Using her magic, Evie blocked the attacks of her enemies.
For a few seconds, she was able to evade all damages, but in the end, some of their attacks got to her. From that point onward, her HP bar dropped rapidly as she struggled against the onslaught of her enemies' attacks.
Evie had been in a situation like this before, but she still couldn't help getting nervous. She knew that if she didn't do something about this now, it would be too late for regret later.
She couldn't be a burden to Ren — as his girlfriend, she must be his support, not his weakness.
Evie had no choice but to use another [Dynamite] on Sleeping Dragon since all her spells were in cooldown. For now, she had to get rid of Hixel, so she could later focus on the real target, Angelica.
However, Hixel dodged her attack with ease. He even laughed as he did so.
"You're not worth my time. I'll destroy you now and tear you apart!"
Evie tried to dodge the attack, but she had no way to avoid it completely — not when she was surrounded.
Evie used [Butterfly of Deceit] as soon as its cooldown was over, just in time before her enemies could surround her. She got away from the group of players that were cornering her.
To her surprise, when she appeared on the other side, she found that Hixel was already there. She gritted her teeth and briefly glanced at Angelica, who had a smile on her face.
Angelica was holding a white glowing Orb, and Evie knew that she had just used [Seer's Orb] to find out where she'd landed.
Luckily, Angelica's spell was low-leveled, and her spell could only predict 5 seconds into the future. At the moment, that spell was on a long cooldown.
Evie fired a simple spell at the spur of the moment, just to stop Hixel's momentum.
The man dodged it easily and evaded the attack as if he had already known she'd do it.
He then turned around and stared at Evie. "I'm sorry, but I won't let you get away," he said.
Scything through the air, Hixel's weapon intersected against Evie's path, cutting her deeply in the stomach.
Evie braced herself for the impact, knowing that she'd be blown away by the force of Hixel's blade. She tumbled on the ground until her momentum stopped, laying on the stone floor and covered with bruises.
A painful single-digit HP flashed on her screen.
Now that Evie was down, the others were about to deal her the final blow. Before they could do anything, however, Hixel collapsed to the ground with multiple status effects on top of his HP bar.
Hixel murdered Evie with his gaze as he gnashed his teeth. "Y-you!"
A white blob could be seen atop Evie's head, which quickly disappeared while muttering bubbling words.
Evie grinned, waving the remaining [Dynamites] in her hands. "You didn't predict this, did you?"
She threw those [Dynamites] on the opposing players.
The explosion caused by the [Dynamites] made several stones and statues blow apart, causing the ground to shake.
Seeing that half of her team was eliminated and one of her commanders was gone, Angelica only smiled and applauded.
"Your bold move only confirmed my theories that you really have a skill that lets you peek into a player's stat," she said, eyes on Ren.
"Looks like you even know the cooldown of my skills, seeing that you waited for my [Seer's Orb] to enter cooldown before you made your move.
It was obvious. Normal players would act cautious after seeing a glimpse of her spells, afraid of the cooldowns and whether she had other spells reserved.
However, Ren and Evie didn't have that kind of reaction. Instead, their movements were very calculated around her.
Evie even risked her life just to take down Hixel and half their players in one blow as soon as she finished casting [Seer's Orb] and [Universe Blessing] like she was pressed for time.
This made Angelica believe that the other party had somehow got hold of her list of spells and their cooldown.
". . ." Ren didn't comment. He didn't have time to waste on her, for his attention was on Evie. They didn't have HP potions left, and the only way to increase her HP was if he copied Angelica's spell [Universe Blessing].
However, before he could, he saw from the corner of his eyes that Aragon was aiming at Evie. One hit, and he knew that Evie would die.
In a blink, Ren used [Butterfly of Deceit] at Evie and transported her beside him.
Angelica's grin widened. "Got you."
Forces rippled in the air and shot toward Ren and Evie's direction. In a fraction of a second, a silver shockwave of tangible energy force rippled in Ren and Evie's area.
Rumbling shockwaves ripped through their ears and entered their mind, unleashing bedlam as raw destructive energy continuously drummed in bright-white waves.
[Dissonance]
"AaRrgGH!" Evie covered her ears. Her world suddenly became a kaleidoscope of agony.
She felt like her mind was splitting apart, and she couldn't move by the pain, preventing her from doing anything. Her HP was also reduced to zero in an instant.
"Evie . . ." The surge of disorientation was almost beyond what Ren could endure, and he bit his lips until it bled to refocus his mind.
Despite the feeling of her head exploding, Evie managed to throw a smile in Ren's way before she burst into particles.
[Evie from your group, World Conqueror, has died!]
Ren had expected that they wouldn't come out unscathed from this, but watching that notification felt more painful than breaking a bone.
Angelica giggled. "Even though my [Seer's Orb] is still on cooldown. I know that you would teleport her next to you."
Angelica's fingers graced her lips as she displayed a sweet smile. "I really thought that you're the type of person who wouldn't let your emotions get the best of you, but I guess you're only human."
Evie . . . Ren gasped when bullets rained upon him, coming from Aragon's skills.
Cang Lu and the others didn't stand still and attacked him as well.
Ren's body was so heavy for him to avoid them as he was still under Angelica's spell. It wasn't [Slow] — it was simply the effect of her spell that made him feel like he was being constantly hammered by a thousand-pound force.
His [Teleport] was also in cooldown, and the only way for him to escape was through [Butterfly of Deceit].
But . . .
