Hyeseong headed to the police station today. He had received a summons to appear as a victim in the case where Kim Doo-sung had turned himself in. The investigation proceeded as a formality. It seemed Doo-sung had confessed everything properly without any other thoughts.

All Hyeseong had to do was simply confirm if Kim Doo-sung’s confession was correct and if there was anything more to testify about.

“Yes. Thank you for your cooperation,” the police officer told Hyeseong and Pilhyun that they were now free to go.

“What will happen to Kim Doo-sung now?” Hyeseong asked.

“Well, he will be dealt with according to the law. There is sufficient evidence, and he confessed himself, so it will be sent directly to trial. When we looked into this guy, turns out he’s been involved in illegal activities more than just a couple times. He was a gangster back in the day. Seems he planned this kidnapping quite meticulously too. He will likely receive a fairly long sentence.”

According to the police, Kim Doo-sung had been stalking Hyeseong. The identity of the gaze Hyeseong had felt in the neighborhood was none other than that bastard. After figuring out the whole story, Kim Doo-sung had stalked Hyeseong to obtain definitive evidence, and after seeing Hyeseong meet with Pilhyun and becoming certain, he had lost it and committed the kidnapping.

“Yes. Good work.” Hyeseong and Pilhyun slowly exited the police station. It was a truly satisfying conclusion. Through the kidnapping and assault case, everything Kim Doo-sung had done while running the loan shark office was exposed. The prosecutor couldn’t just sit still about this.

In fact, Hyeseong had intended to end things by just having Seo-hyeon take over the cleaning. But he was glad that things had gone further and Doo-sung would face legal judgment.

“We’ve been to the police station a lot because of Kim Doo-sung. By the way, Hyeseong, are your wounds okay?” Pilhyun asked.

“Yes, well, I’m continuing to disinfect them regularly.” Hyeseong touched his forehead. Of course he had almost been in big trouble, but he felt fortunate it ended at this level.

“What  about you Mr. Lee? You’re really okay, right?”

“Yes, I’m perfectly fine. Oh, and Hyeseong, here.” Mr. Lee took something out from inside his jacket and handed it over. It was a small box.

“It’s nothing much. It’s a necktie pin. You know that person who saved us last time? The one you said was your acquaintance. Please pass this on to him. I wanted to meet him in person to express my gratitude, but I don’t think I’ll have the chance.”

“Why this…?”

“It’s a gift of appreciation. It’s thanks to him that we’re alive. I thought I should give him something to show my gratitude. I asked Dohyun and he said the man is an office worker. So I picked out something suitable.”

Pilhyun smiled sheepishly. He was the type of person who kept treating Hyeseong, who had helped bring down Myeongpum Capital together with him, to meals and saying he would definitely repay this debt someday. Given Pilhyun’s personality, he must have thought he needed to repay Ihyeok in some way too.

“But Dohyun said that? That he’s an office worker?” Hyeseong smiled slightly, making Pilhyun’s eyes widen.

“Huh? Is that not right?”

“No, it’s correct. An office worker. I’ll make sure to pass it along well.”

Strictly speaking, it was true he was an office worker. Anyone who works at a company is an office worker. Dohyun probably had a hard time saying he was Taesung’s representative and gave a vague answer.

“Okay. Oh, and Hyeseong, I’ll give you an even better gift later, so look forward to it.”

“Then I’ll really be waiting in anticipation.”

Pilhyun said he had to prepare as his job interview was right around the corner and quickly headed home. Hyeseong also headed towards the bus stop.

“A gift…” Hyeseong stared at the small box in his hand. Indeed, when you receive help, it’s common sense to repay it accordingly.

And it was true that Hyeseong had received unbelievable help from Ihyeok. If he hadn’t shown up then, what would have happened was obvious. He probably wouldn’t have been able to even dream of standing here and walking with his body intact like this. He might have ended up physically disabled in many places like that bastard and felt like he wasn’t really living even if he survived, or he could have gone through a life and death crisis from excessive bleeding if he was found too late.

Now that his reason had fully returned and he thought about it, he felt so apologetic for getting angry at the hospital that day.

“I need to repay Dohyun too.” Hyeseong became lost in thought about how and in what way he should express his gratitude. There was the option of inviting the two of them and treating them to a big meal. But giving a tangible gift like Pilhyun did seemed better.

“Ah, come to think of it…” Hyeseong suddenly remembered something and took out his cell phone. He went into the calendar app he frequently used for work, looked at something, and became lost in thought again.

* * *

These days, Ihyeok had an unexpected concern. It was something he never even imagined he would worry about in his life.

“Ahjussi.”

“Hm?”

“You really don’t have to help us. It’s the weekend, just rest.”

Short-sleeved  t-shirt and comfortable pants. In order to survive under the intense sunlight, Hyeseong was wearing a cheap straw hat he had bought at the market.

