The tense atmosphere in the dungeon was thickening as the day progressed. After another grueling battle, the men from the Wing Guild were visibly exhausted, breathing heavily and showing signs of fatigue. However, just as they were catching their breath, Kang Do-joon, the leader of the rogue party, took the opportunity to approach the two women again.

“Why isn’t Si-hyun participating in the battles? Is there a specific reason?” he asked, his voice dripping with curiosity. Si-hyun remained silent, her face unreadable.

Unperturbed by her silence, Do-joon continued, “Could it be…? That you’re just playing bodyguard to the student here?”

“Mind your own business,” Si-hyun finally replied, her tone sharp and dismissive.

But Do-joon didn’t seem discouraged. Instead, he smirked. “We could give you a free ride, you know. Want to come with us next time?”

“No, thanks.”

“Why not? I’m stronger than all those guys combined. It would be an easy trip if you let me carry you,” he pressed, his tone edging on suggestive.

Growing weary of his persistent pestering, Si-hyun ignored him and led Areum back to the men of the Wing Guild, putting physical distance between herself and Do-joon. It wasn’t worth engaging further with someone like him. As she walked away, Do-joon’s mocking voice trailed behind them.

“Whatever. But it doesn’t seem right for a woman to just sit back and get a free ride, you know?”

Si-hyun rolled her eyes, thinking how little sense he made—first offering to carry her, then shaming her for supposedly taking advantage. Some people were just too irrational to waste words on.

Beside her, Areum muttered angrily, “Just because he’s a B-rank, he thinks he’s all that…”

Si-hyun chuckled softly, patting Areum on the shoulder. Then she addressed the Wing Guild men, “You all can hold on till the end, right?”

“Of course!” they replied with enthusiasm, even as weariness weighed on them.

Si-hyun’s role was primarily to ensure their safety while they adjusted to the dungeon’s challenges. She had given them buffs and guidance throughout, but today, the final day, they were fighting without her assistance to prepare them for future C-rank dungeon forays without her. With promising members like Ji-han leading the group and Areum, though only E-rank, healing them after each encounter, the Wing Guild party was handling the dungeon effectively.

Even as fatigue set in, they rallied themselves to press forward, the need to conquer the dungeon and the presence of the rogues spurring them on.

Then, as they advanced, Do-joon approached Si-hyun and Areum again, his expression gleaming with a sinister intent. “Hey, ladies. Seriously, aren’t you tempted to join our party? We’d take good care of you.”

“Stop asking the same thing over and over,” Si-hyun replied curtly.

“Hmph…” Do-joon stroked his chin, contemplating something before sneering, “Too proud, huh? Well, let me ask this—what would you do if all those guys died? Still think you’d be saying no to me?”

Areum paled at his words, glancing nervously at Si-hyun.

“Are you going to come begging to me for your lives then?” he continued, grinning as he soaked in their discomfort.

Si-hyun narrowed her eyes at him, her face betraying none of her thoughts.

“Oh, giving me the death glare, huh? Hate to break it to you, but D-ranks aren’t exactly intimidating.”

Si-hyun let out a long, exhausted sigh. She hadn’t encountered someone this insufferable in a while, and the very interaction was draining.

Her eyes turned icy as she addressed him, her voice laden with condescension, “Listen, Kang Do-ssi.”

“What was that?” Do-joon growled, taken aback by her tone.

“Is it because your name has ‘thief’ in it that you can’t stop spewing nonsense?” she mocked with a scoff, her words dripping with disdain. “Know your place and leave us alone.”

Do-joon’s face twisted in anger, his hand reflexively reaching out towards her.

But Si-hyun, moving quickly, pulled Areum protectively to her side and sidestepped his attempt. They walked briskly away, joining the Wing Guild men.

Left holding empty air, Do-joon clenched his fist, his forehead pulsing with barely controlled rage. He would make sure she paid for the insult.

Gathering his subordinates, he outlined a plan, each man nodding in agreement.

The rogue party then adopted a strangely relaxed demeanor, some of them even yawning exaggeratedly as if to mock the other group. Ji-han noticed first and snapped, “Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

They snickered, amused by his outrage, and Do-joon stepped forward, saying with a smug grin, “Oh, didn’t I mention? We already know where the boss room is. It’s nearby.”

“Then hurry up and get ready for the fight! What’s wrong with you?!” Ji-han shouted, exasperated.

“Why would we?” Do-joon replied coolly, smirking as he added, “It’s better if we just keep all the rewards for ourselves.”

A tense silence settled over the area as the realization of betrayal sank in.

The Wing Guild members had no time to react; the skeleton mobs continued to advance toward them, forcing them to focus on the relentless undead. Meanwhile, the rogues activated their stealth abilities, disappearing from sight, leaving Do-joon the only visible target.

Casually, Do-joon walked over to Si-hyun and Areum, watching Si-hyun step in front of her student protectively.

“We’re still giving you a chance. Beg, and we might let you live,” he sneered.

“L-let us live…?” Areum stammered, peeking out from behind Si-hyun.

“Yes,” Do-joon said, feigning compassion. “My guys just went to lure more skeletons over here. Think about what that means.”

Areum’s face turned ashen as she processed his words, a tremble overtaking her body. Satisfied with her fear, Do-joon continued, “We’re just going to hide and watch until you’re all wiped out. Then we’ll stroll in, finish off the boss, and take the spoils. So… how does that feel?”

He relished the sight of Areum’s terrified expression and looked at Si-hyun, expecting her to be just as shaken. But she remained calm, unreadable, which only irritated him.

“What are you so confident about?” he scoffed. “Counting on your guys to protect you?”

He sneered as he watched the Wing Guild men struggle, exhausted but defiant. At the same time, his own team members began to emerge from their stealth, signaling that they were ready to execute his twisted plan.

Amidst their taunts, Si-hyun quietly murmured something under her breath, her voice low and almost inaudible.

Only Areum, standing close by, caught the words as they reached her ears like a whisper, “These beasts have crossed the line one too many times…”

A chill ran down her spine as she heard Si-hyun mutter, “Time for repentance.”
