After picking up a few magic stones and souvenirs, I left the shop and wandered around the streets. Suddenly, I heard footsteps rushing toward me.
Looking in the direction of the sound, I saw Michael’s younger sibling from the academy barreling toward me!?
"There you are!"
“Oof!”
They slammed right into my stomach, hugging me with such force I nearly passed out.
This must be what they call "direct shipping from the source."
I almost went straight from Heaven to paradise.
If there’s a class at the academy for guiding people to Heaven, they’d graduate at the top.
Michael stepped in, helping me up, then gave her sibling a flick on the forehead.
"What do you think you’re doing to our guest? Apologize!"
"S-sorry! I didn’t know humans were this fragile! You’re really weak, huh?"
The audacity.
And right on cue, Michael delivered another flick to the forehead.
Nice shot!
Holding their head in tears, Michael’s sibling muttered an apology.
I wiped their tears away and held out my hand.
"Sorry for the late introduction. My name’s Yuna. Nice to meet you."
"My name is Miel."
Michael, who’d been watching, asked if that was all, prompting Miel to shout a louder greeting, only to receive another flick.
As if rebelling against their older sibling.
Poor Miel.
But shouldn’t they be at the academy right now?
Michael seemed to have the same thought.
"Miel, what are you doing here at this hour? Isn’t it time for class at the academy?"
"I came to keep an eye on you! To make sure that human doesn’t try to seduce you like they did to me!"
"…"
Michael and I exchanged exasperated looks, while Miel stood firmly between us, insisting they were protecting their sibling.
What on earth were they thinking?
"Nothing like that, so please head back to class."
"I don’t believe you! I’m sticking by you all day to keep an eye on things, just so you know!"
This was probably just an excuse to skip class.
Michael sighed, telling me to take care of Miel, and then left, leaving Miel with me.
Looking bewildered, Miel let me guide them to a nearby fountain.
"W-what’s going on?!"
"Michael said they had something urgent to take care of, so they left, and you happened to show up just in time."
"…"
Tears welled up in Miel’s eyes.
As I pulled out a handkerchief to wipe their tears, they spoke, voice trembling.
"I just wanted to spend time with my sister."
They sniffled, explaining that their older sister was always too busy to come home, so they hardly got to spend any time together. They really adored their sister, didn’t they?
I, on the other hand, can’t help but shudder at the thought of my own older sister.
But deep down, part of me misses her.
"How about we go see Michael together?"
"Really?"
They looked up at me, teary-eyed and hopeful. How cute.
It felt like I’d gained a little sibling.
Hand in hand, we set off toward the temple where Michael was.
Suddenly, a notification window appeared in front of me.
---
Once a highly respected figure in Heaven, now known as the fallen archangel Lucifer. After being wrongly accused and cast out from Heaven, they became known as the fallen angel Lucifer.
Did loving humanity really deserve punishment?
If it’s a crime, then I’ll change everything from top to bottom.
Restoring the wraiths’ bodies, they began to act.
[Emergency Quest has arrived.]
Save Heaven in its time of danger.
Reward: ???
A red notification screen—this was new. So far, I’d only seen blue for normal quests and gold for scenario quests. But red?
Hurrying to tell Michael, I took Miel and rushed toward the temple.
Angels were scurrying all around as we tried to enter, but we were stopped!?
"Outsiders are not permitted entry."
"It’s urgent! Can’t we go inside?"
Despite my explanations, the angel guarding the door firmly refused entry to outsiders.
I had no choice but to use my "family card."
Presenting Miel, the guard was momentarily stunned before recognizing them and opening the doors.
Indeed, family ties are the strongest.
Inside the temple, angels bustled around in a chaotic atmosphere.
When we entered the room where Michael was reviewing a report, they looked up, surprised to see us.
"What’s going on?"
Before I could respond, several other angels burst in.
"Big trouble, Michael!"
A frantic angel reported the situation, and after hearing it, Michael led Miel and me into a meeting room deeper within the temple.
