Chapter 7.2. It’s Like I Have a New Best Friend!
The little girl is teary-eyed as if it was a traumatic experience for her, but she moved to thank me for saving her. I pat Yamiyo’s head and ask her what’s on her mind.
“Mii-sama? What’s that??”
“I’ve decided to call you Mii-sama from now on! You are my princess who saved my life!
I nodded and smiled.
“Do you know what the suspension bridge effect is?”
In a fictional world, we can be nostalgic based on this kind of emotion. I think I’ll be disillusioned when I spend my daily life. This world is also a world of fiction, so does that make it fictional?
“Father-sama, what is the suspension bridge effect?”
Yamiyo didn’t seem to know, so she tilted her head and asked Ouga. Ouga, hearing our exchange, laughs like a lion, and my parents giggle too.
It’s not funny, is it? It’s the suspension bridge effect. Even if you save someone from terrorists at Christmas and makeup with your ex-wife, you still end up falling apart.
“The suspension bridge effect is when, in a crisis, you mistake a pounding heartbeat for love. You know some hard words, don’t you?”
“Well! I thought Mii-sama was my best friend. We’ll only be best friends more from now on!”
Yamiyo tightens her neck in a squeezing manner. It’s an attack that doesn’t sound like a best friend. I give up.
She must have been satisfied after giving me cheek-to-cheek kisses for a while. Yamiyo smiles at me with a gentle smile like a wildflower blooming and says.
“Your hair color is also lovely, Mii-sama.”
My hair color had turned gray. Hmmm, not quite gray, but what about this color? It looks like something a foreigner would have. It might not look too different.
I have a smooth, shiny gray hair color. My choice to be a priest had given me gray hair.
I turn to my parents. They nod at me with gentle smiles.
“It looks good on you, Miu.”
“Yes, it does. It looks great on you.”
I see my reflection in the mirror a short distance away. My gray hair is shiny and silvery. My eyes are ice blue, and I don’t look Japanese.
There was a beautiful girl. Yes, I am a woman in this life. In The Night of Magic, girls are pretty even when they are a mob.
So I am a pretty girl too. My name is Takano Miu. I am 6 years old.
“Accept all the money for this room. It’s my thanks for saving my daughter. Of course, I’ll give you a proper thank you late. So you can look forward to it.”
I twitched at Ouga’s words. A thank you. Lucky me. Then I have only one wish.
“Then, please buy me a super jumbo parfait from Harukaze!”
I cheerfully raise my hand and beg.
I had always wanted to try this parfait. It was at a coffee shop I found on a walk once. I couldn’t beg for them because they were 3,000 yen each.
At these words, Ouga scowled and immediately laughed hysterically.
“That’s good. Eat a lot of food.”
“I’ll go with you!”
“Don’t get a stomach ache, okay?”
We created a heartwarming space there, and I began to doze off to remember how tired I was. A little girl’s body got tired easily. They fall asleep like their body can be turned off with a switch.
Well, I tried to start my nap, thinking I was happy to help Yamiyo more than anything else. There wouldn’t be news about a mob getting killed by a wraith.
(3rd person POV)
Miu was a mob that got in trouble in the story’s setting. Because a prominent-looking young lady like Yamiyo had never appeared in a novel. Nor in the anime.
But as a matter of fact, Yamiyo was one of the sub-heroines in the novel.
She is the eldest daughter of the Marquis Teijo, a rich family. In the novel, she appeared in volume 11. When she was a kindergartener, she got possessed by a wraith that appeared from a dungeon. She killed all the kindergartners. At that time, she was thrown out of her house and left in the care of a branch family.
After that, she was abused and suffered, in the future, her hair became like wakame seaweed, her personality darkened, becoming an eerie-looking woman with dark circles over her eyes, and she became a dark messenger who joined an enemy organization. Even her voice changed to that of a ‘kihihihi’, an eerie tone.
She is defeated and saved by the hero. She was a sub-heroine who suffered in the dark side of the world but got saved, fell in love with the hero, and became his stalker.
However, due to her horrific childhood, and her unpopular appearance as a heroine. She got cut from the anime. There were numerous heroines in the novel, and they did not feel uncomfortable about the absence of any of them.
The horrific scene where she kills kindergarteners was out in the anime.
It is unclear how the future will change because of Miu’s help. It is not surprising that Miu is unaware of it.
However, she was an unfortunate character whose existence got erased in anime. According to the author in an interview during the production of the 5th season, if she cleans herself up, she will become a beautiful girl! The author was thinking about that development, but it seems there was no time to raise such an event because the author increased the heroine one after another.
If there are other heroines like Yamiyo in the world where Miu got reincarnated is unknown at this point.
