyes squinting slightly.
“Are you really worried about the baby? Or… are you using the baby as an excuse because you’re embarrassed to express your concern for me directly?”
Having learned from her sister Isabella about the vow Leon had once made, Rosvitha had finally caught a grip that could hit him hard.
Though she wasn’t sure if it was his true feelings or just a way to appease Isabella, she knew using this against him would be effective.
Sure enough, Rosvitha’s remark elicited a reaction from Leon, showing a hint of vulnerability.
“I care about you? The only thing I care about you is when you’ll hand over the position of the Silver Dragon King to me, so that the entire Silver Dragon Temple will be under my dominion, Leon Casmode.”
Rosvitha knew that these exaggerated and insincere words weren’t truly what Leon meant. However, what exactly he was thinking, Rosvitha wasn’t sure. But… it didn’t matter.
Tonight, she was ready to try the “two truths and a lie” game that she hadn’t played in a long time.
“And then?” Rosvitha was willing to play along with his banter now.
Living together was like this. In this room, they were each other’s only companions to talk to. And amidst the boredom of their tedious work, listening to Leon’s words, whether true or false, was Rosvitha’s only way to relax.
“And then? Then I’ll take care of all your work, leaving you, this workaholic, with nothing to do but retire peacefully.”
He couldn’t come up with any cheesy sweet words to say to Rosvitha. After much thought, that’s all he could say.
The queen chuckled softly at his words. “Alright, I still have a few hundred years before retirement. You can come and share my workload then.”
“A few hundred years later, I’ll crawl out of my grave to help you with your work?”
“No worries, I’ll find a wizard to resurrect your body and turn you into a puppet that only knows how to work. How about that, dear husband? Am I thoughtful?”
Leon grinned reluctantly, grinding his teeth. “You’re truly considerate, my dear wife.”
Rosvitha smiled, then immediately refocused her thoughts. She sighed in relief and glanced at the piles of work reports and documents on the table. Leon was right, the work was never-ending.
For tonight, she would stop here. After all, she still had to stay up until half past two after getting into bed, and the cup of coffee on the table was prepared for that purpose.
Rosvitha removed her hairpin, loosened her ponytail, and her silver hair cascaded down to her waist like a waterfall. She stood up, turned off the desk lamp, and said, “I’m going to bed.”
Leon felt a surge of joy in his heart. Finally, the workaholic was planning to rest. Once she fell asleep, he could start his prenatal education plan!
The couple climbed into bed from either side. Rosvitha turned off the bedside lamp and, lying down, softly said, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
In truth, they didn’t have the habit of bidding each other goodnight before. They didn’t even feel it was necessary.
What kind of goodnight could a prisoner of war and a queen exchange? Just being able to sleep together was a miracle in itself, making them seem more like a married couple than ever before.
However, since that night when Noia and Muen unexpectedly checked on them, the couple had developed an unspoken agreement to bid each other goodnight.
They had “committed the crime” that night, stealing kisses in secret, and that subtle feeling of confusion and infatuation had stirred up their desires.
The words “goodnight” were simple, yet they effectively eased the cravings in both their hearts. Not saying it would always leave a sense of something missing from their day. So, they said it anyway, knowing that no third party would ever find out.
Besides, saying goodnight didn’t mean much, did it? Did saying goodnight imply mutual affection? If so, then why didn’t the donkey that Leon used to say goodnight to every day turn into a beautiful donkey lady and have a forbidden interspecies romance with him?
Reining in his wandering thoughts, Leon slowly closed his eyes, silently waiting for the mother dragon to fall asleep. The room fell into silence, and after a while, Leon felt the time was right.
Without moving his head, resting it against the pillow, his eyes flicked to the wall clock.
It was 2:15 in the morning. The Queen should be asleep by now, right?
Leon prepared to make his move. He pursed his lips, opened his mouth slightly, about to tentatively ask if Rosvitha was still awake. But before he could speak, he heard Rosvitha’s voice from beside him.
“Are you asleep, Leon?”
“N-no…no, I’m not…” Leon quickly pretended to be in a drowsy state.
“Oh.”
Ten minutes passed.
“Are you asleep, Leon?”
“No.”
“Oh.”
Another ten minutes passed.
“Are you asleep, Leon?”
“If you have something to say, just say it.”
“It’s nothing, just asking.”
Yet another ten minutes passed.
“Are you sleeping—”
“Nope.”
“Oh.”
Rosvitha glanced at the wall clock and saw that it was almost half past two in the morning. Why isn’t this stubborn man asleep yet? Come on, hurry up! I’ve been saving up questions for so long!
Meanwhile, Leon’s inner thoughts were racing: “What’s wrong with the mother dragon? Drinking too much coffee? Can’t sleep?”
No, that’s not it.
Leon’s brain worked quickly. Normally at this time, Rosvitha would have been fast asleep. And even if she wasn’t asleep, there was no need for her to keep asking if Leon was asleep. After getting his reply, she would usually have nothing more to say.
Doesn’t this suggest… that Rosvitha really wants Leon to be asleep by now, so she can easily do something “naughty”?
Leon became wary, deciding that when Rosvitha asked again later, he would pretend to be asleep and see what she was up to.
After a while, Rosvitha’s voice came again, “Leon, Leon, are you asleep?”
Leon kept his eyes closed, offering no response.
“Oh ho~ He’s asleep.”
The rustle of the blanket accompanied the graceful movement of the woman sitting up by the pillow. Her silver eyes danced in the moonlight.
“Well then, I’ll… help myself~”
Leon: ?
Great Mother Dragon, what are you up to!
Thanks for the chapter
