Silence hung in the air. Breaking the stillness, I spoke to Song Hojung.
“I’m not here to listen to excuses. Let’s be honest—it’s true, isn’t it?”
Whether it was because he thought I’d go and wreak havoc, or perhaps feared the young leader would fall under the influence of the Azure Dragon Division, or for any other reason, Song Hojung ultimately didn’t trust me.
Had he truly understood, he wouldn’t have acted so recklessly.
“Were you trying to avoid implicating the division? Or did you genuinely believe you could handle it alone? Whatever the reason, your actions were wrong.”
“…”

why is this mission soo elongated? feels like its going on for a month now. i wonder what is the author waiting for? he had more then enough time to escalate everything and close this mission. i cant see the reason why is this so forcefully elongated, if he just gives time for daddy to arrive, he could've just started a chapter with "3 days passed" or something. feels so pointless to write so much about this situation, while every other event was closed in 2, max 3 days
He's setting up the dynamics and developing characters that are a part of Yangcheons Unit. It's been somewhat clear that he's slowly building it up for him to win over and somewhat change the Martial Alliance portion of his Unit. He's also showing instead of telling how deep the corruption and pointless politic-ing/petty infighting goes. Also setting up the downfall of one of the most important characters in the Martial Alliance, The Azure Dragon Commander, and how he's outmanouvering one of the highest ranking characters within the rules of the orthodox sect.
true, if he wants to keep his unit then i get the development on that side, but he said that he will be here only for 1 year, so in that perspective its kinda pointless, unless he brings someone with him when he leaves. On the other hand, he set up his fall ages ago, he could've dealt with him already multiple times,
i think you are both right at the same time the author is showing how dirty the alliance is and how our boy is not only strong af but very cunning too . the alliance NEED to be purged before he leaves for the main quest BUT i also think he is taking too much time for this particular opponent .he is one of the top dogs yes but only one individual and squad ... if the author takes the same time like this for the others at this pace it will take 100 more chapter . waay to much imo
Imo it's important to set up the unit because even if he leaves the Martial Alliance, those characters might remain and set up a domino effect to cause change inside the Martial Alliance. And that would have major repercutions on the world and Yangcheon himself given that he is defining himself and his goals based his opposition, I wonder how he'd react if the Martial Alliance succeeded in purging (a significant chunk at least) of the internal corruption and hypocrisy... would he face an identity crisis? Would he be able to let be able to let go a little bit of the burdens he's carrying alone? Would he be able to open up a little and start trusting at least the people who he can see are not hypocrites and do some good in the world? Imo for those payoffs to be sweeter this kind of set up is necessary. So personaly I'm enjoying this arc. Also kinda answers the question he made of himself of why he had many loyal followers even when he is a ruthless leader and seeing that in action is fun for me. :)
oh i agree with you i just think it could be done faster , still i trust the author. he never disappoint us soo far .
I can fully agree with that :)
