Chapter 39.1. Fighting Magic Machines

“Magic Weapon Ogre Type 22. I don’t remember the name, but there were many of these things as small fry.”

Miu said, looking at the metal giant.

They seemed hidden in containers. They must prepare it as their trump cards. It is a template development. Thank you very much.

Its skin is a heavy-looking metallic skin, with pink muscle fibers and cables peeking out from its joints. Sharp horns like spearheads sprouted from its head and in the hands of the three-meter-tall giant, a greatsword as thick as a steel plate. There are five of them. They are approaching us, their eyes made of crystal.

Glowing red crystals cover each part of their bodies. They are magical weapons driven by the power of magic stones. There was no operating time in the game but in reality. It exists. I used -Examine- to confirm its strength.

[Magic Doll Ogre Type 22, Level 26]

It’s quite strong. Magic stones are disposable, so they are much cheaper than summoning stones, but they only wear out more quickly, and their fighting power is high. I don’t know how much it costs to move this thing.

“Do it. Ogre. [Kill those two].”

Baphomet’s in a good mood and proudly gives the order to the Ogre. The magic weapon with the friendly-weapon identification device is very convenient.

Baphomet is convinced of his victory. He sticks his index finger at us and smiles broadly, his face contorted.

But magic weapons were in the game too. Of course, there are countermeasures. We’ll do what we want to try.

“Odin!”

“This knowledge is embedded in my head. It reminds me of the time I gained magical knowledge at the Fountain of Mimir.”

Odin uses magic, turning his mouth covered with a crumpled white beard into a smile.

[All Machine Control Machine Dominator Ⅴ]

[Dominated security cameras!]

[Ogre 22 Type A, E dominated!]

[Baphomet smartphones dominate!]

[Communications equipment dominate!]

A silvery flash of light emanates from his hand. Two ogres are magic weapons, are hit by the light, and are stopped by purple electricity.

“Oh, my phone!?”

Baphomet was surprised to see his phone covered in electric shocks and took it down.

I was surprised to see the log. Oh my, is this what happens in real life?

“Hmmm, [Defeat the Ogre].”

Odin is amused at his magic’s result, strokes his white beard, and gives the order. Two mechanical ogres attack the other ogres, raising their greatswords.

A clang and a metallic sound echo as the greatsword bites into the metal skin of the Ogre.

“Hey, what are you doing!? Is it a glitch!?”

Baphomet’s eyes peeled back in surprise as he saw Odin’s controlled Ogre begin to attack the other Ogre. If I don’t order them to counter it quickly, they’ll take you down one-sidedly.

Magic Weapons. Of course, counter-magic is in the game. Counter-magic has several types like magic to dominate machines, confusion, and destruction. There’s support magic that won’t work against magic armor but is much more effective against magic weapons. Most bosses’ magic weapons are resistant, so I can’t dominate them.

The success rate of [Machine Domination] is extremely low. It is only natural since it made my enemies into my friends. Even Odin, with his Aegis Crown and high magical power, succeeded with only two.

But that’s not the point. I was interested in something else.

Namely, machines that have essential powers in this modern fantasy but are much nastier than combat weapons and the like. Surveillance cameras and security systems. Communication devices.

However, the reality-based [Machine Domination] was more effective than I had expected. I didn’t expect it to dominate the security cameras, and I didn’t expect it to dominate the communication equipment. The [Machine Domination] was designed to get fixed only when the enemy repaired it. Once I controlled all the weapons, the battle was over.

In the game, they would have left the weapons as they were and moved on, but what would happen in real life? All the equipment here is under Odin’s control. Pssshhhh.

Of course, in the novel, there was none of this magic. There were users of similar magic, but they were puppeteers who manipulated many of their magic puppets. You could say it was a game of original magic.

There were hackers in the novels, but they usually broke into computers, not by magic. Someone in the world might use the same kind of magic, though.

“Odin. Don’t leave us on the security cameras.”

“Okay. I’ll turn it off.”

We can order the machines under our control to turn them off. If I ask it to turn off, it will disappear on its own. Odin nodded as he watched the ogre battle with interest. I’m asking you to do it.

“What the hell are you doing!? [Broken no. 1 beat the no. 3!] dammit, what’s going on?”

Baphomet is confused, but I no longer intend to explain. Odin joins the ogre fight, taking Geri and Freki with him. I’ll leave that one to you.

I guess he never imagined there was such magic in the world. He was in a hurry, as if he hadn’t moved it in a long time, and thought there was a glitch. I know. Emergency systems are usually glitchy and don’t work when you need them to. I’ll have to keep this magic a secret.

“Well then, let’s have a tie-breaker.”

I grinned like a little cat at Baphomet. He looks at me, bites his lip in frustration, and holds up his rapier.

“Damn!”

Baphomet clads himself in wind magic, rushes forward, and thrusts his rapier at me. The wind magic armor must have compensated for this. The dust around my feet floats in the wind as I step out if it floats, and slides closer to me.
