Rebirth of the Useless Bastard Son
Chapter 1 Table of contents

Jincheng City, under the jurisdiction of Tianfan Immortal Sect in the Hengwu Continent, was a remote town where most residents were warriors trained since childhood, emphasizing respect for power, with recognition given only to those with considerable strength.

Jincheng City remained lively today; its streets filled with people. Teahouse waiters’ endeavor to attract passing customers, and the bustling teahouse hall echoed with chatter and laughter. Yet, the prevalent topic of discussion centered around a singular individual.

“Have you noticed more than a dozen  doctors going in and out of Li Mansion in the past two days?”

“I heard from Dr. Sun, who visited Li Mansion, the third young master of the Li family has a peculiar incurable disease.  Doctor Xue mentioned signs of poisoning. He seemingly committed suicide by taking poison.”

“This coward should be left to his death. It’s truly shameful to easily resort to suicide. The madam of Li Mansion has a kind heart, or else who would bother saving him.”

“I recall Li Tianyan recently got married. What’s the issue?”

“Isn’t it about the marriage? Li Tianyan fell in love with Cheng family. Everyone in Jincheng City knew it was the eldest daughter of Cheng family, but he ended up marrying a concubine from the Cheng Mansion.”

“What’s wrong with a concubine? Li Tianyan wants to be a cultivator but he can’t do it. He was found to have five spiritual roots. Tianfan Immortal Sect deems him unqualified as a disciple, making him no different from a useless person. The Cheng family, as the leader of four major families in Jincheng, refuses to give him their legitimate daughter.”

“He is not as good as us. Even without spiritual roots, we can practice martial arts. The eldest daughter of the Cheng family is acquired third-level warrior. Li Tianyan’s ambition is like a toad trying to eat swan meat.”

“You don’t know this, right? The Cheng family’s shuanger were born extremely ugly and kept in the backyard all year round.”

“I also heard he has a green face and fangs, as scary as Shura Yaksha. It seems his fate is as bad as his appearance. How could he have a good life after marrying Li Tianyan?”

“No wonder things turned out this way.”

.

Li Tianyan gazed at the pear flower-carved wood on the bed frame. Though such objects were unfamiliar in his world, the integration of another person’s memories into his consciousness made everything remarkably familiar.

Originally, he was a cultivator from Tianyun Continent, his journey near a mountain took an unexpected turn when a thunderbolt struck him, transforming him into a person from a foreign continent who had recently died.

Merging with the original owner’s memories, Li Tianyan identified his current location as Hengwu Continent. Here, only cultivators of what people referred to as Tianfan Immortal Sect existed, while the ordinary people were practicing martial arts.

Warriors were classified into acquired and innate, each with nine levels. Those warriors with the high level, despite reaching great heights, faced a limited lifespan of three hundred years. Generally, individuals at this level were nearing the end of their lives. If they were compared with a ninth level of Qi Condensation, these warriors couldn’t even get into the cultivator’s eyes. Thus, in their eyes, Tianfan Immortal Sect stood as the supreme existence.

The election of Tianfan Immortal Sect was held every ten years, offered people a chance to ascend over the dragon gate. If one possessed spiritual roots, acceptance by Tianfan Immortal Sect elders was possible. However, Hengwu Continent’s scarce spiritual energy rendered the so-called Tianfan Immortal Sect merely a few Core Formation masters, with the revered immortals being Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The young man into whom he reincarnated shared his name, surname, and even resembled him by 70%. A common young master from a warrior family, he held the position of the third eldest son.

Born into a warrior family, the young man faced judgment for being physically unsuitable for martial arts. Despite this, Father Li, cherished him. Li Tianyan’s biological mother, from the declining Yin family, possessed a clan member with three spiritual roots. His father, Li Pei, hoped their bloodline would inherit spiritual roots, benefiting the Li family by joining Tianfan Immortal Sect.

