Not just Korea’s, but the world’s largest academy, it was located in the city of Sariwon.
After North Korea collapsed and was unified under South Korea, the former North Korean regions were less developed and had poorer public safety compared to the southern regions. Despite this, Choi Kang-in built Kangin Academy in Sariwon, a city situated between Pyongyang and Kaesong.
This decision was symbolic, signifying that the northern territories wouldn’t be neglected. Moreover, Sariwon’s abundance of vacant land allowed for the construction of an academy so vast it resembled an entire village.
