For nearly a month, the little princess, ever craving new tastes, caused quite a stir at every mealtime. Her doting father, Emperor Yuwen Lan, carried her around almost every evening during dinner while Yanshu and the young crown prince ate first. Yuwen Lan would stroll around with his milky-scented daughter, trying to keep her entertained.
Finally, after much anticipation, the day came when the little girl reached four months old and could start eating solid foods.
On the first evening of her journey into the world of complementary foods, the entire family gathered at the dining table to witness the exciting moment.
The doting father, Yuwen Lan, personally placed the little princess on his lap and insisted that Yanshu feed her.
The moment the little girl spotted the bowl, her eyes lit up. When she saw the small wooden spoon in her mother’s hand, she became so excited that she reached out with her chubby little hands, eager to grab it. Yanshu, struggling to keep the spoon in control, finally managed to feed her the first spoonful of rice cereal.
The entire family leaned in to watch. After smacking her lips a couple of times, the little princess swallowed the cereal and let out two happy "Ah!" sounds, as if proudly announcing, I finally get to eat something other than milk!
—At long last, the Emperor could sit down and enjoy a proper family dinner with his wife and children.
