Living Without Children

For years now, Heeju had lived without children, but she found herself increasingly envious of families walking together, parents pushing strollers, their babies giggling in the autumn breeze.

“Call him.”

In-ah, sitting cross-legged, gestured imperiously with her chin.

“If you’re upset about something, be honest and say it. You’re a married couple, for crying out loud. Does he think he’s the only one working? Does he think congressmen are some rare species with just one or two in existence? There are so many of them they might as well be rice weevils.”
