“We’ll deal with that later. It’s crucial now that we get together and form a plan before Heavenly Sovereign shows up. We hardly know what each of us is capable of us and that could work against us in the final battle.” Zhuo Fan was growing nervous by the second, knowing the enemy would come any second now.
“Lei Yuting completed the darkness path, Ye Lin the infernal path, Murong Xue the righteous path, Long Jiu the lightning path. While we don’t know what Yan Song has done, I’m sure he will be joining our fight once he stabilizes. Make best use of everyone’s advantage and finish that bastard once and for all!” Kunpeng sent.
“I’ll try stalling Heavenly Sovereign since he likes to hear the sound of his voice so much. Maybe it’ll buy us enough time for Yan Song to join us. When that fails, I’ll be sending you orders through transmission. Be ready to act at any moment, while also fight the best way you know.” Zhuo Fan instructed.
He only managed to give a few more warnings and emphasized the gravity of the situation before Heavenly Sovereign showed up, unleashing his now new dark aura of destruction. The very air around him hissed, like it was removed from existence. Even as he landed, the grass wilted and disintegrated, with the earth cracking up and turning barren, while the sky peeled away slowly from his energy, revealing utter nothing.
The prismatic event was still ongoing, bearing a sharp contrast of color and vitality against the cold and dark atmosphere that was now plaguing the earth. The forces at work were beyond anything the remainder of the Sacred Domain had ever seen, the air twisting with both foul and resplendent energies, with neither capable to overcome the other. However, what came out was the unleashing of violent shockwaves in every direction.
It was ironic how the only saving grace for the people was the prismatic event grounding all beneath the Sovereign Stage, unable to muster strength to fly, let alone stand up. And since this time the event was particularly stronger than any before, they felt they were back to being mere mortals before having even set foot on the path of cultivation. They were helpless to watch the raw display of power in the sky, while also grateful for once they were too weak to join, able to escape with their meager lives intact. Though, hardly anyone was optimistic of the future, knowing that even if they got out alive today, the blackness in the horizon, stretching from one end to the other would swell and take them all tomorrow.
Neither fate was desirable, made worse by the fact that no one could choose their ending or, at the very least, die in a blaze of glory. But with their puny strength, they would be more like a spark from a particularly thin match, not enough to change the tides but with the power to show they at least existed among the many others like them.
At this grim realization, the people turned heavy eyes filled with uncertainty and fear at the battle that would change their fate and that of the world they lived in. Would they see tomorrow, or would they die here and now?
“Heavenly Sovereign, to what do I owe the pleasure of this untimely visit at my clan?” Zhuo Fan smiled, keeping it cool and sarcastic.
Heavenly Sovereign’s piercing eyes send shivers down every Luo Sovereign, the darkness within them brought memories of the most gruesome ends from the pits of their minds, unable to quell the dread that accompanied them. They knew the game was afoot, that now was time to fight for their lives and the Sacred Domain. However, seeing Heavenly Sovereign and his power, they couldn’t imagine what the hell could they even begin to do that would turn the tables in their favor.
They just hoped Zhuo Fan knew what he was doing, despite not sensing from him much strength, only his 5th layer Foundation Establishment cultivation. At least his surface cultivation regression proved he hadn’t slacked off.
“Is this your big game plan, little brother? Here I was thinking it was something radical and devastating enough to bring me to my knees with little effort. I could never get over how easy you handed me those paths and even the Demon Tranformation Art. In the past few months, I’ve been thinking over everything you could do that would end me. From making some sacrificial array that burned the sacred beasts’ lives and souls to power up a complete thundeflame to wipe me out, to recompleting the paths I’ve taken and fusing them then steal the remaining ones in the sea of blackness to get the upper hand.” Heavenly Sovereign’s voice was jarring to everyone’s ears, hard and heavy.
Yu Lei gapped at his master, who was there with the rest of the sacred beasts. “You can do that? Sacrifice yourself to end him?”
“Yes, that was one possibility, but there’re too many unknowns around it. You’d be taking down Heavenly Sovereign and maybe the Sacred Domain at best, while only Sacred Domain and leaving him alive at worst. Heavenly Sovereign has grown too powerful to be sure if this works, and even if it did, there would be no point if the world would pay the price. It was no different than letting him cleanse it.” Zhuo Fan explained.
“What’s that about recompleting paths? You can actually do that?” Murong Xue asked with disbelief. She thought a path completed by one person, then lost, would mean never being able to have it again. It contained that person’s insight, knowledge, even bias, for that path and that couldn’t be rediscovered since someone had already discovered them.
“There is indeed a chance you could recomplete your path, but on the premise the previous one is destroyed. Since Heavenly Sovereign fused the ones I completed, it was no different. It’s all about recalling the very moment you completed it in the first place, the same state of mind. It’s harder, but doable.” Zhuo Fan offered.
“Yes, little brother, why didn’t you then? You could’ve beaten me having the ten paths before me.” Heavenly Sovereign was quite curious about his answer.
