Although Pei Mingxuan didn’t know how Ji Fei had figured it out, going to the hospital first was definitely the right call.

After all, Pei Mingxuan was planning to sign Sun Man, so there was no way she could ignore the situation. Initially, she didn’t want Qin Zhao and Ji Fei to come along, fearing that being seen together might stir up trouble, but Ji Fei insisted, leaving Pei with no choice. Naturally, Qin Zhao followed as well.

In the car, Pei Mingxuan anxiously made calls, trying to pull some strings to find out what had happened. But even industry insiders were baffled, unaware of what had led to the incident; they’d only heard the news and were just as shocked.

Then Pei came across some new dirt posted by Sun Man’s haters on social media.

“These people are seriously despicable, editing photos like this. Aren’t they afraid of being sued? Must be a bunch of brainless trolls with messed-up morals,” she muttered angrily, though she hadn’t yet connected it with Sun Man’s suicide attempt. After all, seeing slander of this level was sadly common for well-known celebrities. If Pei had already been Sun Man’s agent, she would’ve had it taken down in minutes.

Ji Fei, meanwhile, was staring at the photos on her phone, her hand trembling slightly.

One of the pictures showed Sun Man lying face down on a bed, as if asleep. It wasn’t clear if she was clothed—just a blanket covering her strategically, though her skin showed traces of something intimate. It was obviously an aftermath photo of a private moment.

The photo was suggestive enough to be edgy but still skirted moderation, so it had managed to stay up for a while.

Gradually, people began sharing the picture, spreading it in small circles.

But most users reported the original poster, calling them sick. They defended Sun Man, noting that her wholesome image and good character made it unlikely she’d ever take such photos. She hadn’t even shown that much skin in any of her roles.

So the general assumption was that the photos were fakes posted by haters trying to cash in on her popularity.

Qin Zhao saw the photos too, his brows furrowing as he glanced over at Ji Fei. For the first time, he saw her face so dark, and even her thoughts were silent, seemingly too angry to think clearly.

Then he remembered the accusation Ji Fei had muttered earlier, something about Sun Man’s suicide being linked to Lang Zhe.

Looking at the photos again, Qin Zhao could piece together some of it: perhaps these images had leaked from Lang Zhe. He’d heard of men who liked to take intimate photos with their girlfriends, and once they were out there, it was only a matter of time before they got exposed. Maybe Sun Man had just been unlucky this time.

However, judging from the photos and people’s reactions, Qin Zhao thought Sun Man’s personality was too resilient to be so easily crushed. How could it have escalated to the point of suicide?

Soon they arrived at the hospital and quickly found her room number. As they headed over, they spotted Sun’s mother and uncle by the door, whispering to each other with grim expressions.

Ji Fei let out a cold snort. **“If Lang Zhe is a monster, then these two are worse. If it weren’t for them, Sun Man wouldn’t have been pushed to such despair.”**

Qin Zhao grew even more curious. His phone buzzed—it was the family group chat. Everyone had seen the news and knew they were at the hospital.

They couldn’t come to such a situation themselves, but they were eager to know what had happened, ready to jump in with “justice fists” if needed.

Sun’s mother and uncle noticed them approaching. Their faces fell, especially when they saw Pei Mingxuan.

“What are you here for?” Sun’s uncle asked rudely.

Pei Mingxuan didn’t bother with pleasantries. “Sun Man is about to become my artist. I’m here to see if there’s anything I can help with.”

“Bullshit! Sun Man would never dissolve her studio.” Sun’s uncle snapped back, clearly aware of Sun Man’s decision and filled with resentment.

Sun’s mother, glaring as well, added, “We don’t need you meddling in our business. Please leave.”

“First, you force her into a marriage proposal, and now you’re blocking her friends from visiting. Do I have reason to suspect that maybe it’s you two who drove her to this?” Ji Fei’s voice was cold. “If you don’t let us see her, we’ll call the police.”

The threat was flimsy at best, just a way to apply some pressure, but it wasn’t likely to scare Sun’s mother and uncle. Pei Mingxuan and Qin Zhao both doubted it would work.

However, the next moment, they saw both of them go pale, eyes darting nervously. Despite their aggressive fronts, they hesitated, reluctant to insist on turning them away.

“We’re her closest relatives. Why would we harm her?” Sun’s uncle stammered.

“Yeah, don’t think you’re some kind of ‘Entertainment Judge’ and say whatever you want. We’ll… we’ll call the police ourselves if we have to.”

Their obvious guilt instantly changed Pei Mingxuan’s expression, and she picked up her phone.

Seeing this, Sun’s mother and uncle panicked, thinking she was calling the police. Their faces drained of color.

“Fine, go in. But she’s still unconscious,” Sun’s mother muttered, quickly stepping aside.

Ji Fei gave a cold huff and walked in first.

Pei Mingxuan and Qin Zhao followed, closing the door behind them. Pei finally spoke up, “So, could it be…?”

Qin Zhao glanced at Ji Fei. “They definitely did something to her. That’s why they’re acting so guilty.”

**“Of course they’re guilty. When Sun Man hit rock bottom and asked them for money to help her out, she found that all her savings had already been secretly transferred to her cousin by these two. Sun’s mother and uncle thought they wouldn’t be caught, but they didn’t know that Lang Zhe had already conned her out of the rest. So when she turned to them as her last hope and found nothing, she felt utterly trapped. Betrayed by her ex and by her own family, she hit her breaking point.”**

Hearing this, Qin Zhao finally understood part of the truth, anger surging within him as he clenched his fists, itching to turn around and punch someone.

Because of Chu Xinyue, Qin Zhao had a particular disdain for parents who neglected their own children. He was already plotting ways to make them pay.

But he still wondered—what had driven Sun Man to such a desperate point?

As they moved past the entryway, they spotted Lu Fei coming out.

“Teacher Lu?” They were all surprised.

Lu Fei nodded. “I heard voices and thought there might be some conflict, so I came over.” She knew about Sun Man’s management change and understood the two relatives might cause trouble, so she’d come herself to assist.

Sun’s mother and uncle, still clinging to dreams of an in-law relationship, had no objections to Lu Fei’s presence here.

Seeing Lu Fei, Ji Fei’s expression hardened, and she walked quickly toward the inner room.

Qin Zhao noticed the killing intent in Ji Fei’s gaze.

In a few steps, Ji Fei stopped abruptly, her eyes locked on the figure by the hospital bed.

Lang Zhe sat there, staring blankly, gripping his phone tightly.

He looked like someone devastated, crushed by the reality of his beloved’s suicide attempt. Even Pei Mingxuan frowned slightly, and Qin Zhao almost believed that Lang Zhe might have accidentally leaked the photos, leading to this tragic outcome.

But then, Ji Fei’s thoughts cut through with a sneering voice.

**“Shameless scum, pretending to be guilt-ridden now? Did you ever think she’d go as far as suicide when you were staging your little drama to extort her?”**

Qin Zhao’s gaze shifted toward Lang Zhe, a sense of shock taking hold.

Staging a scene?

Extortion?
