Vampire Overlord System In The Apocalypse
Chapter 3 Table of contents

The System.

A wonderful power is given to all those who had awakened an Ability.

At first, humanity despaired.

On that fateful day, waves of miasma covered Earth, mutating most living beings, not even Humans were sparred.

90% of humanity was wiped out that day, either turned into monstrous beings or dying due to radiation.

The entire world was shrouded in chaos, as the entire world began to change, rifts in space opened, and even more, monstrous creatures emerged from distant planes and worlds.

However, an entity within the endless cosmos hear the call from humanity and descended.

A humanoid figure made entirely out of light appeared and granted his divine protection to humanity in the form of the System and Abilities.

He named himself, The System Master.

Since that day, humanity had a chance, and they carved their path through the complete insanity that shrouded Earth.

Noah, who was left, for some strange reason, powerless, could only see as his parents died while he hides in his basement, only to be rescued a month later, barely hanging on his own life while starving.

He still remembers every day of that month of chaotic despair, he even had to eat cockroaches to survive, to appease his hunger…

Now, twenty years after the Apocalypse, the world is barely hanging on, every nation was destroyed, and whatever remained of humanity built a few nations of their own, simply named 'Sectors'.

However, instead of these survivors helping Noah, he was thrown into the lowest of the food chain, bullied even by those considered to be F-Rank…

But now, things had changed!

Yes!

Noah glanced at the holographic window appearing out of thin air right in front of his sight!

This was it!

This was… the System!

[Noah]

[Bloodline: Vampire (Awakening)]

[Vitality: 30]

[Mind: 30]

[Force: 20]

[Skill(s): [Blood Progenitor: - (SSS)], [Undying Body: 1 (A)], [Blood Claws: 1 (C)]

Noah smiled so widely that he seemed completely insane.

This was the power that he had always fantasized to have, that everyone had except him!

"These stats… Usually, a recently awakened F-Rank individual has around 10 in each stat… but I have 20 in Vitality and Force, and 30 in Mind! Is this the power of the Blood Progenitor's Blood Core? Although, I was expecting even larger stats, seeing how you were an SSS-Rank Boss and all…" said Noah teasingly, as the Blood Progenitor answered Noah's question immediately.

"You insolent human! Don't you realize that your power was way too low, to begin with? Your body, as a vessel, was of the lowest quality! My complete power is sealed within your soul, similarly to… the Ancient One dwelling within it. As you progress and absorb more of those Cores that the monsters within Dungeons and Labyrinths drop, you will realize that you will improve faster than most humans!" said the Blood Progenitor.

Cores, aside from Abilities and the System, Cores are an essential part of humanity's survival.

Cores come in three types, Vitality Cores, Mind Cores, and Force Cores… However, there are also special types of Cores that give even abilities, some of them are named Dark Cores, Fire Cores, or by the Blood Progenitor's case, Blood Cores.

Humanity was not given the ability to level up or something through the System, but they were able to gain more stats if they absorbed these Cores, this is why they began to finally fight back against the horde of monsters and the powerful Bosses that commanded them.

"So you're nerfing yourself, so I don't die out?" asked Noah.

"More or less!" said the Blood Progenitor.

"Fair enough… Now, I still feel like I hit the lottery because I got three Skills…!" said Noah, as he inspected the three Skills abilities.

[Blood Progenitor] was a Skill that represented Noah as a Vampire, it brought several abilities packed into one, such as an enhancement on his five senses, increased regeneration of wounds, to regain energy by drinking fresh blood, and even the power to manipulate his own blood or convert others into Vampires as well! However, this Skill didnt gave him the ability to regenerate large wounds other than small scars, for that he had the Undying Body Skill, that let him regenerate wounds endlessly unlike this Skill as long as he drank blood and had enough Mana.

The Skill seemed to also point out that it could let Noah awaken new types of Abilities as he progressed and grew stronger, so the young man seemed excited about the possibilities.

[Undying Body] was a Skill that enhanced Noah's physique to even further lengths, giving him an even greater regeneration as long as he drank fresh blood, alongside a body that will not die even with fatal wounds, such as having his heart or stomach pierced, amongst other things. However, it did not seem to say anything if he were to have his head crushed… so Noah did not want to be overly reliant on this.

And lastly, [Blood Claws] was a simple attack-type Ability, which covered Noah's hands with crimson claws, which let him release slashing attacks with them, each attack drained a bit of his Mind stat, which was something akin to Mana Points in videogames.

Due to this, he was not able to simply spam it all the time, however, as long as he could drink blood, his mind would regenerate quickly, and he would be able to use this ability even more.

"These abilities… Perhaps I can finally have a chance! And their Ranks… SSS, A and C! Such Abilities would cost a fortune and I got them all for free…" said Noah.

Amongst the Cores that monsters dropped, there were also Ability Cores, which were often named as Dark Core, Fire Core, Wind Core, and more, such Ability Cores would bring a random Ability within that category, and each Core always had a Rank, from F to SSS!

The Ability that Noah acquired, an SSS-Rank one, would cost a ridiculous amount of money, so much that its value could not be easily guessed, even S-Rank Hunters could just hope to have one!

"Yeah, brat, you hit the lottery more than once, I was actually going to take over your damn body, you know? Who could have told that you had such an eldritch entity within?" asked the Blood Progenitor.

"To tell you the truth, I don't have any idea why it is even there… But good for me, as it managed to suppress your cliché villain plan," said Noah.

"Tch…! Anyways, now, let's go drink some blood! I am thirsty!" roared the Blood Progenitor.

"Oh, I guess I am the same… do you share my senses?" wondered Noah.

"Sort of… It is rather disgusting, but that's how it is…!" said the Blood Progenitor.

"So this sore sensation within my throat will never cease if I don't drink blood?" asked Noah.

"It won't, and it will get worse! You will begin to feel as if your entire body decay! After all, you are something akin to an Undead, your body will begin to rot away if you don't drink fresh human blood in 24 hours!" said the Blood Progenitor.

"That's oddly specific, you know? …Although it worries me a bit, for some strange reason… I don't feel bad at all about what I am about to do… Is this your encroachment within my mind?" asked Noah.

"It could be said that it is your own Bloodline that is slowly warping your sense of self, a Vampire is not a human, after all!" said the Blood Progenitor.

"Huh… I guess to finally attain this strength, I really had to lose my humanity… Well, I had nothing else to lose anymore… Alright then, let's go," said Noah, wearing a hoodie to hide his change of appearance and running out of his room within the military school…

This day, Noah had stopped being the same as before.

Reborn, he is now more than a human.
