“Xiao Bao, please speak. Don’t scare your mother. Wake up and take a look at your mother.”

“Sister-in-law, don’t be like this. Put the child down first.”

“Gui Lan, calm down.”

“Xiao Bao is my life. He is only six years old. How can you tell me to calm down.”

“Hey!”

“Obviously the water in his stomach has been vomited out. Why can’t we save him?”

As soon as Li Tianyan and Cheng Qi arrived near the river at the entrance of the village, they saw many people gathered around. A woman in the middle cried bitterly while holding a soaked child in her arms. The people all had serious looks on their faces.

“There is evil ghost in the river.” Tan Eyu’s figure suddenly appeared next to the two of them, staring into the river with excitement. She didn’t know why, but she felt a little greedy when she smelled the evil ghost.

Cheng Qi also found that the evil ghost in the river was grabbing the child’s soul and was about to sink into the water. He turned his head and said to Tan Eyu, “I’ll leave the things in the water to you. Don’t hurt the child.”

“I got it.” Tan Eyu said a little impatiently, then plunged into the river in front of him, chasing the water ghost.

Li Tianyan and Cheng Qi looked at each other, and they both dismounted and went to check.

“Give some way.” Cheng Qi pushed through the people around and walked to the middle, saying to the woman holding the child, “Auntie, put the child down, he can still be saved.”

“Hey, who are you? Where did you two come from?” Only then did the villagers notice the two strangers who appeared.

“We are  doctors. If you still want to save your child, put him down first.” Cheng Qi saw the woman’s wary eyes and explained patiently.

Sure enough, when the woman heard that he was a  doctor, she quickly laid the boy with a purple face in her hand flat on the ground. Cheng Qi put two fingers on the child’s neck and probed, and found that there was still a weak pulse. He took out the life-extending medicinal pill from his body and sent a message to Tan Eyu, asking her to move faster.

Li Tianyan stood aside and looked at Cheng Qi who was busy rescuing people. He felt relieved but couldn’t help but feel a little sad. Unknowingly, the little shuanger had grown up a lot and was able to stand on his own. It seemed that he was no longer needed.

While the villagers looked at him with doubts, the boy who had seemed already dead suddenly burst into tears with a loud cry. The woman saw it with an ecstatic smile on her face and thanked Cheng Qi again and again and the child was held tightly in her arms.

“Xiao Bao, Xiao Bao, you scared your mother to death. Thank God. Fortunately, I met a noble person.”

The surrounding villagers were amazed to see the child come back to life. They had been rescuing it for a long time to no avail. But this person only gave him a pill and saved his life.

“Thank you,  doctor, for saving my child. I’ll go home and pick up the consultation fee as soon as possible.” A man standing next to the woman who was also soaked said to Cheng Qi with joy.

“No…” The people here were not well-dressed, and it was obvious at a glance that they were from poor families. It was not easy for Cheng Qi to ask for medical fees, but before he could say anything, Li Tianyan spoke before him, “The consultation fee is twenty copper coins.”

“Twenty, okay, the two  doctors will wait a moment.” When the man heard that it was twenty copper coins, he was secretly relieved, turned around, and ran towards home.

Their family didn’t have much spare money anymore. If the medical fee was too high, they might have had to borrow it from other people. But these days were difficult times, and no one had that much spare money to lend them. Fortunately, the doctor only needed 20 copper coins.

“Thanks to the doctor’s intervention, otherwise the child would have really died.” A man who was over mid-year-old came over to thank Cheng Qi, and then he realized that the person who saved the life was actually shuanger.

Cheng Qi waved his hand and said, “You’re welcome, it’s an easy thing to do.”

“You two are tired from the journey, why don’t you come to my place for a cup of water.” The village chief warmly invited the two of them.

Li Tianyan recognized this person as the village chief among other villagers. After thinking about it, he nodded in agreement, “Please excuse us.”

The other villagers saw that the child was okay, said goodbye, and went home. Li Tianyan and Cheng Qi led the horse and followed the village chief to the place where his family lived. The houses they saw along the way were all dilapidated mud houses, which showed that the people in this village were living a very tight life.

.

As soon as a few people entered the village chief’s house, the child’s father brought the medical fee and thanked Cheng Qi again, “Doctor, thank you so much.”

“Okay, Da Zhuang. Go home and spend time with your children.” Seeing him looking anxious to go back but afraid to leave, the village chief waved to him.

“Okay, okay, doctor, please sit down. I’ll go home and see the child first.” The man saw that the village chief was already entertaining the two doctors, and after speaking, he left quickly.

“I don’t know what the two doctors’ name?” The village chief took the brown sugar water from his wife and placed it on the table in front of the two guests.

Li Tianyan was the first to speak, “My surname is Li, and this is my wife, his surname is Cheng.”

The village chief had already guessed the relationship between the two, but after hearing this, he couldn’t help but be surprised, his face full of compliments. “Doctor Li and his wife have excellent medical skills at a young age. They are really promising.”

Although the young man named Li did nothing just now, the village chief did not dare to underestimate him at all, and then asked curiously, “Are you two out for a trip?”
