I Have a Reason to Hate Streamers
Chapter 123 Table of contents

[Title: Let me have one shot at Ga-wol LOL]
[User 'Soulful Lies' is streaming.]

There’s something we call “momentum” in life, whether you believe in it or not. On good days, everything seems to go your way, and on bad days, nothing works no matter what you try. The streamer, Soulful Lies, shortened to Soul Lies, was a firm believer in this “momentum theory.”

When he drew the Empress in the upright position three times in a row – a card you’re always happy to see – he knew his luck was at its peak today.

It felt like Lady Luck wasn’t just smiling on him but reaching out to him.

“This is it! Everyone, this is my moment. Let’s make something big happen today!”

Now, who is Ga-wol?
Regardless of any former reputation, Ga-wol is now the unrivaled master of one-on-one combat.

Ga-wol was the one who defeated the seemingly invincible Cerberus, Korea’s unbreakable wall, claiming victory with pride. Some fans even viewed Ga-wol as Korea's ultimate weapon.

There was an assassin stronger than Reaper in Korea. If Ga-wol joined the pro scene, he might just end Korea’s long dark age. This hope grew stronger rather than fading away.

Just days ago, both ACL and Sigma suffered crushing defeats at the hands of Phantom and Hashashin. Currently, Korea feared assassins but craved one of their own. Even as the Prelude continued, Ga-wol remained a hot topic.

Ga-wol's reputation continued to climb. But what if he, Soul Lies, could defeat this assassin?

“What do you think? It’d be massive!”

He was in peak condition, with luck on his side like never before. If he won against Ga-wol, the video would explode in popularity.

Surely, all his experience with cards had led to this moment. Lady Luck seemed to favor him yet again.

[Passive: Serendipity]

[Effect: Wave of Cards – Ignores guard and parry judgments.]

“Unbelievable!”

Cards that should have been blocked by Ga-wol’s dagger left scratches on his wrists and forearms.

Although Ga-wol quickly retreated after failing to defend, this was a strike of pure fortune. Missing a few shots didn’t matter; as long as he kept pushing Ga-wol until the skill expired, he’d have the advantage.

“Stay calm. This is when I need to be most composed!”

The distance between him and Ga-wol was significant. Even the swift assassin couldn’t close it in a single leap. This was the perfect time to minimize any variables.

Infinity-tier is no easy rank to achieve. Without optimal decision-making, you wouldn’t get anywhere near it. Right now, his mind was sharper than ever.

"Not like I studied back then anyway!"

He cleared the daggers lodged in the ground and trees. If the assassin used shadow movement, he wouldn’t be able to react quickly enough. Normally, Ga-wol wouldn’t give him time to prepare, but with luck on his side, this was different.

The cards he’d scattered around were setup points for his build’s main skill, Return. When the thrown cards are recalled, they deal massive damage. Combined with the cards in his hand and his ultimate, he could tear through the assassin’s frail body in one move.

He might actually win this match.

With his setup complete, Ga-wol attempted another approach. The paradox of the Cardmaster class is that to land his main attack, he has to be in close range. But since his opponent was Ga-wol, he had no intention of winning a melee fight.

Could he stack enough damage against a monster like her?

Of course not. No gambler bets on a 0% win rate. His winning move was Return, so investing in other utility made sense.

[Active: Infinity Shuffle]
[Creates a persistent area at a designated location…]

He used a placement skill to limit Ga-wol’s approach. While it’s challenging to track an assassin, with a clear direction to guard, he had a fighting chance.

Restricting Ga-wol’s attack angles with shadows and using trees as cover were impressive techniques. The moment Ga-wol entered his range, Soul Lies pulled the trigger without hesitation.

[I have done all a person can do; now I leave the rest to fate.]

[Card: Strength + The World]
[Active: Completed Strength]
[Enhances the next skill’s damage…]

From every direction, cards shot out from their embedded positions around the forest, forming a straight line toward Ga-wol. Several cards struck her body, yet there was no blood – as if she weren’t there.

It was an illusion. When had she switched? Soul Lies laughed in admiration.

“Yes, this is Ga-wol. She wouldn’t fall for such an obvious trap.”

But there’s a reason why people say, “A lucky Cardmaster is broken.”

[Used ‘Mage’ card.]
[Serendipity: Repeats the effect of the last skill used.]

If Ga-wol was who he believed, she was probably already behind him. Acting on instinct, he cast Return again while spinning around. Sure enough, the silent assassin was just steps away.

If this attack hit, even Ga-wol wouldn’t survive. With no daggers scattered nearby, there was nowhere for her to shadow-step to. He’d won. This time, he’d actually land a hit.

An electric thrill shot down Soul Lies’s spine. Until Ga-wol’s image faded.

“W-What…?”

The black fading effect was unmistakable proof of a shadow movement. Yet there were no shadows in the vicinity for her to use. Assassin shadows had more limitations than people realized.

Just as he grasped that, Ga-wol dropped down from above, both legs landing on him.

“Phew, that was a close one.”

Luckily, she’d found an answer before her vision cut out.

Ga-wol’s hand grabbed a dagger that had landed a beat earlier, snapping the silver thread attached to it. So, she’d thrown her main weapon… straight into the air. She’d timed the strike with the silver wire to ensure a successful hit.

Now, he was truly out of options. Resigned, he felt the cold sting of Ga-wol’s dagger on his body.
Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind.

"Her thighs are so soft…"

Her stocking-clad legs pressed against his cheeks. Despite the firm pressure, the sensation felt pleasant, even cozy against the 20% sensitivity setting. Her skin felt warm and soft.

Moreover, Ga-wol was wrapped around him from the front. Her thighs were against his cheeks, and he could sense her warm skin near the tip of his nose, brushing through thin fabric. That meant… where was his face touching?

This ambush… definitely worth it.

[Title: So, just how far did that Cardmaster’s potential go?]

“Instead of keeping it to yourselves, explain it a bit! Who even knows this trash class?”
