That night, in Room 3-27 of the Bright Light Hotel in the Bright Light District.
Despite the cold winter night, a girl with dark hair and fair skin, wearing only a thin nightgown and appearing completely unconcerned, sat cross-legged on the bed with a fluffy teddy bear in her arms.
After listening to the angel sisters’ report, she nodded in satisfaction.
“Hmm, very valuable clues. It seems that the woman you encountered earlier might indeed be the holy knight Karina Brett, who was possessed by the mask in last night’s incident. It’s a good thing you were cautious and didn’t act recklessly. After all, that mask seems very strange. If you had fallen for it, it could have been quite troublesome.”
“Eh? Is it really that serious… My sister and I are both transcendent-level now, so dealing with some random enemies shouldn’t be a problem, right? Miss Violet, are you trying to scare us?”
Miss Rene, who was casually holding a pillow and sitting in her nightgown on the bed opposite Violet, seemed somewhat unconcerned.
In fact, ever since this little girl had successfully reached the transcendent level, her confidence had visibly skyrocketed. As she put it herself…
“I’m not the same as before! Now, I feel like I could take on ten of my old self!”
Hearing the girl’s confident declaration and seeing the four white wings flapping excitedly in the air, Violet could only show a hint of helplessness.
Leila, sitting next to her, skillfully raised her hand and tapped Rene on the head with a “Ouch!” sound.
“No matter how many of your current self you add up, it still wouldn’t match even one of Miss Violet’s fingers in strength. I don’t know what you’re boasting about. Since Lady Violet says it’s very dangerous, remember that and stay vigilant. Otherwise, you might end up in big trouble and need someone to come to your rescue.”
“Wuwu… Comparing me to Lady Violet is a bit too much. Let’s be real, with my current strength, even if I can’t walk all over Bright Light City, there shouldn’t be many who can beat me. Dealing with that wierd mask should be a piece of cake, right? It couldn’t be that it’s actually some divine being’s servant or something?”
“Why is it impossible? Haven’t we already encountered many bizarre and dangerous things on our way? Not to mention, with someone like Saintess Yuna Summerfield, who’s at the pinnacle of transcendence and has the power of a Holy Artifact, do you think you’d be her match?”
“Gulp! It’s just… a bit more luxurious equipment, what’s so impressive about that? I-I-I…”
Seeing the two sisters bickering as usual and having already gotten used to their daily interactions, Violet, who had taken off her fox mask, smiled and played peacemaker.
“Alright, alright, Leila is right. It’s always better to be cautious. While transcendent-level is indeed powerful, it’s far from invincible. Take Yuna, for example. Even within the transcendence level, there are significant variations. You’re both still newcomers to this level, so don’t be careless when you encounter enemies.”
After a moment of contemplation, Violet reached into the pitch-black void beside her and pulled out two strange-looking pendants.
“Since we’re talking about Artifacts, it’s been a while since you’ve been with me, and I haven’t given you any decent gifts, which is quite unfair. Since it’s not very safe in Bright Light City now and you’ll need to go out frequently in the future, take these two pieces of equipment for self-defense.”
“Wow… It’s actually a gift~”
“Miss Violet, this…”
The black-haired girl placed the pendants, which emitted a faint glow and were clearly valuable and paired, on the bed to display them, and then teased:
“Hey, hey, you’re not still trying to refuse, are you? That would be too out of line! I put a lot of thought into choosing these two necklaces as the most suitable equipment for your current situation. They should be able to effectively protect both of you.”
In fact, Violet had long intended to give some defensive items to Leila and Rene, including Theresa.
Every artifact has a different user level requirement and the minimum usage standard for Sacred Artifacts was Iv60, which is what they referred to as above legendary level.
However, this only applies to Sacred Artifacts with mediocre ability. Some Sacred Artifacts require a level above 70 due to their abilities approaching those of Semi-Divine Artifacts.
Before breaking through to the transcendence level, they wouldn’t have been able to use such items even if given.
Moreover, Violet felt it was useless to present such items when they were unable to use them, so she had postponed it until now.
