Chapter 139: Calling Him Husband

No matter the situation, when a troublesome “thought” is brought up, even if it’s unintentional, it can take root and grow wildly in a person’s mind like a seed. Even Rosvitha couldn’t escape this curse.

She lay on the soft bed, her silver eyes staring straight at the ceiling. The room was extremely quiet, with only the mechanical sound of the clock and the man’s breathing on the sofa audible.

Although she wasn’t quite used to peacefully sharing a room with that guy, Rosvitha shouldn’t have been devoid of sleep on such a quiet night. The reason was Leon’s comment earlier about ‘watch out for spiders when you open your eyes.’

In truth, Rosvitha’s fear of spiders was something only her family knew about. In order to prevent her subordinates and clan members from knowing that as the queen, she had such a small weakness, Rosvitha had Anna and the others conduct a comprehensive pest extermination inside and outside the Silver Dragon Temple every three months.

On the surface, it was to maintain the temple’s environmental health; in reality, it was “kill all the spiders for me!”

Recalling the last extermination, it was the day after returning from her sister Isabella’s place, where she encountered two spiders on Isabella’s bed, leading to her spending the entire night sleeping hand in hand with Leon.

So, after returning, Rosvitha immediately launched a spider eradication campaign. Since that time, it had been quite a while. It seemed it was also time to arrange for this year’s final pest extermination.

But what to do tonight? Rosvitha felt like there were spiders crawling on her as soon as she closed her eyes.

Just like after watching a horror movie, where one feels like there are ghosts everywhere in the room once the lights are turned off. Various PTSD-like thoughts kept flooding into her mind.

“It’s been a long time since the last extermination. Could a new generation of spiders have grown up?”

“When that dog sneaked into my room last night through the balcony, could a spider have followed him in?”

“Maybe there’s a spider under this bed, lurking, ready to climb onto the bed at any moment—”

“!!!”

“I can’t think about this anymore!”

“Quick, sleep, sleep, sleep!”

Rosvitha tightly shut her eyes, her body tensing up, but her mind still couldn’t stop wandering.

In the autumn and winter seasons, the air was naturally dry, and it was easy for static electricity to build up between the bedding and the skin. That sensation felt like little bugs crawling on her.

Normally, Rosvitha wouldn’t pay attention to these small details. But after Leon’s scare earlier, she couldn’t shake the feeling that some small spider had crawled into her blanket.

Although she knew the probability of spiders in the room was very low, her inherent fear of arachnids lingered.

Damn Dragon Slayer, one day I’ll fill your bed with carrots and eggplants, the Silver Dragon Queen thought indignantly.

But… she still had to find a way to get through tonight.

She turned her head and looked at Leon on the sofa.

The blanket covered his abdomen, and one hand naturally hung down from the sofa, while the other lightly rested on his forehead. This posture didn’t seem like he was asleep.

Rosvitha pursed her lips and tentatively asked, “Leon… Are you asleep?”

“Why?” the man on the sofa responded quickly.

“Just asking, that’s all.”

“Oh.”

Rustle…

Leon rolled over, turning his back to Rosvitha and facing the back of the sofa.

Hey, don’t turn away! I feel safer looking at your face!

“Leon…”

“What now?”

“Could you… turn around?”

“You want me to?”

Rosvitha squinted her eyes, her hand under the blanket clenched into a fist, but she still relented, “Please, just turn around.”

Leon was surprised. He hadn’t expected the Mother Dragon to actually ask him for something.

What’s going on? Did I dream of turning into a human again?

But I didn’t conduct any prenatal education program tonight.

Or did I?…

Oh!

Leon realized it might be because he casually mentioned spiders before going to bed, causing Rosvitha to toss and turn unable to sleep.

Leon felt a little pleased inside, then he turned over.

“Like this?” he asked.

Rosvitha bit her lip and nodded, “Mm.”

Leon chuckled.

If he had known that the mighty Silver Dragon Queen had such a weakness, he would have arranged for his brothers to bring over a sack of spiders when he attacked the Silver Dragon Temple. But on second thought, it seemed unlikely.

After all, daily life was one thing, and war was another. Just because she was afraid of spiders in everyday life didn’t mean she would be afraid during a battle.

With a single Dragon Flame attack, not only spiders, even SSS-class spider-type dangerous species would be burned to ashes.

Leon closed his eyes, stopping his wandering thoughts. Sleepiness washed over him, and he decided to put the plan for the second child on hold for tonight and consider it tomorrow.

