Chapter 42.1. Let’s Conquer The Dungeon!
Sleipnir is an eight-legged horse. It gallops through the heavens and the earth. It significantly increased my map movement speed. The last significant increase in movement speed is applied in the game.
“Yes, Suu-chan!”
I’m not your fishing-loving grandpa. It’s Granpa Odin who rides Sleipnir. It’s a mobility item I get when I make Odin my friend.
The next day. Being the coward I am, I still thought it was dangerous to go in and out of the dungeon, so I decided to spend only the next day clearing the dungeon.
I left the children at the orphanage with the director, who seemed to be a good person. He seemed anxious, but they would probably be fine. I only hope that the chain of quests will not cause an event to save the orphanage from debt.
The director must have been in trouble because I secretly left the children at the orphanage. I’ll support you later, so please pay your respects. I was very firm with the orphans. I told him that they were living in the slums, but they were at their limits. If I mention anything about confinement, the Chimera’s backers might notice.
It’s a big group of 20 people. I promise I’ll be right back to assist later.
Hi-Yo Silver and I are moving fast with the reins. Pakarang pakarang, it’s-a Miu, a beautiful girl who enjoys horseback riding today.
I’m not riding around the city, because riding an eight-legged horse would be a real standout. Where is she? She is in a dungeon with mithril eaters.
“Hi-Yo, Suu-chan! We’ve got a big catch tonight!”
She hits the reins and rushes. As far as the eye can see, we run through a place composed of rocky mountains and sand.
“Hiheeenn!”
Sleipnir nodded in a good mood. It seems that it likes big catches.
“I guess if the bait is good, you can catch a lot of fish, right?”
“Hmm. You’ve caught a lot.”
Grandpa Odin rides and glances behind me. I looked behind me as well and saw a big catch. What’s a big catch?
Of course, we caught a lot of monsters. Tonight’s dinner will be a full-course fish dinner. Behind us, a tremendous number of monsters were chasing us with a cloud of dust.
We’re using the speed of Sleipnir to mass train. There are ants the size of a person, a centipede monster covered in armor, and a gigantic flea with a spear-like proboscis. Several other monsters were chasing after us.
Ants crawled out of the crevices between spear-like rock piles, and fleas emerged from the sand. Hundreds of legs peeked their heads out of gnarled holes in the rock face. It is a scene like the Night of the Hundred Demons.
If we were even a little slow, they would catch up with us and would be our end.
“It’s thrilling, isn’t it? Ushishshi.”
“There’s a new monster up ahead!”
“I’ll show you how to avoid monsters!”
Three two-meter-tall ants appeared in front of me, but I pulled back on the reins and meandered along. The ants raise their paws to threaten me, but that’s their weakness.
The Sleipnirs puckeringly and easily pass by. Sorry.
“Osh, we’re going in on the third floor!”
“Kuku, I like your daredevil ways, girl.”
It’s funny, Grandpa laughs, but I value efficiency.
“Hmm, sometimes gamers risk their lives. Let’s save [Teleport], okay?”
Miu smiles as she puffs out her chest, which is still growing, but she is scared, so she takes out insurance.
If I move forward while meandering, I can easily avoid it. The giant horse understands what I’m trying to do and gallops along, hoof beats high in the air as if it were one man and one horse.
The dungeon in The Night of Magic is an environmental dungeon, despite its name. An environmental dungeon. Not a dungeon with long, narrow passages, but a dungeon with deserts, rainforests, volcanoes, and snow-covered mountains.
There are several large spatial areas, connected by small corridors. In other words, if you move fast enough, you can avoid the demons.
That was not the case in the game. The dungeon in the game has the same environment, but on a different scale and in a smaller hall. The developer did that to not make the player stressed by making them run through a very large space in vain.
But in reality, it is a vast hall. A single room could be several kilometers long. In games with an encounter system, even if the hall is small, there is no problem because the battle takes place in a vast space during the battle.
In reality, however, that is not right. You don’t move to a different space when you encounter monsters, and even in the original story, there was a description of a dungeon with a vast plain continuing. So the dungeon is large enough for Sleipnir to run around in.
If we just ran away, the enemy would lose sight of us, but we would not do that. We ran slowly so that the enemy would not lose sight of us.
“A new monster has appeared.”
“It’s a mithril eater!”
From the shadow of the anthill ahead, a 5-meter-tall anteater-like monster appears. It’s a monster with silver fur. I know, I know. I also hunted a lot in the game.
The anteater has a long, slender tongue, but the mithril eater’s long, slender mouth splits vertically to reveal a pink interior. The fangs, which grow like slithery gold, are disgusting.
[Examine]
Mithril Eater Level 25
It’s the same level as in the game. Then, I guessed its ability would be the same, too.
“It’s resistant to everything but the all-powerful. It’s hard and has high attack power, so it’s hard to defeat. Its weak point is status ailments. If you use that to it, it’s a weak enemy. If you defeat it, you can get a mithril pelt. If you break it down, it becomes mithril ore.”
“Is mithril expensive in this world?”
“It’s a rare magic metal used for magic armor and such. If you kill one of them, you can get 10 million yen.”
So, in the game, at the same level range, it was the perfect monster for money-making. But it was only 10 million yen. I don’t know what kind of scumbag would sacrifice children for such a small amount of money.
