“What a damn nuisance.”

Kim Hayeong ignored her constantly ringing phone and sipped her coffee leisurely. She didn’t even need to check the screen to know it was Nam Taekyung calling. He must’ve had trouble getting money together—he’d started stealing things from the house and pawning them off. For Kim Hayeong, anything that made money was fine by her. Expensive items were far better than the small sums he occasionally tossed her.

While the family was away, Nam Taekyung would load up costly art pieces and jewelry into his car, and Kim Hayeong would list them on auction sites or secondhand platforms. Compared to Nam Jiyun, who whined about being broke, Nam Taekyung was far more appealing—utterly shameless, unscrupulous, and guilt-free.

Though he seemed to have grown up in a relatively normal household, unlike herself, how had such a pure sociopath emerged? If he’d been raised in an environment like hers, she was certain he would’ve committed countless crimes by now. She scoffed at the thought.

Even now, he was probably calling to beg her to kill Ha Giyeon, who had now become Chairman Lee Myungwon’s official grandson. Unfortunately for him, Kim Hayeong had no intention of doing that. Nam Jiwoo had been killed by Taekyung himself—she had merely helped dispose of the body, so it hadn’t been her concern. But murder was something else entirely.

Sure, if he’d offered her a hefty enough sum, she might’ve considered it. But what Taekyung was asking came with too much risk. Killing the only grandson of the most powerful pharmaceutical chairman in Korea? Not only was it difficult to pull off—it would be discovered in no time. Just because he’d killed his own father once didn’t mean murder was easy now. If he lost control again and went berserk, he’d end up destroying himself.

“Should I stomp him down before he causes more trouble?”
