Why don’t you tell me bedtime stories? (Part Two)
After a night of sound sleep.
The next early morning, Ren Xingliu opened his eyes. Because of how well he slept, he was in a very good spirit, stretching his back contentedly on the bed.
When he moved his head, he bumped against a hard object. Turning his head, he saw his phone was still on the pillow.
Once his memory from last night before falling asleep resurfaced, he wrapped his mind around one thing; he had fallen asleep listening to Bai Juanqiu’s nursery rhyme.
He unconsciously curled his lips, unlocked his phone and sent a message to Bai Juanqiu.
Ren Xingliu: [I slept very well last night. Comrade Xiao Bai, thank you for the heartfelt personal concert ^—^]
As soon as he sent the message, the other party called back. “You’re up?”
“I just woke up.” Ren Xingliu heard the other party’s slightly hoarse voice and asked while he walked towards the bathroom, “You didn’t sleep well last night?”
“Yeah, a bit.” Bai Juanqiu didn’t hide this. “I went to bed later last night and was just woken up by Lao Shao… Lao Shao was shocked this morning. He got so nervous that he called me for advice.”
Ren Xingliu was puzzled. “What happened?”
Bai Juanqiu shared, “He said that as soon as he opened the restaurant today, it was never-ending of customers. Even now, the restaurant is packed…”
He couldn’t resist chuckling when he got to this point, “The story is, they all saw your classmate’s submission and went there specifically to try out food that’s comparable to that of an award-winning chef.”
Ren Xingliu: “…”
Once Bai Juanqiu got to the end, Ren Xingliu learned that after he had fallen asleep, new information broke out on the internet, which ended the whole thing, having progressed eight times of its original speed.
It turned out that Peng Hui’s team was still struggling at first, and secretly found a marketing account to issue a press release, implying that Ren Xingliu and Shao Wei had an improper relationship, and that Ren Xingliu’s appearance in Shao Wei’s live broadcast room was premeditated to give his little lover To vent your anger or something like that.
It turned out, Peng Hui’s crew attempted a final effort by secretly contacting an owned media to send a press release, hinting at the improper relationship between Ren Xingliu and Shao Wei. Ren Xingliu’s appearance in Shao Wei’s livestream was premeditated, like standing up for one’s lover, something of that nature.
Actually, this was Peng Hui’s initial plan, however, at the beginning, he formed his plan slowly, wanting to investigate all the information thoroughly to weave a more rounded story.
But the unexpected exposure on Ren Xingliu’s identity instantly got the online public opinion to throw a curveball at him that he wasn’t able to catch it promptly.
In the heat of the moment, Peng Hui released the news, without conducting a thorough investigation.
He made a good calculation. In public perception, many people are willing to stick to this kind of wealthy young master. He definitely doesn’t have much care in his private life. With this dirty water thrown out, even if Ren Xingliu and Shao Wei are not related, they still have a reputation. Can’t tell.
He fought with his abacus quite well. In the public perception, they were ready to paste this kind of information onto a rich young master. Young masters like this were definitely not very well-disciplined in private life. This splash he made with the dirty water, even if Ren Xingliu and Shao Wei had no relationship, they wouldn’t be able to explain themselves.
But never in a million years would he expect that Young Master Ren…likes men. And his boyfriend was that other person who appeared on the livestream.
As soon as the release was out, the keyboard warriors from Ling University made their presence known again. Raising Mjölnir, they directly hammered him onto the pillar of shame that he couldn’t free himself from.
Peng Hui held a million cuss words in his heart.
But this was just the start of his nightmare, as more bad news came out one after another.
Soon, another local restaurant revealed that Peng Hui relied on his large fan base to not only not pay for his meal, but also demanded ‘promotional payment’ from the restaurant.
Some restaurants didn’t lack customers, and they didn’t want to do business with him, but if they dared to refuse, they would definitely feature in Peng Hui’s ‘review video on restaurants to avoid’.
In fact, this kind of criticism existed before, but Peng Hui had been cautious and had never left threats like that unchecked. So, none of his fans believed it, and none of them was able to cause a ripple.
It was different now. Once his persona collapsed, everything he had done and said would be re-evaluated.
A skin-peeling campaign against Peng Hui was launched with great fanfare.
No matter how well Peng Hui had covered his hide, he couldn’t withstand the scrutiny of a large netizen army. Soon, all the evil deeds he had done were uncovered.
Threatening businesses, bullying small streamers, deceiving female fans’ feelings, and so on.
One thing after another had directly made it impossible for him to redeem himself.
“The platform has blocked his live broadcast room.” Bai Juanqiu said, “Most of the business partners he has cooperated with have terminated their contracts and are seeking compensation from him. The money he earned from live broadcasts will probably be included in it.”
“The livestream platform has already disabled his livestream account.” Bai Juanqiu said, “Most of his sponsors have also terminated their contracts with him, as well as seeking him for compensation. This will probably drain all of the income he had earned from livestream.”
“He deserves it.” Ren Xingliu’s voice was filled with gloat, then he asked, “Shao Wei is not affected, right?”
“A little bit, but not negatively.” Bai Juanqiu smiled and shared, “She even held a livestream in the middle of night to tell her side of story; her experience in being harassed by Peng Hui in the past.”
Ren Xingliu found it surprising. “She is not worried?”
Bai Juanqiu said, “At first, she didn’t plan to bring it up. Later, other former employees came forward and shared the same experiences. Shao Wei felt that she should support this cause, even if it might cause a legal issue.”
Ren Xingliu admired from the bottom of his heart, “She is very brave.”
Due to inherent gender inequality, females always suffered more in such situations, even if they were victims. Once exposed, there was no guarantee that they wouldn’t be viewed through colored glasses.
But Shao Wei still stood up for herself, which was something that required a lot of courage.
Having said that, the whole development went too smoothly.
Ren Xingliu could vaguely sense a human tempering. Of course, as a qualified salted fish, he didn’t need to get to the bottom of things. He casually said, “We’re quite lucky to have so many keyboard warriors aid in delivering the hammer…”
“This is not all luck.” Bai Juanqiu interrupted him and said in a low voice, “It was my doing, I found those people.”
Originally, he should have kept this matter from outsiders. But when faced with Ren Xingliu, for some reason, Bai Juanqiu didn’t want to keep it from him.
Peng Hui deserved this, no doubt. But how could everything fall into place in just one night without human intervention?
As early as the moment he had learned about the situation with Lao Shao’s restaurant, Bai Juanqiu had already contacted his own people to start investigating Peng Hui.
Fortunately, due to Ren Xingliu’s unexpected appearance, it didn’t take much time to convince people to step forward.
So, Bai Juanqiu stayed busy until late last night.
Whether it was contacting these people, or pushing things forward, it required a certain amount of power.
This didn’t fit with Bai Juanqiu’s usual ‘persona’, and he didn’t even mention this to the involved party, Lao Shao and his family.
It was actually a risk to tell Ren Xingliu.
“So, it’s like that.” On the other end of the phone, Ren Xingliu showed his support, “Comrade Xiao Bai is very capable.”
Bai Juanqiu chuckled once more, saying nothing else more. But his eyes darkened, as he thoughtfully curved his fingers and tapped them on his table.
He could feel that it wasn’t that Young Master Ren was oblivious to the elephant in the room, but he didn’t show a great shock to this small episode and didn’t ask for more details.
Was this keeping calm from the unexpected, or Ren Xingliu simply didn’t care?
