Eight knew that he was a created being.
Likewise, he knew that the memories he possessed were implanted memories.
However, if asked whether all of those memories were fake, he would have no choice but to shake his head.
The people of Earth had no need to implant false memories. In fact, that would have been a huge mistake. For a being that was artificially created, implanting fake memories could cause a dissonance in their psyche—potentially causing their self-awareness to shatter.
In other words, although Eight’s memories were implanted, they were still real memories. They were authentic experiences, lived by someone.
Among those memories, Eight often recalled one in particular—the words of a Casanova, a man who swapped women every night.
