Kugane Maruyama

Years active: 2012-Present

Kugane Maruyama (丸山くがね) is a Japanese light novelist and the creator of Overlord. Overlord was later adapted into a manga and anime.

Originally wrote under the pseudonym Muchimuchi Puririn when he first posted Overlord on the Internet. He changed his pseudonym to Kugane Maruyama when Overlord got published.

Maruyama has written for various franchises, with his short story Dawn adapted in Kagetsu Tohya's Type-Moon. In addition to that, he was involved with working with Nasu Kinoko, the writer of Fate/stay night, who praised his work though Maruyama felt there was a difference in talent.

Maruyama eventually took up writing again, and created Overlord. Being a big fan of the Dungeon and Dragons, he developed Overlord when all of his DnD buddies were too busy to play with him.