But just as he was about to drift off, a soft voice came from the bed opposite him.

“Leon…”

Leon impatiently clicked his tongue and furrowed his brow, but he kept his eyes closed. “What now?”

“Could you… come sleep on the bed?”

The lion-like man suddenly opened his eyes wide. “What?”

He didn’t mishear; he just thought he did.

Rosvitha bit her lip, her face flushed with embarrassment as she repeated, “I said, could you come sleep on the bed…”

Well, well, Miss Melkvi, who’s afraid of spiders, was looking pitiful indeed. It made one want to protect her—just kidding.

“I won’t,” Leon replied. “You were the one who said not to sleep on the bed earlier. The Silver Dragon Queen can’t go back on her word.”

Rosvitha pinched the corner of the blanket, trying to convince Leon in a different way. “You… you’re my prisoner of war, so you have to obey my orders. If I tell you to come sleep on the bed, you have to come.”

Leon saw through her tactics. “Nope, nope. There’s no reason in the world for a prisoner of war to sleep in the same bed as the queen. That would be completely absurd.”

Rosvitha was speechless. “Haven’t you slept on my bed enough times?”

“So now I’ve seen the light and turned over a new leaf. I’ve decided not to sleep in Queen Your Majesty’s bed anymore,” Leon said with a serious expression.

“You…!”

Why was this man so stubborn?

She had to keep grinding him down.

“Leon… Please, just come up and sleep tonight.”

Seeing Rosvitha so pitiful, Leon couldn’t bear it.

So he decided—

To continue torturing her.

Come on, opportunities to tease Rosvitha were becoming increasingly rare, and Leon had to cherish every chance!

“Well… I could come over, but I have a condition,” Leon said.

“What condition?”

“Call me ‘husband.'”

“…I won’t.”

“Oh, then goodnight.”

With that, Leon pulled the blanket over his head, turned around, leaving only his back facing Rosvitha.

“Leon!… Come on, please, I’m begging you.”

“Call~ me~ husband~ Otherwise, no deal.”

Rosvitha tightly gripped the blanket, her dragon pupils dilating with anger. This was a sign that her dragon blood was boiling.

As the saying goes, I can do this voluntarily, but you can’t command me to do it.

Without hesitation, Rosvitha threw off the blanket and, barefoot, strode purposefully toward the sofa.

Hearing the urgent footsteps, Leon turned around to see what was happening, but Rosvitha had already reached the sofa.

With a swift movement, she stepped onto the edge of the sofa and, with a powerful leap, squeezed her entire body between Leon and the back of the sofa.

Leon was left dumbfounded by the seamless agility of her movements. How did she manage to squeeze her 5’7″ frame with a 34E bust into such a narrow space? Were women made of water? Was Rosvitha a water dragon?

Shaking his head in disbelief, Leon asked, “What are you doing? Don’t you have your own bed?”

“If you won’t come, then I have no choice but to come over,” Rosvitha replied from within the blankets, her slender body pressed tightly against the back of the sofa.

“Leon, this is all your fault!”

“My… fault?” Leon was now in the classic male predicament of not knowing what he did wrong when his girlfriend was angry.

“Yes, it’s your fault for mentioning that damned spider! Otherwise, I would have already fallen asleep by now!”

“Well… that’s a colossal mistake on my part, then.”

“And you promised me that during my pregnancy, you would tolerate my mood swings!”

Leon sighed and glanced at the empty bed. He figured if he stole Rosvitha’s bed now, she would definitely follow him.

After all this fuss, it seemed like neither of them would be getting any sleep tonight.

“Alright then, let’s just both stay here,” Leon conceded.

He lay back, facing Rosvitha. The space on the sofa was too small to allow them to sit back to back. Their noses barely grazed each other, and their breaths lightly brushed each other’s faces.

Rosvitha glared at Leon, her expression full of indignation, while Leon looked helpless.

“Aren’t you scared now? If not, then sleep. I still have to teach Muen magic tomorrow,” Leon said, closing his eyes.

But Rosvitha still felt unsatisfied. Quietly under the covers, she reached out her hand and aimed it at Leon’s belly, pinching him hard—

Leon jerked in pain, almost falling off the sofa.

“You’ve got a problem, Mother Dragon, keep your hands to yourself!”

“I’m pregnant, so deal with it!”

“Oh, I can’t even control my temper, and I still can’t handle you?!”

Just as the couple was about to argue further on the sofa, the door lock suddenly rattled…
