Volume 1 Chapter 6: Despicable Gentleman

Inside the school infirmary’s single resting room, Ning Chu sat on the pristine bedding, holding a cup of grape glucose water in his hands, sipping it slowly.

In his past and present, it was the first time he fainted, and also the first time he drank glucose water.

Slightly sweet, not bad in taste.

He lifted his gaze, scanning Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing standing on the side, and his lips twitched.

The male lead and male antagonist in the book are both serving me now…

Unfortunately, he’s not a girl and doesn’t like men. This world isn’t a derivative of any otome works but rather a male-oriented story.

If it weren’t for the fact that there is still a chance to turn things around now, and he’s not familiar with this world, he would have dropped out and run away.

“Ning Chu, how about you faint again later?” Zhang Shaoqing smirked, “We can bring you here again and take a break.”

Ning Chu turned his head, too lazy to bother with him. He shifted his buttocks, leaning his back against the bedhead, half-closing his eyes as he looked towards the window on the side.

Subconsciously, he pressed his hand against his abdomen, as if it could suppress the abdominal pain.

This kind of pain is different from his usual gastrointestinal pain; it’s a cramping sensation that gradually spreads from a point to an area. The pain isn’t intense, but it’s continuous, exceptionally tormenting.

Ning Chu remembered something and noted down a line in his phone’s memo:

September 16, abdominal pain.

Even though he thought it was impossible, if this pain continued for a few days and the same symptoms recurred next month, then he should go to the hospital for an examination.

Although it’s far-fetched, but what if it’s really a period.

“I can’t possibly have my period, right?” Ning Chu muttered to himself in a low voice, rubbing his temples in distress.

Wen Yang, who was playing a mobile game on the side, turned to look at him, “What did you just say?”

“Nothing, just that my stomach hurts a lot.”

“Isn’t this the infirmary? Ask the doctor for some medicine.” Zhang Shaoqing’s gaze stayed on the phone screen, not bothering to lift his head. He walked a few steps towards the door of the rest room, then bumped into a pillar.

“Damn! This broken pillar!”

Seeing Zhang Shaoqing venting his anger on the pillar by kicking it twice, it’s hard to imagine how this fool would become the vile antagonist described in the book.

Ning Chu once again sighed with emotion in his heart.

Then looking at Wen Yang, an honest and seemingly innocent guy who, they say, had never held hands with a girl since he turned eighteen, and whose first date with a girl was ruined by Zhang Shaoqing.

How did this guy evolve into a harem protagonist scum?

“Ha, this is medicine for treating gastrointestinal issues.” In no time, Zhang Shaoqing brought a small bottle of medicine, “Take one pill at a time.”

“Haven’t you seen a doctor yet…”

“The doctor is busy. There are seven or eight girls outside. Fortunately, you fainted early; otherwise, you would also have to sit on a stool outside.” He tossed the medicine bottle onto the bed and continued, “For such a minor illness, do you still need to see a doctor? I can buy it for you from the drugstore myself.”

Ning Chu took the medicine bottle, indifferent. He took a pill while sipping grape glucose water and continued to sit there, staring blankly into space.

Wen Yang finished his mobile game and looked at his roommate lying halfway on the bed, asking, “How are you feeling? Your complexion still looks pretty bad.”

“I still feel uncomfortable…”

“Then take the morning off?” Wen Yang said with concern, “Say that Shaoqing made you eat something wrong last night, got gastroenteritis, and the counselor should be able to approve it.”

Zhang Shaoqing, however, continued to babble on the side, “How could there be a problem? We ate the same thing and nothing happened to us.”

While they were chatting, a middle-aged man entered the rest room.

Ning Chu subconsciously looked up, observing the well-dressed counselor, and was momentarily stunned.

“How are you?” The counselor walked to the bedside, scanning Ning Chu’s face up and down. Seeing Ning Chu instinctively shrink his neck, avoiding eye contact, he said, “If you’re fine, continue with the military training. Also, you two, have you been slacking off here for half an hour?”

Zhang Shaoqing unreasonably argued, “I’m taking care of my sick roommate. How can that be considered slacking off?”

“He looks fine now.”

“But his stomach still hurts! We went out for Sichuan cuisine last night, and he got gastroenteritis from it.”

While they were trying to continue their clever debate, Wen Yang’s gaze shifted to Ning Chu. He clearly noticed Ning Chu’s somewhat unnatural expression.

Approaching him, Wen Yang asked in a low voice, “Where does it still hurt?”

“Nothing…”

Ning Chu regretted and blamed himself, rubbing his temples.

Mainly because he felt a bit uncomfortable seeing this gentlemanly counselor. In the book, this counselor used his position to coerce and entice female students. He didn’t know if such things happened in reality now.

After all, it’s a little emperor’s world. Many plotlines in the book violated morality, laws, and ethics. When written in the book, it was purely fantasy, but if it happened in reality, it would only result in physical discomfort.

Why did I write little emperor stories back then!

“Alright, you two go back to military training, and I’ll stay here.” The counselor was too lazy to continue arguing with Zhang Shaoqing. Waving his hand, he signaled the two to leave. “What are you talking about taking care of a classmate? I heard you playing games outside just now.”

“Playing games to accompany a sick person is also taking care. Why doesn’t that count?” Zhang Shaoqing continued to argue, but reluctantly walked outside. Muttering to himself, “The sun is so strong. I don’t want to attend military training…”

Wen Yang helplessly got up to follow, while Ning Chu, after a second thought, quickly climbed down from the bed.

“Wait for me!”

“Are you okay now?”

“It’s fine. Give the rest room to other girls. I’ll go to military training!”

The counselor looked at Ning Chu’s still somewhat pale face and frowned slightly, “Okay, go ahead.”

Approaching noon, the sunlight became more intense and glaring.

As soon as he stepped out of the infirmary, Ning Chu’s eyes were stimulated and couldn’t open them. He hurriedly caught up with his two roommates. However, he heard Wen Yang’s surprised inquiry.

“Why do I feel like you have a bad impression of the counselor? It’s as if you’re avoiding him, just like your attitude towards Shaoqing before.”

“You’re talking nonsense! I’ve always had a good relationship with Ning Chu!”

Ning Chu silently gave Zhang Shaoqing a side-eye.

At the beginning, he certainly had to be vigilant about the main antagonist described in the book; this guy was much more perverted than the counselor. But after spending some time together, didn’t he know that Zhang Shaoqing was a simpleton?

As long as the plot about them two didn’t happen, the simpleton would always be a simpleton, and a virgin would always be a virgin.

“Hey, how about we order takeout together for lunch? Let’s meet the minimum order for a discount.” Zhang Shaoqing approached with his phone.

Wen Yang shook his head and refused, “I’ll go to the canteen. I made plans with my girlfriend.”

“Ning Chu? Wow! Why are you so spirited?”

Wen Yang turned around, only to see Ning Chu full of fighting spirit, looking at him confidently.

“I want to have lunch at the canteen too! Let’s sit at the same table!”

“Ah?”

That stinky girl is trying to take advantage again!

Perhaps in this matter, it’s time to cooperate with Zhang Shaoqing!

Ning Chu hooked his arm around Zhang Shaoqing’s neck, smiling slyly, “You come too!”

“I don’t want to squeeze in the canteen, and beside, what does it have to do with us if he talks about his girlfriend? I’m not going!”
