Chapter 21.1 An Undescribed Scene
-Masatoshi’s POV-
I’m wobbling and shaking on his feet, trying to get into the limo for the ride home. My 9 year old’s body is on its feet from a powerful fist blow from my merciless father. I cannot stop shaking. His body was also trembling because he was afraid of the angry Enraku.
The Duke of Aguni is a loveless family. But I knew from the novel that this father was not ruthless.
Enraku is a bold and openhearted warrior. He prefers people who are powerful and hot-blooded. Therefore, he disliked people like Masatoshi who, without an effort, lived by gouging servants, making cronies, and playing around with them, backed by the power of the duke’s family.
In the novel, Enraku likes it when the hero comes to undergo the trial by fire with Masatoshi’s victorious brother and shows his strength. He is a dependable man who has supported the hero many times since then.
However, Enraku apologizes to the protagonist for shutting his eyes because Masatoshi was the eldest son and his power was excellent.
I knew this, but I lived by the same character as in the novel, thinking that if that was the case, I should not make a fatal mistake so that I would not get disowned from my position as a legitimate son.
After all, as I found out when I tried it, it was wonderfully pleasurable to beat and kick the servants and have them give me sneering looks as if they were always looking at my face.
It was different from Masatoshi’s previous life. His parents would look at me with disdain and tell me it was time for me to get a job, and that he was a joke. It was his parents’ fault for being stingy with money and not sending me to college. Why did they look at him with such contempt? He always had a smoldering dissatisfaction in his heart.
That is why I decided to live this life as I pleased. The pleasure of a good beating. The servants’ way of running away from me in front of the fire magic. It was wonderful.
Even if I did such a terrible thing, until I lost to the protagonist, I was still in the position of Duke Aguni’s heir. I assumed that Enraku was an old-fashioned character.
That was why I was afraid of failing this time. There was a possibility that I would get disowned from my position as a legitimate heir.
I also thought I might get beaten, so I glanced at my father who sat across from me, and folded his arms. When my father noticed his’s gaze, Enraku brought his face close to me and violently pulled my hair.
I winces in pain, but then Enraku opens his mouth and tells me.
“You’ll have to do a little better than that.”
“What?”
I open my mouth to ask, my mouth gaping open at my father’s unexpected words. Enraku throws me down roughly and sits up deeper in me chair, and Enraku smiles at me with an intimidating grin.
“What did you want to do? Did you want to see the power of the Marquis? Was it to tease me? Either way, it was a stupid thing to do. I didn’t expect the stone golem to get destroyed, and I didn’t expect Teijo’s and Takano’s daughters to stand up to it instead of running away. Usually, they run away.”
“Well, uh, I wanted to make a connection with a girl who is a, uh, woman, a recovery magician, you know, ………. I thought if I helped her, we’d get along, you know.”
I can’t say that I wanted to measure the power of the reincarnated person. And there is also some truth mixed in, and I’m not lying.
“You’re playing prince on a white horse. You’re a kid. Well, good. Now you’ve made a connection. It’s a good story for the Aguni family. Well done.”
“We, well done?”
I was so shocked that he repeated it like a parrot, but Enraku began amusedly explaining it.
“A 9 year old girl destroyed the stone golem. According to those who were watching the battle, she didn’t even send mana to her magic armor, and she put all her mana into the mace to defeat it.”
“Ye, yes. That is correct, Father.”
I also saw the stone golem get destroyed. It’s unbelievable, but she crushed the stone golem with a single mace. And she did it without activating her magic armor. Since she had activated her magic armor when she escaped, it was clear that she was using a rough trick of pouring all her mana into her mace when he attacked.
“Then. Miu has enough mana to defeat the stone golem. That’s a huge amount. Our recovery magicians can’t even compare to that.”
There are two recovery magicians in the Aguni family. Both have the power to heal deep wounds, although they cannot heal the disabled. However, they do not have much mana, after using it twice a day, their mana was empty.
“You made a connection with such a girl. Bad karma is part of karma. You could send her a gift, invite her to a party or on a trip as an apology. You want to surround her at home. That’s why I gave her an expensive and rare magic jewel as a wabi gift. Since Takano Yoshiyuki seems like a good man, he’ll remember the magical jewelry you gave him and will find it hard to refuse.”
“Hah, haha…… but that girl is surrounded by Marquis Teijo family, father.”
“Well. It would have been nice if Marquis Teijo could receive the ruby. Then, one of the Marquis Teijo received the ruby of the salamander, which is the symbol of fire, and it became a rumor that they joined our faction and became affiliated with it. I was able to let it flow, but that bastard read it. I bet he wanted to tell Takano not to accept the emerald, but he must have stopped when he saw Takano trying to accept it for his daughter’s sake. Because it gives him a bad impression.”
“There, did father give the ruby with that much thought in mind?”
I recall the situation before, but I did not understand that such speculation was mixed. I realize my father’s intentions on that occasion and is terrified by Teijou Ouga’s replies he’d receive the reward in cash.
Of course, it goes without saying about the father in front of him.
“High-ranking nobles, you know, they give meaning to mere behavior. You are only 9 year old, but you are the heir to the dukedom. Remember that. Your little brother is too obedient, which makes me uneasy.”
I shivered with surprise, feeling something cold running down my back. I had just caught a glimpse of the horror of the high nobility.
