The Villainess’s Guide to Winning the Male Lead
Chapter 12 Table of contents

“Sorry, but I think I need to go now.”

Since I had brought Selena without notice, her escort had not followed us.

I told Eric,

“I’ll stay here, so take Selena back.”

This was a good opportunity to chat with the viewers. Having Eric around was just a distraction.

“Don’t go anywhere, just stay put.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Eric looked at me distrustfully, but I casually waved my hand to send him off.

Once everyone had left and it became quiet, I finally sat down on a nearby bench to catch my breath.

The conversation with the viewers drifted to more personal chatter, but suddenly the topic shifted dramatically.

[PleaseShakeACarrot: But what about the assassin issue?]

[Isaac: right]

[Gold2: Keep being careless and you’ll die againㅋㅋ]

The chat was still buzzing about the time I had previously ‘game overed’. It had been quite a significant event.

[LLoading: Did it hurt?]

“No, not at all?”

Strangely, I didn’t feel any pain.

I had felt minor pain from small injuries in my daily life, but when it came to a major injury that caused death, there was no pain at all. Maybe Gabriela had something to do with it.

I scanned the viewer list and suddenly felt something was off, so I asked,

“Where’s the manager?”

The manager was always quiet, so I hadn’t noticed his absence just by looking at the chat.

[PleaseShakeACarrot: Oh, it’s his day off!]

Well, the manager should have a day off too. I broadcast every day, so he must have been short on rest.

“Is it okay for the person in the manager role to be absent?”

[asdf: There’s an assistant manager, so it’s fine.]

“Who’s that?”

[asdf: Me.]

[Poppopo: Yep, her.]

So, asdf must be a high-ranking angel to take on the role of the assistant manager.

‘After all, she’s in charge of the role of Venecia in this world.’

I didn’t exactly understand what that role entailed, but it seemed like a position of high standing.

Maybe this was the right time to bring it up? The manager would surely oppose it vehemently if he knew. It might be best to speak while he was away.

“About the time I died.”

[Gold2: Why so morbidㅋㅋ;]

[Something: When you game overed?]

“Anyway.”

[NyamNyamoo: What about when you died?]

[AsparagusCharm: ??]

“I ended up going back to the Celestial Realm.”

[PleaseShakeACarrot: Really???]

[Stress: That’s a shame]

[Poppopo: There was a chance to meetㅋㅋ]

“So, I was thinking, if I end up going to the Celestial Realm again, maybe we could do something like a fan meeting?”

[asdf: A fan meeting]

[PleaseShakeACarrot: Wow, I’m in favor!!!]

[OnlyFinley: Me too! Definitely going!!!]

[Isaac: I’ll go too]

[Gold2: Yeah, sounds goodㅋㅋ]

[Flowerflute: I’m looking forward to seeing you in person :)]

The atmosphere in the chat window was positive. There wasn’t a single negative reaction.

[PleaseShakeACarrot: But you’d have to die again to go thereㅠㅠ Are you okay with that?]

[asdf has donated 1,000 points!]

[Poppopo: He’s really splurging]

[Stress: Really rich with points…….]

[Gold2: Right, we can donate and make it happenㅋㅋ]

[OnlyFinley: Starting today, let’s save up points, everyone]

[Something: I’ll try my best]

[LLoading: ^^7]

[Pongdang: But is it okay to do this without the manager’s permission?]

As expected, the conversation turned to the manager. That’s why I brought it up when he was absent.

[asdf: If a fan meeting is arranged, the manager will have to handle everything]

[HenaYo: We’ll need a location too]

[Isaac: The manager will take care of that]

[OnlyFinley: Stop, or the manager will really get angry; let it go]

[Poppopo: He’s really fussyㅋㅋ quite the grump]

[Gold2: Agreed]

[LLoading: Grumpy―]

[Isaac: Grumpy―]

[asdf: Idiots, this chat is recordedㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ]

[Isaac: ???]

[Poppopo: Oh no]

[Stress: ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Good luck]

Everyone took advantage of the manager’s absence to gossip. It seems like even angels find their bosses annoying.

[asdf: Why suddenly a fan meeting?]

“Just curious. I wondered what you all were like.”

[PleaseShakeACarrot: Wow, Nuna is curious about us……. That’s kind of touching…….]

[OnlyFinley: Touching…….]

“Of course.”

Compared to the number of viewers, only a few were active in chat. Most just watched silently.

That’s why I felt a stronger connection to those few active viewers. That was the reason I wanted to see them.

“I’ll talk to the manager about it.”

[Something: Sounds reliable]

[OnlyFinley: I bet he’ll listen if you say it]

[PleaseShakeACarrot: Probably…….]

Everyone seemed convinced.

