One day, one of my subordinates said something like this.
"Deputy Chief, you know, I liked waking up to the sound of my mother cooking in the morning. The sound of the chopping board as she prepared ingredients, the bubbling stew, and the fragrant smell that wafted towards me at the end, which made me get up from bed without even realizing it."
"But last time, you were always sleeping in and got scolded by your mother," I said.
"...Ahem! When did I ever say that? Deputy Chief, you are surprisingly playful," he stammered.
"No, I clearly remember you saying that when you first went out on a monster hunting mission. You said you hated being scolded back then, but now you even miss it," I replied.
"Ahem! Ahem!"
Unable to stop my words, he cleared his throat loudly to drown out my voice.
