“Mom, I need to send some stuff from the rental apartment back, please make sure to sign for it in the next couple of days.”
“Mm-hmm... Don’t go through my things! Just sign for it, and leave it somewhere until I get back and organize it.”
Inside the apartment, all the scattered odds and ends, fall and winter clothes, and the massive collection of toys had been packed up and were being carried downstairs by Wen Yang.
Ning Chu leaned forward and rested on the windowsill, peering down at Wen Yang who was talking with the delivery man. She continued talking to her mother on the phone, “I’ll be going back alone for the holidays. Wen Yang’s heading to Shanghai.”
“Why are you going back alone?”
“Aren’t you getting married to Uncle? I can’t just skip out on a free meal, can I?”
Her mother, clearly worried, asked, “But Wen Yang won’t be there. What will you do by yourself?”
