Why Am I a Priestess When I Reach the Maximum Lev…
Vol. 1 Ch. 5 Table of contents

As soon as the words were uttered, the black tiger on the battlefield finally seized the opportunity. It extended its sharp claws, sparkling with an electric light, and swiped from the blind spot towards the exposed neck of the middle-aged warrior.

“Come at me!!!”

The warrior, who had been on high alert, would naturally not sit idly by. He took a deep breath and shouted fiercely as he swung his large sword backward, displaying a fierce determination to severely wound the black tiger even if it meant risking his life.

However…

Whether he could wound the enemy was one thing, but Violet was certain that this single swipe from the massive tiger would absolutely end the man’s life.

Just at that moment, following her command, Xiao Guang’s figure flashed and disappeared from the spot.

Thud!

The black tiger, still in mid-leap, hadn’t figured out what was happening when it felt an immense force descending from above. It lost control and crashed onto the ground, its head colliding with the earth, emitting a gruesome sound akin to bones shattering.

Then, it lay on the ground, foaming at the mouth, unconscious.

Xiao Guang had expertly controlled her strength. Since Violet hadn’t ordered to kill it, this move was just enough to render the massive tiger incapacitated.

On the other side, the man who had swung his final desperate blow suddenly felt his weapon as if it had gotten stuck in something. It hung in mid-air, unable to move forward or backward. The excruciating pain he had anticipated, even death, didn’t arrive. His expression of despair and determination froze on his face, making him look somewhat comical.

“Huh?”

The man raised his head in confusion, and a breathtakingly beautiful and graceful face appeared before his eyes. The girl’s long golden hair danced in the moonlight, her tight-fitting leather attire accentuating her slender and alluring figure. Her clean and dainty bare feet casually rested on the head of the black tiger, and the ground had even cracked deeply under the force of the impact from earlier, showing the immense strength she possessed.

His sword had been effortlessly clamped between the girl’s two fingers, and what he felt in return was the enormous power that rendered him almost completely immobile. It was a surreal contrast.

What left the man most impressionable, however, were the girl’s pale golden vertical pupils, as cold and heartless as a deity looking down upon ants. It sent shivers down his spine, and he trembled involuntarily, almost dropping his sword.

“W-who… are you?”

The man stammered, but the unfamiliar language he spoke caused both Xiao Guang and the approaching Violet to furrow their brows.

They don’t understand… Is this expected or unexpected? It seemed that this world was indeed entirely different from both Earth and the game world.

However, Violet had anticipated this possibility long ago. In her backpack, she had several handy gadgets for two-way language translation, originally used in the game to communicate with different races and intelligent creatures. She hadn’t expected to use them here as well.

She attached a small device resembling earphones to herself and Xiao Guang. The man’s foreign language initially produced some crackling noises, but it gradually transformed into a voice they could understand.

“Thank you, ladies, for your help. Are you also adventurers here to hunt down the evil beast?”

“Evil beast? Adventurers?”

Violet glanced at the unfortunate black tiger beneath her pet’s foot. Could this creature be the “evil beast” the man was referring to?

Seeing that Violet and the others finally reacted, the man seemed to assume their identities and let out a sigh of relief. His eyes started to burn with excitement.

“Such swift skills, you defeated the Black Night Tiger, which is as strong as Obsidian Steel-level, without even using martial arts. Could it be that you, Miss, are a Sky-level, or perhaps even a Legendary-class adventurer?”

“I am… No, I am Lester, a Precious Metal-level adventurer from the Sil City. May I ask which legendary adventurer you are from the guild?”

“Wait a minute! How can someone of your caliber come to undertake a mere B-rank mission? Is there some hidden agenda behind this?”

“Hold on!”

Violet and the bewildered Xiao Guang exchanged glances, realizing that this man, named Lester, had likely misunderstood something. They decided it was best to clarify the situation with him.

“Well… actually, we…”

“Boss! You need to come quick, it’s Leon…!”

Urgent cries came from nearby, and Lester’s expression immediately changed. Without further ado, he nodded at Violet and her companions, then rushed towards the fallen man.

Violet glanced at the black tiger that had been incapacitated by Xiao Guang. She hadn’t decided what to do with it yet, but it probably wouldn’t be able to move for a while. She left it where it was and headed over to where Lester was.

*Cough, cough, cough…*

As they got closer, a strong scent of blood hit them. The young man known as Leon had been bleeding heavily during the earlier battle, and after this delay, his blood had not stopped flowing. A normal person should have been dead by now, and it seemed like he couldn’t get any deader.

However, although it looked like Leon’s life was hanging by a thread, he clearly still had a strong spirit. This indicates that his physical condition is far superior to the average person on Earth.

Violet was somewhat concerned, and Lester’s strength was also quite impressive. Is this the average level of people in this world, or is it that this team itself is quite formidable?

There’s also something peculiar about Violet herself.

In such a bloody scene, if it were her in her ordinary state, she might have been dizzy and nauseated by now. However, in reality, Violet didn’t have much of a reaction, just a slight aversion to the rusty smell. Could this be an effect of her own body, as 【Violet】?

“Hey, you stinking brat, you better hang in there! If you die like this without any explanation, how am I supposed to face your parents!? Hey, stay awake, hey, hey!!”

Lester was administering first aid to the young man, feeding him some pale green potion and slapping his face forcefully, trying to keep him conscious amidst the dizziness caused by severe bleeding. After all, at a time like this, if he fell asleep, he might never wake up again.

But obviously, Leon’s wound on his side was too gruesome, tearing open almost half of his body. Using this level of treatment alone wouldn’t be effective at all. If it weren’t for the girl in a white robe earlier who desperately released a healing light, he wouldn’t even have survived until the end of the battle.

However, it seemed that the girl had exhausted her strength, and she was now being supported by the girl in leather armor with a ponytail, who had been hiding in the tree earlier, unable to sustain Leon’s dying life any longer.

“Cough… Uncle Lester… I’m sorry… it’s all my fault for being greedy and reckless… it’s already night, and I didn’t want to retreat… I’ve caused you all trouble… cough… Don’t mind me… hurry and go…”

The young man named Leon was apologizing intermittently to Lester while coughing up blood. Clearly, due to his blood loss, his consciousness was becoming blurred, and he hadn’t noticed that the Black Night Tiger had already been defeated or that Violet and Xiao Guang had approached.

“Don’t talk nonsense! The Black Night Tiger has already been defeated. Just hold on…”

“…Alright, let me see.”

A black-haired girl in a pristine white robe, holding a peculiar staff, gently pushed aside someone obstructing her view.