As we entered the meeting room, I saw six angels, each with ten wings.
"So this is the human I’ve heard about."
"It’s my first time feeling this drawn to a human at first sight."
"It’s been a while, Miel."
As they looked at us curiously, a solemn voice broke through the chatter.
"Silence."
At that, the room fell quiet.
"Now that Michael is here, let’s begin. Human, Miel, please sit over there."
"Thank you for your courtesy, Gabriel."
Gabriel, the archangel, with a cold tone but a warm heart, directed us to our seats.
A blue screen appeared, and the video it displayed was shocking.
An army of wraiths was advancing toward Heaven.
At the center stood a figure.
A woman with ten black wings.
"Lucifer…"
The name escaped Michael’s lips, laced with shock and sorrow.
"Allow me to clear a path, and I’ll take on Lucifer myself."
Michael’s voice was resolute.
The other archangels agreed, and in an instant, we were transported atop a massive fortress wall.
In the distance, we saw the advancing army.
Among the grotesque wraiths, a figure hovered, spreading jet-black wings.
At that moment, a voice echoed.
[Save Lucifer.]
[The quest has been updated.]
[Save both Heaven and Lucifer.]
Reward: ???
As I tried to make sense of it all, foreign memories flooded in.
Records of the archangel Lucifer, who loved humanity and was cast out.
A being who saved countless humans, disregarding the rules of Heaven and the Underworld.
A trap set by certain factions who despised her, leading to her exile.
By the time the truth came out, it was too late.
Those responsible had been cast out, and a new generation had taken over.
They wanted to bring her back, but her fallen state left them with no way.
Perhaps sensing my turmoil, my little companion licked my cheek.
"Kyuu."
"Hm? You want me to keep the promise we made?"
They reminded me of their request to be trusted and relied upon.
Could they handle this?
But what if they got seriously hurt?
Suddenly, the sound of trumpets filled the air.
Angels spread their wings, ascending into the sky, drawing radiant bows.
Countless arrows filled the sky and rained down upon the wraiths below, dissolving them in bright light.
Seeing this, the wraiths let out piercing shrieks and surged toward the wall.
Then, a blazing flash cut through the air as one being pushed past the angels, heading directly for the wraiths.
The archangel Michael.
As they spread their ten wings and moved forward, the wraiths faltered, recoiling in fear.
Just then, cutting through the crowd of wraiths with their own ten wings spread wide, another figure advanced.
Lucifer.
"It’s been a while, Michael."
"It has, Lucifer."
Michael’s voice held a sorrowful note.
"It’s not too late. Please, stop this war and return to Heaven."
"It’s too late. Once an angel falls, there’s no going back."
Closing their eyes tightly, Michael drew a brilliant, pure white spear.
Lucifer, in contrast, summoned a pitch-black spear.
The tension was palpable.
In a flash, they clashed, and the force of their collision blew back nearby wraiths and even shook the fortress walls.
They moved at such incredible speed that it was impossible to see—at this rate, one of them could get seriously hurt or even die.
I needed to save Michael, who had always been there for me, and, because of the quest, Lucifer as well.
What should I do?
As I hesitated, my little companion looked at me with a serious expression.
"Kyuu!"
They wanted me to trust them.
Could they really do it? It seemed impossible.
But somehow, I felt a surge of confidence in them.
Maybe my little buddy could pull it off.
After a moment, I looked at them seriously.
"Just don’t push yourself too hard, okay?"
"Kyuu!"
The moment I agreed, something extraordinary happened.
My companion began to emit a radiant light, shooting up high into the sky, a beam of light piercing through the heavens.
The creature that had been nestled in my arms vanished, and dark clouds gathered above.
Sensing something unusual, both angels and wraiths turned their eyes skyward, and even Michael and Lucifer stopped to look up.
Slowly emerging from the clouds was a colossal figure.
A dragon-like form took shape, and as I stared in awe, I noticed a familiar look in its face.
"Is that… my little buddy?"
