The Legitimate Empire — formally styled “The Legitimate Empire of Zain=Warden and Warden=Zain, chosen by God.”

The Empire had its origin in the anti-infidel alliance forged between its two sworn enemies: the royal house of Zain and the royal house of Warden.

At present, the Warden line had completely driven out the Zain line. Through forced monastic vows, assassinations, and every other means, over the span of a century they had exterminated the Zain male line.

Of course, all of this had been erased from the history books.

The reigning emperor was Denal III, eldest son of the late Emperor Fold II, the lecher whose lusts had brought endless trouble to the imperial house.

Never one to appear in public, Denal III was called by the lords “the Transparent Monarch,” “the Emperor of the Study.” The less respectful whispered “the Bundle of Edicts” or “the Cowardly Emperor.”