* * *

The manager joined just before I ended the broadcast.

After ending the broadcast, I stayed behind to chat with the manager as usual.

“Weren’t you off today?”

[Manager: Yeah, I was.]

“Then why did you come in?”

[Manager: Can I trust to leave you alone?]

Taking on unnecessary work even on a day off. He was asking for trouble.

“What did you do while you weren’t working?”

[Manager: Didn’t I tell you not to take an interest in me?]

[Manager: Just rested at home.]

“Such a tsundere.”

[Manager: What’s that supposed to mean?]

“You don’t need to know.”

Despite telling me not to take an interest, he answered all my questions.

“Even angels take breaks just like us.”

[Manager: What else would they do?]

“Do you just lie around and space out?”

[Manager: I don’t waste time like that.]

“That’s kind of annoying.”

I felt a bit offended since I usually spent time after broadcasts just staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.

So, angels are the same. This made me more curious about the viewers.

I decided to bring up the topic since it was just the two of us left.

“I was talking about a fan meeting with the angels earlier. Did you see the chat log?”

[Manager: ? What fan meeting]

“Go check it out.”

He hadn’t seen the chat log yet. Usually, there was no need to check it.

After a while, the manager typed in the chat.

[Manager: These brats, talking behind my back when I’m not here]

[Manager: ㅡㅡ]

He found out. Since I played a big part in him finding out, I felt a bit guilty.

[Manager: What fan meeting? You must be joking.]

“Isn’t it a bit much?”

[Manager: Yeah, dealing with those weirdos must be tough.]

I was the one who initiated the fan meeting topic, but I decided not to mention that.

[Manager: How’s your body?]

“What do you mean?”

[Manager: You were poisoned.]

“That was ages ago.”

[Manager: It wasn’t that long ago.]

“I’m fine. It’s nothing.”

[Manager: It’s a big deal;]

The manager seemed incredulous.

I responded nonchalantly.

“I think it worked out well. It’s like having new content when I was getting bored.”

[Manager: I can never follow your line of thinking.]

[Manager: Aren’t you scared?]

“Is there a reason to be scared?”

[Manager: Someone who hates you enough to kill you is near you.]

“I don’t really care.”

[Manager: ㅋㅋ]

“Why are you laughing?”

[Manager: It’s just unbelievable.]

My attitude might be incomprehensible to others, but I understood that feeling.

“Do you know who did this to me?”

[Manager: No]

Not even the manager knew. Who could be so secretive?

[Manager: Just be careful, anyway.]

“Yes, yes.”

[Manager: Answer properly.]

“I’ll be careful.”

[Manager: Good.]

The manager, as usual, nagged and gave advice.

* * *

I arrived at the temple with Selena.

I felt uneasy about not properly greeting the priests previously. It was chaotic then, but basic courtesy was essential.

Selena wanted to come along when she heard I was going out. It seemed she was feeling cooped up in the mansion.

“What did you talk about with the Grand Duke?”

While waiting for Shailo in the reception room, I casually asked Selena. I had been curious but hadn’t found the right moment to ask.

“When?”

“That day we went for a walk in the garden.”

“Oh.”

Selena pondered for a moment before responding.

“We didn’t talk much. He just asked if I was doing well and if there was anything uncomfortable.”

It was a very formal exchange of pleasantries.

For Kabir, that was probably quite an effort. It was heartwarming to see him try to be nice to his future fiancée.

‘In the original story, they should have been quite close by now.’

The story was unfolding differently from the original, which was interesting, but the downside was the unpredictability of future events.

Is this okay? I thought it was good to bring a fresh twist to the story, but now thinking about the future, it felt overwhelming.

While Selena and I were talking, I caught a glimpse of someone’s hair beyond the wall of the open reception room.

“……?”

The person, quite short, disappeared before I could fully focus.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing…….”

I awkwardly scratched my cheek.

[asdf has donated 1,000 points!]

– Treat her well

“……?”

A donation notification popped up unexpectedly. I had been so focused on my conversation with Selena that I hadn’t been paying attention to the chat. I had no idea what the conversation was that led to such a comment.

“Lady!”

In the midst of this, Shailo arrived. His eyes were still firmly closed. It was a wonder how he managed to walk around like that.

Shailo brought his hands together in a greeting.

“May Venecia’s blessings be upon you, ladies.”

I roughly mimicked his gesture to respond. Selena, after glancing at me and Shailo, followed suit.

“It’s an honor to have you visit us again.”

“Not at all. I felt like I left too abruptly after receiving your help last time.”

“How are you feeling now?”

“Thanks to you, I’m completely fine.”

Selena, listening to our conversation, looked puzzled.

“Your health……?”
