Chapter 202.2. The War Is Coming To An End
In other words, a money-devouring insect weapon that is ineffective against the strong but annihilates the weak. That’s what a large magic armor is.
There’s no way Count Outomo could have assembled bankrupting large magic armors. The mastermind must have supported him. And judging by the amount of money invested, Count Outomo undoubtedly never even considered the possibility of being disposed of by the mastermind.
Mii-chan may have said long ago that the amount of money spent is a barometer of trust, and it is true.
It’s unimaginable that an opponent who would spend 5 billion yen on expendables had the intention to discard oneself. Thanks to Count Outomo, most of the combat helicopters have been defeated, and they have begun to exterminate the remaining monsters. Only the Hill Giants are left.
“Maybe I should check the main story first.”
I open the status board and check the quest details.
If someone were to say it’s unnecessary, I’d reply that I can clear it based on my feeling, so I usually don’t read it.
That’s Mii-chan style.
-Main Story: Prologue A New Curtain Of Night Descends-
-One day, Gengami Sena, with her best friend, Teijou Yamiya, from the warrior clan, and Aburage Tamamo, from the magic tool clan, go to play in the dungeon. However, they suddenly get attacked by countless unknown enemies. Little did she know, a new night has begun-
“Oh, I see. It’s the prologue. The Night of Magic has arrived. Oh, hmm, wait?? Really??”
So, where is my name? Hey, hey, where is the name of the beautiful Mii-chan, Takano Miu?
I tap the status board with a pat-pat, but the display doesn’t change.
It’s probably a bug.
It’s a bug that eats the dreams of mob characters.
What was the method to contact the management again?
I continue to hit it, but the display doesn’t change. Mii-chan’s name is nowhere to be found.
“You’ve got to be kidding me! Why is Mii-chan’s name missing? Am I invisible here too?”
I stomp my feet in frustration, but still, the display doesn’t change.
It seems that even in this world, mobs are invisible.
Dismayed, Mii-chan droops her shoulders. Isn’t it a bit too harsh?
Disappointed, half-squinting, I watch the scenes of the battle.
Only a few remaining monsters and Hill Giants, right?
I there’s no need for Mii-chan to have a role, right?
No, I’m not sulking or anything. Maybe I’ll sit here and play in the sand by myself.
“Fuhahaha! You there, you oversized brute! It’s over for you!”
Having shot down most of the combat helicopters and exhausted magic armor worth an estimated 10 billion yen, Count Outomo sets his sights on the remaining Hill Giants within the forest and eagerly flies toward them.
“Disappear with the secret technique handed down in my Outomo family!”
With a clunking sound, the lower part of the armor opens, and from within emerges a long barrel.
Its design resembles the ripples of the sea, intricately crafted to resemble waves, and it radiates a significant amount of mana, a visible aura.
“This is the ultimate and strongest secret technique of non-elemental attack!”
Count Outomo shouts with a heroic proclamation, like a protagonist. Mii-chan, feeling like an invisible character, loses her motivation and absentmindedly watches the scene, thinking he might be a strong support character often seen in prologues or tutorials.
From the forest, a Hill Giant appears. It stands about 10 meters tall, with a protruding Neanderthal-like chin and a face resembling a mix of ape and human. It’s a monster that is physically strong but dim-witted.
Mii-chan knows this and thinks of it as a small fry, but she suddenly feels a sense of unease.
Something feels off.
A tingling sensation in the back of her mind sends a warning. It tells her that the flow of the game’s knowledge is strange. Although she assumed they would leave, would they introduce a mini-boss after Aegir’s appearance?
Could it be…?
“Uh-oh! Old man Outomo, run!”
She hurriedly shouts, but it’s too late. Count Outomo has already activated his magic.
“This is the end!”
[Violent Dragon-Soaring Destruction]
The barrel shines, emitting a mana aura, and energy takes the form of a spear. The armor becomes covered in a translucent aura and transforms into a dragon.
Count Outomo charges forward with a confident expression, believing in his victory.
Hill Giant, moving sluggishly, stands still without attempting to dodge and takes the attack from the transformed dragon.
Violent wind gusts generated by swirling mana, made the giant’s skin peel off, and its body crumble.
However, Hill Giant seems unfazed by the pain, as it stretches out both hands and grabs hold of the dragon, paying no mind to its own collapsing body.
“W-What?”
Count Outomo gets taken aback, but another shock is about to hit him.
Frost begins to form on the armor, gradually turning it white, while I hear an ice-cracking sound.
“This… can’t be happening… Let go, you giant brute!”
Seeing himself freezing, Count Outomo panics, swinging his arms and struggling, but the giant’s arm remains unmoved.
“Nooo!”
[Icing Crush]
A girl’s voice emanates from the giant, and Count Outomo’s armor is completely frozen, crushed as if it were about to explode. Sparkling and beautiful yet cruel ice fragments fall to the ground, and the giant takes a step forward.
The ground beneath its feet freezes completely white, and the air around the giant turns into extreme cold, transforming into a white world.
“Heheh. How about that? That’s the magic weapon [Frost Giant]. It’s still a prototype, but strong, right?”
Mockingly, the giant declares, transforming unnoticed into a metal giant with armor made of ice.