Fate took an unexpected turn during the recent general election. Li Tianyan, with the unfortunate talent of five spiritual roots, became the laughing stock of Jincheng. But Li Tiancheng, the second young master of the Li family, possessed wood, earth, and metal roots, gaining immediate acceptance as a registered disciple.

Struggling with a feeble physique and inadequate roots, Li Tianyan faced ridicule in Jincheng. His misfortune escalated when his mother fell seriously ill and passed away within a month.

Despite being a concubine born son, Li Tianyan, accustomed to a life of comfort by his father’s doting, suddenly found himself forgotten by the entire Li family, shattered by the overnight loss of his father’s expectations.

Then the young master, Li Tianyan, passed away just like that.

.

Li Wu, entering the room with a tray, noticed the person on the bed had awakened and couldn’t help but curl his lips, “Young master, you are finally awake. Our madam, being generous, took every  doctor from Jincheng in just two days. They were called so they could revive you, young master. Please don’t attempt suicide again.”

Li Tianyan stared coldly at the visitor. Li Wu, who grew up with the original owner, was once flattering during Li Tianyan’s glory, but as soon as the original owner lost power, this little guy immediately changed his demeanor.

Although Li Wu remained the sole servant of the original owner, he didn’t address Li Tianyan with respect, and his tone was somewhat unruly. It seemed staying in Qingzhu Courtyard to serve him might not have been entirely voluntary.

Reluctantly, Li Tianyan sat up with both hands on the bed, taking a few breaths. This body, born with deficiencies and seriously ill, was even more challenging to adapt to. Li Tianyan found it difficult to adjust to such a weakened state.

Li Wu, noticing Li Tianyan’s hesitation, placed the tray on the table and said, “Since the young master is awake, drink the medicine while it’s hot. Valuable medicinal materials have been used here.”

“Get something to eat,” Li Tianyan instructed, disregarding Li Wu’s attitude, and said after he regained his breath.

“Okay, young master. Remember to drink the medicine.” Li Wu replied before leaving the room.

.

Li Tianyan, holding onto the bedpost, got off the bed, walked to the table, picked up the bowl of black medicinal soup, and sniffed it, a dark light flashing in his brown eyes.

This decoction contained an herb that could detoxify hundreds of poisons. However, even though this herb could detoxify, it was also toxic. Even if the original owner survived after taking too much, he would either become useless or bedridden for the rest of his life.

Li Tianyan had long suspected that the original owner had been poisoned, and this bowl of medicinal soup confirmed it. He didn’t know how much he had been fed in the past two days, this explained why he felt something was wrong with his body upon waking up.

Listening to what Li Wu just said, Hong Man, the madam of Li Mansion, had invited all the  doctors in Jincheng for the past two days. If a warrior had a physical problem, he would ask a pharmacist to see him. Only mortals would seek medical treatment from a  doctor.

Hong Man’s actions on the surface made people thought she treated Li Tianyan with kindness and respect, but in fact, she was reminding everyone that Li Tianyan was just an ordinary person.

At the same time, she could also disassociate herself from Li Tianyan’s poisoning. Thinking of Li Wu’s words not to commit suicide again, it seemed that everyone in Jincheng thought that Li Tianyan committed suicide by taking poison.

He had just poured the medicinal soup into the potted plant under the window. Li Wu, who had gone out to get some food, also happened to come back.

Li Tianyan sat down at the table, picked up the porridge bowl, and ate slowly.

Li Tianyan used to fast for a long time as cultivator, but this mortal body couldn’t withstand hunger, and the warm rice soup immediately relieved his stomach a lot.

Li Wu, who was standing aside, looked at the other person curiously. The young master today seemed different from the past, but he couldn’t tell what was wrong.

When he saw that Li Tianyan had almost finished, Li Wu said with a smile, “Young master, don’t you hate your newlywed wife the most? During the time when you were in a coma, madam had already punished him for you.”
