Chapter 165: Senior Luo, why are you just watching!

Leon’s octa-core brain was working at full speed, weaving various explanations in his mind. But his CPU was almost smoking, and he still couldn’t come up with a perfect explanation for why “a weak male dragon who married into the Silver Dragon family killed the Red Flame Dragon King, Constantine.”

Leon nervously pinched his trousers, his palms sweating profusely. Truth be told, he wasn’t this nervous even when he first went into battle. So, in a sense, the Elder Sister was a more terrifying presence than Constantine.

The secret of the false family formed by him and Rosvitha must not be known by a third party. His identity, his past, his grievances with Rosvitha—any of these, if exposed, would be a fatal blow to this “dragon” family.

Leon wouldn’t relax his guard against Isabella just because she was Rosvitha’s sister. If anything, because she and Rosvitha were biological sisters, if Isabella were to find out that her sister had married a human, formed a family, and even had three daughters, Leon couldn’t guarantee that Isabella, as a pure-blooded dragon, would accept it.

He didn’t have any chips in hand to support him in making this gamble. If he won, everyone would be happy; but if he lost… where would his daughters go?

How would they view their father? How would they accept the fact that they weren’t pure-blooded dragons? Would their future be spent in questioning and disdain?

These were all unpredictable things, and cautious as Leon was, he couldn’t make any reckless decisions.

“What’s wrong, Brother-in-law? Is this question too difficult to answer?”

Isabella smiled knowingly, though her gaze carried a hint of caution and scrutiny. “It’s just a simple self-introduction.”

It’s not surprising that Isabella became suspicious. After all, it had been three years, and her understanding of her brother-in-law was limited to her sister’s account. As for his past and experiences, Isabella was completely in the dark.

She didn’t doubt Leon’s intentions towards her sister; their affection for each other was obvious to everyone. Whenever the couple looked at each other, their eyes were filled with affection, so sweet it seemed like they were about to ooze cream.

Isabella didn’t know if they were aware of this, but she had had her fill of witnessing their affection.

The reason she kept pressing Leon for an explanation was to put her own mind at ease. At most, her brother-in-law was hiding his true race to avoid pursuit by enemies (a common practice among dragons), or for some other reason, he discreetly married Rosvitha. But whatever the reason, as Rosvitha’s sister, she felt she had a right to know some details.

Leon sat on the edge of the bed, feeling like he was sitting on pins and needles, every pore on his body emitting nervousness. He discreetly glanced at Rosvitha lying beside him. She held the blanket up to her nose, only revealing a pair of exquisite silver eyes.

Her eyes blinked at Leon, her left eye conveying “innocence” and her right eye “bewilderment.”

For heaven’s sake, she’s still being cute!

Like before, the couple began their silent communication through meaningful looks.

Leon: Where are my teammates? Help, anyone, help!

Rosvitha: O M O

Leon: Senior Luo, why are you just watching?

Rosvitha: Sorry, can’t help you. I’ve never been able to resist my sister. Good luck with that!

Leon: Well, since that’s the case, I might as well go all out.

Rosvitha: ?… Stupid Leon, what are you planning to do?

Leon: Killing one dragon is killing, killing two dragons is just a little extra. Today, I’ll make it up to my sister—I’ll just—

Rosvitha: Stop fooling around, idiot! You have five seconds to come up with a reason. If you go over, my sister will assume you have ulterior motives against my Silver Dragon clan.

Leon: She’s not wrong to assume that, three years ago I did have ulterior motives against your Silver Dragon clan…

Rosvitha: …

She covered her face with the blanket again.

“Brother-in-law, my patience is limited—”

“Actually!” Leon suddenly sat up straight, puffing out his chest.

Isabella crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow. “Actually?”

“Actually… I’ve had a dream since I was little.” Leon spoke passionately, his face radiating ‘piety’.

Isabella blinked, “No, no, Brother-in-law, I don’t want to know about your dream. I was asking—”

“I dreamt that, when I grew up, I would encounter a special dragon.” Hearing this, Rosvitha quietly peeked out from under the blanket, curious about what story Leon would come up with. Isabella’s crossed arms turned into a chin-stroking gesture, with one hand on her waist.

This brother-in-law of hers… How many schemes does he still have in his head?

“We will meet in a special place and get to know each other in a special way.”

“We won’t plan our future specifically; everything will happen naturally, waiting for various surprises and unexpected events in our tranquil life.”

“I long for a beautiful married life with her, undisturbed by anyone.”

“To fulfill this dream, I traveled through the entire dragon clan, traversing mountains and rivers.”

“Just when I was despairing in darkness, I met her.”

As Leon rambled on, intoxicated in his own nonsense, he lowered his head and looked at Rosvitha, his gaze full of deep affection.

“My destiny, my eternal love, Rosvitha.”

“It’s you who saved me from darkness; it’s you who made me feel the warmth of home.”

“I swear, I will protect you for a lifetime.”

“If anyone dares to harm you, I will personally send them to hell. Even if it’s someone as powerful as Constantine, it won’t be an exception.”

Meanwhile, in the queen’s inner thoughts: I’ve already given birth to our youngest daughter, so why do I still feel like throwing up…

The couple gazed at each other.

Leon’s eyes were deep, filled with affectionate devotion, while the queen was immensely disgusted but had to play along.

Clap—clap—clap—

Isabella clapped slowly on the side, “So touching, so loving, what a destined love story.”

Leon secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn’t expect this improvised nonsense to actually work on Isabella. This was probably thanks to his prenatal education plan over the past ten months.

For the sake of ensuring their precious daughter would embrace the essence of human culture, he had practiced poetry recitation for a long time! Ah, the many skills one acquires while journeying through the world!

However, before Leon could completely relax his anxious heart, he saw Isabella suddenly drop the fake pretense of being moved and coldly say, “But you still haven’t answered my question, Brother-in-law. I don’t want to know how you fell in love with my sister; I want to know about your background.”

Leon’s eyes darted around, trying to find the right words. He replied, “Sis, actually, my answer was in the story I just told. In order to protect Rosvitha, to fulfill my promise, I desperately sought strength, enduring hardships that only I know of.”

He sighed, patting Rosvitha’s hand, and continued solemnly, “But all the pain was worth it. At least, today, I truly saved my wife and daughter. Right, sis?”

Isabella clicked her tongue lightly. Her brother-in-law had said a lot, but it seemed like he hadn’t said anything at all…

Should she continue pressing for answers? Would it seem impolite?

“Sis, Leon is truly devoted to this family. He wouldn’t hide anything from me; I know him well,” Rosvitha chimed in at the opportune moment.

Isabella sighed inwardly.

“Alright, even though I still haven’t figured out how you killed Constantine, considering your harmony and mutual understanding, I might have been overly concerned.” Isabella looked at Leon. “But at least you’re really fulfilling your promise.”

Leon smiled. “A man should never go back on his word.”

Rosvitha raised her eyes, silently observing this idiot who always talked about how a man should be while holding the title of the strongest dragon slayer. He had some childish and immature aspects that didn’t quite match his honor, but it was harmless.

But it was no big deal. If anything, it was these quirks that made Rosvitha feel like the man she lived with every day was a genuine “person,” not just a perfect template created by a biased creator.

The queen slowly closed her eyes, listening to Leon and Isabella chatting about their youngest daughter.

The exhaustion and weakness after childbirth soon overwhelmed her body and mind.

Before drifting off to sleep, the corners of the silver-haired beauty’s mouth lifted slightly.

Truly, it was a morning worth commemorating.