Ihyeok couldn’t take his eyes off that appearance. It was because Hyeseong, who had only worn suits until just a few months ago, looked so cute dressed like that. Perhaps because his body line was pretty, Hyeseong pulled off anything he threw on like a model.

“It’s fine. I’ll help.” Ihyeok turned his head and squatted down in the vegetable garden to start pulling weeds.

That was Ihyeok’s biggest concern these days. The fact that unexpected thoughts and sensations were awakened when he looked at Hyeseong. Stray thoughts like cute or pretty kept rising up.

He often had these kinds of thoughts before too. He thought Hyeseong was the cutest and cherished him more than anyone. But even having the same thoughts now felt completely different emotionally, which was the problem.

Moreover, these days Hyeseong had been unconsciously emitting pheromones on many occasions. He probably wasn’t even aware of it himself. It couldn’t help but be quite a hardship for Ihyeok as an alpha.

Ihyeok was quite used to omega pheromones. He had dealt with guys trying to use it as a weapon against him day after day as he rose to higher positions. Shim Si-hyun was one of them. The reason Ihyeok had been able to remain firm without a single fatal scandal until now was because he had zero wavering when it came to the temptations of omegas.

No matter how fatally someone sprayed their pheromones, the thought that it was unpleasant came first, and he had never been shaken even once. But Hyeseong’s pheromones were different.

When he smelled the cozy scent of soap, his heart would flutter strangely and he would feel light as a feather like a child taking his first steps. It was truly a strange thing. It was peculiar to react to someone’s pheromones in the first place, but for it to be Hyeseong of all people…

“Then just do a little and go inside. Okay?” Hyeseong said.

“Okay.”

Hyeseong went to the opposite side of Ihyeok, who was avoiding his eyes, and started pulling weeds. Today’s task was thinning out other plants so that the nutrients of the planted seedlings wouldn’t go to other weeds.

Ihyeok, who was moving his gloved hands diligently, casually lifted his head. He saw Hyeseong concentrating on weed extermination in front. Soon, Hyeseong bent his body forward to reach out his hand. As a result, his loose, stretched-out  t-shirt also slid down slightly, revealing his fair skin underneath.

Hyeseong’s snow-white skin that resembled his eyes was slightly flushed, perhaps from the heat. Ihyeok unknowingly bit his lip hard and abruptly stood up from his spot.

“Ahjussi? Where are you going?”

“Going to drink some water.”

“Okay.”

Ihyeok walked with heavy steps past Dohyun who was in charge of one section and went inside the house. He felt like a pervert. Why the hell? Is it because of unsatisfied desire? Because he hasn’t relieved it? So he’s viewing a kid like that…

“This is crazy.”

But that didn’t make sense. If anything, Ihyeok had a naturally low sex drive. Although he was an alpha, he had very little interest in that area. It was also the reason he had been able to live without any problems despite not having a sex life until now.

So it seemed all the more like he had gone crazy. Ihyeok went back outside after cooling his head a bit.

“Hey hey! Park Boksil! You there!”

But unexpectedly, Dohyun and Hyeseong were in the middle of a chase with Boksil. Boksil had a hoe in his mouth and was running around here and there excitedly.

“Boksil, that’s dangerous.” Hyeseong was also running around between the seedlings with Dohyun to catch Boksil.

“What a mess.” Ihyeok smiled and watched the funny scene as it was. Indeed, they were kids, and in Ihyeok’s eyes right now, this scene looked like excited kindergarteners running around. The thrilled Boksil even dashed into the house’s yard. Hyeseong and Dohyun followed after him.

It was when Hyeseong moved his feet swiftly and reached out his hand to catch Boksil.

Boksil barked loudly once and jumped into the well on one side of the house’s yard, then pressed down hard on the pump where the water comes out. Then water flowed abundantly through the connected hose, and cool water poured out through the sprinkler.

It was a sprinkler connected to water the flower bed on the side. As it flipped over properly, water poured down like rain right on top of Hyeseong’s head who was right behind Boksil.

He managed to catch Boksil, but Hyeseong ended up completely drenched. Momentary silence took over. Dohyun, who had been following, also stopped in place and covered his mouth.

“Uwah! Hyeseong! Are you okay?” Dohyun, who belatedly shouted, quickly turned off the water.

“Ah, I’m all wet.”

The smile disappeared from Ihyeok’s mouth too as he watched the scene from the stairs of the house. Due to the wet  t-shirt, Hyeseong’s upper body was completely visible. It wasn’t just a glimpse.

Dohyun fretted, asking if Hyeseong was okay, and scolded Boksil. Hyeseong shook his head, letting the water flow down, not paying any attention to his completely soaked clothes.

“Ah, fuck.”

Ihyeok was the only one who felt like going crazy at the fully exposed skin.