Seeing that the sisters seemed to have silently exchanged glances and showed no further resistance, Violet nodded in satisfaction and smiled, stroking the gem on one of the pendants.
“Let me explain the general use of these items to you.”
The two necklaces are made of nearly a hundred tiny white round gems linked together, with the only difference being the large wing-shaped gem at the bottom of each necklace, one in gold and one in silver, facing in exactly opposite directions.
“This equipment is called 【Wings of Compassion】.”
【Wings of Compassion】 was a reward Violet received after completing certain prerequisite tasks when she obtained the Divine Artifact 【Feather Robe Graria】. It is a Sacred Artifact, divided into 【Left Wing】 and 【Right Wing】, requiring two players to each equip one.
While this Artifact might have relatively low stats, it has the potential to become incredibly powerful when used in conjunction with its counterpart. When worn by two players on the same team who are in close proximity, the 【Left Wing of Compassion】 and the 【Right Wing of Compassion】 can dramatically boost their combined attributes and activate some of its hidden abilities.
In such cases, 【Wings of Compassion】 can be considered one of the top-tier sacred artifacts.
The most important ability, 【Twin Feathers】, allows any damage received by either of the paired players to be split between them, resulting in a substantial reduction in damage taken.
In numerical terms, if the total damage is 10,000 points, each person would only lose about 5,000 health points. For large-scale AoE (Area of Effect) skills, both sides will be treated as a single entity, and only one instance of the same damage will be taken.
This ability is undoubtedly a lifesaver in various high-end or low-tier dungeons or PvP battles, especially important for mages with weaker physical defenses. The only drawback is that it requires binding to a teammate.
Because this equipment is tied to a system in the game called “Affinity Value”, which only appears between game friends and increases slowly through joint play and teamwork, the higher the affinity value, the stronger the hidden effects of 【Wings of Compassion】, such as the previously mentioned 【Twin Feathers】 ability, which will provide greater damage reduction when sharing damage.
Although this world is not a game, and the equipment’s effects haven’t changed much, affinity value can be understood as a bond or emotional connection. Thus, as biological sisters, Leila and Rene are perfect candidates for these two pieces of equipment.
Even though they were mentally prepared, hearing Violet explain the effects of the equipment left the sisters taking a sharp breath and looking visibly anxious.
Leila hesitated, glancing at the delicately glowing gem pendants in front of her, and tentatively said, “Lady Violet, this kind of incredible power must be beyond the level of magical equipment or even spiritual treasures, right? Such a precious artifact might be better kept by you and lady Xiao Guang. As for us…”
With a somewhat helpless shake of her head, the priestess pushed the two necklaces towards the sisters.
“Alright, alright… It’s not about divine or non-divine. At this level, it’s still far from being a divine artifact. Although it is indeed valuable, to me, it’s just another collectible that I don’t have use for. I’m not that selfless, truly valuable treasures are definitely kept for oneself. So don’t worry about such insignificant things.”
“Alright, you two should try them on and see if they fit the affinity… cough, I mean, see what effects you can get from them.”
“Okay…”
As the two girls carefully put the necklaces around their white, smooth necks, which began to emit a matching glow, Violet nodded to herself.
In fact, if she weren’t worried that carrying a high-grade spear or staff would be too conspicuous and might attract more danger and trouble, Violet had actually considered outfitting them with a full set of gear. She still had plenty of collectibles in her backpack that were either of Divine Artifact or Semi-Divine artifact quality.
Unfortunately, the game’s warehouse inventory didn’t travel with her to this world. Otherwise, not just two, but even ten times as many, Miss Priestess could immediately equip them all with perfect full sets of at least Sacred grade artifacts.
Though she still has most of the top-tier equipment in her default player’s inventory, her true reserves, such as currency, major materials, and various flashy but rarely used potions and items are typically stored in a larger warehouse. She would only retrieve them when needed.
Although the impact isn’t too big, she still felt a bit heartbroken when she thought about it from time to time.
Oh, I miss you so much, my dear warehouse… I wonder how you’re doing now…
