Theo’s brow furrowed, as if he hadn’t quite understood what Luke meant. Seeing that expression, Luke let out another sigh without realizing it.

“You remember what you said when I left the Kailum branch? That you needed me, and asked if I’d consider rejoining the military.”

“Yeah. But you said you had no intention of enlisting again.”

Luke nodded. He’d been so firm about it then—no wonder Theo had said things like wanting to leave the army and go with him.

“I mean, honestly, I didn’t think I’d ever make this kind of decision…”

Luke roughly tousled the back of his head. When his silver hair turned messy, Theo immediately reached out and smoothed it down.

“I’ll re-enlist.”
