It’s been a week since I started living in the City of Stars.
Sometimes, I’d take on quests from Erica Noona, or I’d just take a leisurely walk outside the city. During one of those peaceful moments, I found myself thinking about Yoram Village.
It hasn’t been that long since I left, but I already miss Bell Noona, and of course, the bunnies too.
They used to bring me carrots every day, and since they gave me something, it’s only fair I return the favor.
I checked the number of mana stones in my inventory and looked at the new passive skill I acquired.
[Growth] Your summoned creatures will grow. [Grow up strong!]
So, this helps my summons grow?
Dragon-Dragon and I walked outside the city, following the road when, as if on cue, the bear taxi appeared.
"Take me to Yoram Village!" “Grrraaa!” “What do you mean it’s far and you need two mana stones!? You’re such a robber! And how is it far!?” “Grrraa!” “Fine! I’ll give you two! But next time, you’re giving me a free ride!” “Grrraa!” “What do you mean ‘nothing’s free in this world’!? You’re so unfair!”
Grumbling, I climbed onto the bear’s back, but I have to admit, it’s comfortable.
As we sped along the road towards Yoram Village, I asked to be dropped off near the area where the rabbits live. The bear agreed, but I didn’t think about what would happen next.
The moment the bear appeared, the rabbits went into a frenzy, either fleeing in terror or fainting on the spot.
After handing over the mana stones to the bear and sending him away, I greeted the rabbits, but they were angry.
“Bwee! Bwee!” “I’m sorry! I didn’t know you’d be so scared!” “Bwee!” “I’ll be more careful next time!”
I apologized to the rabbits and gave each of them a mana stone from my inventory. Their eyes sparkled as they accepted them one by one.
There were so many rabbits that even giving them low-grade stones cost a fortune, but a debt is a debt.
Each rabbit thanked me and gave me a carrot in return, but now I have hundreds of carrots. What am I supposed to do with all of these?
After bidding farewell to the rabbits, I headed closer to Yoram Village, where the guards noticed me and waved.
“Did you come back because you love our village so much?” “Haha! I missed you all!”
After greeting them, I entered the village and was warmly welcomed by the townsfolk.
While saying hello to the villagers, I entered the familiar Moonlight Inn, where I heard a familiar voice.
“Just a moment!”
Bell Noona, not having seen me, thought I was a customer.
But the moment she turned her head and saw me…
“Yuna!?” “I’m back!”
I walked over to Bell Noona, and she hugged me, saying she was glad I came.
I had been yearning for human warmth for so long.
Sure, Erica Noona is in the City of Stars, but she’s always so busy, and there’s not much skinship—just a pat on the head at best.
But Bell Noona isn’t shy with her affection, and I felt the emptiness in my heart being filled.
Fortunately, it was a quiet time, so as I shared the stories of my recent adventures, she eagerly listened, and we ended up talking for hours.
I had arrived early in the morning, but it was already past noon.
“Wow, time flies! Could you wait just a bit longer? I’ll prepare lunch.” “Sure!”
After enjoying the meal Bell Noona made, I told her I was going out for a while and headed towards Charles.
When I met Charles, I told him about my adventures and how I was getting VIP treatment in the City of Stars with the transit pass he gave me. Charles shrugged it off like it was nothing.
“Of course they’d treat you that way. Who issued that pass? Yuna, you’re my student, after all!” “But I’m a summoner!” “You learned how to use a sword from me, didn’t you?”
After chatting with Charles for a bit, I decided to head out of the village again.
I’d already visited the rabbits, so now… should I go visit the slimes and goblins?
Walking along the path, I soon spotted a slime off in the distance.
It kept glancing at me.
“Come over here! I’ve got something good for you!”
I waved a mana stone in the air, and the slime came closer.
As it approached, I placed the mana stone inside its body, and it slowly started to absorb it.
“Oh wow, this is so cool! Anyway, I’ll be on my way!”
The slime didn’t respond.
As I made my way towards the goblin village, I checked my inventory.
I made a mistake!
I meant to give the slime a low-grade mana stone, but I ended up giving it a mid-grade one!
Well, it’s too late now.
As I approached the goblin village, one of the goblin guards noticed me.
“Kurrk! Young human! Kurrk! What brings you here!?” “I’ve come to repay the favor you did for me last time!” “Kurrk! Come inside!”
Following the guard into the village, I soon met the goblin who had helped me before.
“Kurrk! Young human! Kurrk! It’s been a while!” “It’s been a while!”
We exchanged some small talk, and I gave the goblin who had helped me a mid-grade mana stone. For the rest of the goblins, I handed out low-grade stones.
They were all overjoyed as they accepted the stones. Is this what it feels like to share the joy of giving?
Now that I’ve repaid my debts, should I head back to Yoram Village to say goodbye and then return to the City of Stars? Or maybe I should stay in Yoram Village for the night.
“Dragon-Dragon, what do you think?” “Bweee?” “Should we stay the night in Yoram Village?” “Bweee!” “Yeah, let’s stay! One night won’t hurt!”
Our little Dragon-Dragon, always looking out for me, suggesting we stay in the nearby village rather than travel again.
He’s so thoughtful.
In the forest, my kin were hunted every day.
We had no strength, no power, only the will to survive by fleeing and hiding.
How pathetic I must be.
One day, a strange human appeared.
At first, they hunted us like any other human.
But soon enough, they started greeting us and acting friendly, though I didn’t hold it against them.
In fact, I felt something familiar when I looked at them. No, it was more than that—it felt like they were closer than my own kin.
One day, the human returned after being gone for a while and handed me a stone brimming with great power.
They said it was a gift.
Before I could change my mind, I swallowed it, and as soon as I did, I felt a transformation deep within my body.
I was overwhelmed by sensations I had never experienced before. I hid in the bushes to sleep, just in case any danger arose.
I don’t know how long I slept.
When I woke up, my body had changed into something unfamiliar.
I had the shape of a human, but my body felt soft, like a slime.
Everything about me had changed.
At that moment, some humans spotted me.
“What is that? A slime?” “Is that a named monster!?” “Kill it before someone else gets it!”
The humans charged at me.
Not too long ago, the fear of death would have gripped me, but now, strangely, I wasn’t scared.
It felt like flies were coming at me.
With a single swipe of my hand, three of them were reduced to dust.
With this kind of power, maybe I can protect my kin?
