The Guardian Monument contained records and power concerning the history engraved upon this land and the grace bestowed upon it.

In the modern era, after the Otherworld Collisions began, it was treated merely as one of the historical sources used to study the Founding of the Heavenly Line myth. Yet the Guardian Monument was proof that the Tiger Clan of the mythic realm had been victorious, and at the same time a token proving that this land still remained connected to the supernatural.

The only Guardian Monument known to still remain today stood at Baegun Peak of Cheoniksan. It recorded how the Heavenly God descended from the open sky and granted the wishes of the sacred tigers, and how the divine being came to rule this land.

Because it was such an important record, it had been created with good materials on land rich with spiritual power and well exposed to sunlight.

But Yeongin’s Guardian Monument was different.

Among the Guardian Monuments erected across the entire Korean Peninsula, it had been built in the place farthest from the divine domain, on dark and shaded ground, using crude materials.

If the divine being had not pleaded on Yeongin’s behalf, a Guardian Monument bearing Yeongin’s name would never have been erected at all. Yeongin would have been treated as if they had never existed.
