"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
The voices of countless protesters echoed across the entire empire.
In the Emperor's audience chamber, ten Swordmasters stood, facing their lord, the Emperor of Avalon.
The Emperor, unable to contain himself, finally shouted, “How could you, whom I believed to be my loyal swords, betray this empire?!”
Duke Adonis Ether, the highest-ranking Swordmaster, looked coldly at the Emperor and replied.
“This is not a betrayal of the Empire. On the contrary, it is for the Empire and its people.”
“To betray me is to betray the Empire!”
As the Emperor shouted, the doors of the audience chamber swung open, and a new figure entered.
“That can’t be right. The Empire exists because of its people.”
“You… you’re…”
A woman with long, flowing blonde hair, her delicate gaze contradicted by a piercing cold stare—Belliard Avalon, the innkeeper of the Moonlight Inn in the town of Beginnings and one of the Seven Archmages of the Arcana Continent, had appeared.
“It’s been a while, Father.”
The Emperor’s face contorted in shock.
After all, he had personally sent assassins to ensure her death, only to see her now, standing confidently before him.
“Are you talking about the time when you sent assassins to kill me as a child?”
Belliard gave a bitter smile, recalling her past.
The memories of her childhood flashed by—being labeled an illegitimate child, with assassins sent by the Emperor to end her life.
The Emperor’s expression twisted as he grew more furious, and, realizing there was no point in further conversation, he was escorted out by the knights.
“I’ll say it again—I didn’t return to take the throne.”
“I understand, Your Highness. Or rather, Your Majesty,” replied Duke Adonis Ether respectfully, causing Belliard to flinch in surprise.
She sighed deeply.
Originally, she had planned to spend the rest of her days quietly running her inn and teaching new students. But somehow, Yuna had found out her secret and had come to negotiate.
Yuna had proposed that they work together to reform the rotten Avalon Empire.
At first, Belliard had refused, but after persistent persuasion, she’d reluctantly agreed. Now, though, all she wanted was to return to her inn.
“Let’s calm the protesters first, shall we?”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
As they stepped outside the castle, they saw a sea of red flags waving among the protesters and monsters.
"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
"Transform the Avalon Empire!"
Taking out her staff from a dimensional pocket, Belliard struck the ground once.
*Boom!*
At the resounding noise, the entire crowd froze and turned to look at her.
“From today onward, a new history for the Avalon Empire begins!”
At Belliard’s declaration, cheers erupted.
---
A few days later, the coronation ceremony for the new emperor was held.
The streets were packed with people as they gathered to witness the ascension of the new ruler of the Avalon Empire.
The innkeeper from the Moonlight Inn in the town of Beginnings had risen to become emperor, and although some nobles were opposed, the overwhelming support of the ten Swordmasters and the Red Revolution had secured her place on the throne.
After all, many members of the Red Revolution were Travelers.
The nobles remembered Belliard as someone who had cared for the Travelers in the town of Beginnings, so opposition was minimal.
On one side of the celebration, a group of revolutionaries gathered, raising their glasses.
But amidst the celebration, a concern surfaced.
“There’s no longer any need to raise the flag of revolution in Avalon, is there?”
“It’s fine. We still have neighboring countries, don’t we?”
“As expected, Comrade Yuna, you’re so clever.”
If they couldn’t wave the flag in Avalon, they could always wave it elsewhere.
They could take their revolution to Arcadia, the homeland of all mages and a land filled with corruption according to the rumors surrounding the three great Mage Towers.
As they shared devious smiles, a trumpet sounded.
*Buuuuuuuuung!*
The coronation ceremony began.
As Belliard, crowned by the High Priest, raised her hand to the crowd, thunderous applause filled the air.
To celebrate the new emperor’s coronation, the empire held a week-long festival, providing unlimited food and drink to all citizens, with all costs covered by the royal treasury. Restaurant owners were ecstatic.
The revolutionaries enjoyed the festivities, drinking and celebrating until they finally logged out and returned to the real world. Yong-yong, my dragon companion, even popped out of his space, his cheeks flushed—probably from sneaking some drinks.
“Did you drink?”
“Kyu-ung!”
Yong-yong insisted that a celebratory drink was necessary for such a joyous occasion.
Since when did he become such a drinker?
I poked his cheeks, and he squirmed with ticklish giggles—was he trying to be adorable on purpose?
Hugging Yong-yong, I slipped into bed, closing my eyes in preparation for the next day’s plans.
---
The next morning, the sound of my alarm woke me. Stretching, I got up and saw Yong-yong sleeping on his back, belly up.
Normally, he’d wake up earlier than me, but he must have had too much to drink last night.
I gently patted him, and only then did he open his eyes to look at me.
“Kyu-ung.”
“Hm? Honey water? I’ll see if we have some.”
Only Yong-yong, my dragon, would ask for honey water after a hangover.
Or is it... my dragon?
I went down to the kitchen to look for honey, but couldn’t find any.
“Mom, do we have honey?”
“Here it is.”
There wasn’t any honey just a moment ago, so where did this honey in Mom’s hand come from?
She handed me the honey, and I mixed it into water before bringing it back to Yong-yong, who gulped it down in one go.
“Feeling better?”
“Kyu-ung.”
“Now you want spicy kimchi stew…?”
“Kyu-ung!”
“...”
I carried Yong-yong down to the kitchen, only to be greeted by the smell of kimchi stew.
But just a minute ago, it was beef soup!?
“When did you make kimchi stew?!”
“When I heard you were looking for honey, I assumed you’d want a hearty meal.”
“But I’m not the one eating it!”
Mom smiled, urging me to sit down. I sat, and she served the spicy kimchi stew.
I took a spoonful and fed Yong-yong, who let out a satisfied growl.
“You’re like an old man.”
“Kyu-ung!?”
After breakfast, today’s plan was to go for a walk in the nearby park with Yong-yong, visit a cafe, have lunch, and enjoy some leisurely shopping.
As I stepped outside, a black car was waiting—could it be…?
The door opened, and a woman I vaguely recognized, dressed in a suit, stepped out of the car.
“Traveler No. 1, it’s been a while.”
“Oh, it’s you… the team leader?”
“Would you have some time to talk?”
“Oh, um, yes, of course.”
She was much more polite than before.
But why…?
She even opened the car door for me, and I thanked her as I got in. The car started moving.
“So, where are we going?”
“That’s a secret.”
I gave her a confused look, but she just laughed and said we were going to the company.
The car quickly arrived at the company building, and as I followed the team leader inside, she led me somewhere unexpected.
We exited the elevator on a different floor this time, and the atmosphere was like a party…?
Suddenly, I heard the sound of fireworks.
*Pow! Pow! Pow!*
Out of nowhere, employees appeared, setting off fireworks—what was going on!?
My friend Nia showed up, took my hand, and led me up to the podium.
And then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, a certificate of commendation appeared.
“For your tremendous contribution to the growth of our game…”
Anyone watching would think I worked for the company!
What was this all about?!
I looked at Nia, hoping for an explanation, and she handed me a certificate and a trophy, smiling as she told me to face forward. As I turned, a crowd of employees congratulated me.
As I stood there dazed, Nia finally explained with a smile.
“The thing is… an AI robot predicted the future…”
According to Nia, the Avalon Empire was supposed to fall under the wrath of the people. But because I’d convinced my sister Belliard to take the throne, history had changed.
Seeing my bewildered expression, Nia patted my head and thanked me.
“Thank you, Yuna, for protecting another place I call home.”
