The Country Life Diary of a Gangster's Secretary - c87

Hyeseong slowly opened his eyes to the oncoming headache. He waited until the spinning vision calmed down a bit.

“Ugh, my head.”

What he saw with his vision that he finally stabilized was a familiar ceiling. The smell of a familiar room with traces of time on the wallpaper wafted strongly. Waking up the morning after drinking and seeing one’s own room first usually brought a great sense of stability.

But the relief was short-lived. Hyeseong suddenly froze at the feel of another warmth next to him. When he turned his head, he saw Ihyeok sleeping soundly with his eyes closed.

“…No way.”

So did they sleep in the same bed last night? How did this happen? Come to think of it, this wasn’t a headache from drunkenness. He didn’t drink enough to have a bad hangover. Moreover, yesterday, he barely moved the drunk Dohyun and Ihyeok, who had passed out after a bottle of ginseng wine due to a childish competition, to the room. And then…

〈Want to sleep together?〉

〈Let’s sleep together here. With me.〉

〈Come here.〉

Yesterday’s memory was revived along with the languid voice. The dark room, the smell of alcohol, Ihyeok’s loose black pupils, and the citrus scent.

That’s right. Yesterday, the room was filled with Ihyeok’s pheromones thanks to him being drunk and unable to control them. He had no memory of what happened after that.

He’s sure he lost consciousness while trying to leave, but how did he open his eyes on this bed?

“…..”

Hyeseong turned his head. Did Ihyeok move him here? No. That didn’t make sense. Wasn’t Ihyeok so drunk last night that he couldn’t control his pheromones?

Then the only explanation was that even while collapsing, his survival instinct to get on the soft bed to live was excessively manifested.

“This is crazy. Seriously.”

Even if he was drunk and covered in pheromones, trying to sleep in the same bed as Ihyeok while losing consciousness. This is why the unconscious is scary.

Hyeseong carefully raised his right hand and brought it over Ihyeok’s face. Then, he spread his palm wide and slowly shook it left and right.

Whew, a sigh came out naturally. Fortunately, he woke up before Ihyeok. He’s still in dreamland anyway, so if he sneaks out now, everything will be resolved.

The hand pulling back the blanket was extremely careful. Hyeseong slowly put his feet on the floor. After getting up, making as little noise as possible, he walked towards the door.

When Hyeseong was a student, his aunt, who was worried that he lived in the study room too much, watched over him for a while, telling him to stay home only in the evening, but Hyeseong ignored it and managed to sneak out of the house.

Yes, Hyeseong was now reviving the memory of that time and muffled his footsteps as much as possible.

And he finally succeeded in opening the door and coming out.

“Whew. Why am I trembling over this?”

It’s not like he’s filming a spy movie from the morning. Hyeseong headed to the bathroom, calming his startled heart.

The door closed and the room became quiet again.

Ihyeok opened his eyes as if he had been waiting. He slowly scanned the room that was left alone and soon blankly stared at the empty spot next to him.

“…..”

Ihyeok slowly reached out and caressed the place where Hyeseong had been. Then he pulled the blanket that Hyeseong had covered over to his side and buried his face in it. The familiar body scent and faint pheromone scent. Ihyeok inhaled Hyeseong’s traces without leaving anything behind.

“Ah, it’s nice.”

And so, using the drunken situation as a weapon, Ihyeok slept in more.

* * *

“I committed a deadly sin! Hyeseong!”

Dohyun bowed his head to Hyeseong as soon as he woke up, without even washing his face, with his hair sticking out in all directions. It was no less than the posture of a subject begging for forgiveness from the king.

“I was really fine until I drank the ginseng wine, you know? But I didn’t know it would be that strong.”

Hyeseong sat at the living room table and enjoyed reading, not even looking at Dohyun who was apologizing next to him.

“Yeah. I didn’t know moving two men alone would be such a difficult task either.”

“I, I’m really sorry….”

Hyeseong, who had been slowly turning the book pages, deliberately let out a big sigh. Then Dohyun’s shoulders trembled and he started to make tremendous excuses. He said he was curious because the owner said it was so strong, and that he didn’t intend to drink that much.

“Dohyun is like that, but Uncle, do you have nothing to say?”

Hyeseong, who had already taken his eyes off the book, turned his head and stared at the kitchen. There, Ihyeok was drinking coffee with a heavy expression.

“It’s all that guy’s fault.”

Ihyeok, perhaps feeling guilty, didn’t dare meet Hyeseong’s eyes and shifted all the blame onto his accomplice, Dohyun.

“Wow, CEO! You’re really not doing this. Trying to slip out alone as an adult!”

“Aren’t you an adult too? If you peel off the baby fat, we’re all the same adults. What.”

“Huh, yesterday you kept nagging that you shouldn’t do that to an adult! You also drank the ginseng wine together saying it’s good, Uncle!”

That’s when Hyeseong, who had been listening to the two’s childish story, suddenly slammed the book shut.

At the sudden noise, Dohyun bounced up from his seat like a spring, and Ihyeok’s eyebrows also twitched slightly.

“To me, you were both the same drunk men.”

“Sorry.”

In the end, apologies spilled out simultaneously from the two’s mouths. Hyeseong shook his head, saying it was done. What’s the point of continuing to dig up things that have already passed? All that’s left is himself holding a grudge.

Yesterday, he was so tired that he vowed to turn things upside down when today came, but in fact, waking up next to Ihyeok in the morning was so shocking that such a resolution had already faded long ago.

“Hye, Hyeseong. Where are you going?”

When Hyeseong pushed the book away and got up from his seat, Dohyun asked cautiously.

“I’m going to drink some coffee too.”

“Should I make it for you? I’ll make it amazingly with the perfect ratio….”

“It’s fine, so be quiet and just stay there.”

“Okay….”

Dohyun was busy hugging Bokshil with an almost crying face and complaining that the angry Hyeseong was too scary.

Hyeseong, who entered the kitchen, passed Ihyeok and headed towards the sink. He was thinking of grinding beans to drink, but he suddenly craved mix coffee, so he put water on the pot. After taking out the mix coffee from the drawer, he tried to find a cup to drink from, but it wasn’t visible.

It seemed to have been put up high after washing the dishes. He opened the shelf and reached for the teacup. Dohyun had put it quite high, so even on tiptoe, it was hard to reach.

“About yesterday.”

That’s when he felt a presence behind him, and soon a hand popped out. Ihyeok, who easily took out the cup, naturally approached next to Hyeseong who was saying thank you.

“Where did you sleep?”

“…What?”

Hyeseong’s hand, which had been tearing the coffee bag, paused slightly. Ihyeok didn’t miss that momentary wavering and took it all in with his eyes.

“When I woke up, I was using your bed.”

Hyeseong’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Ihyeok was blatantly not taking his eyes off Hyeseong. The pot that was boiling water began to make a noisy sound along with the steam. Hyeseong, who waited a moment, soon finished tearing the bag and poured the powder into the cup.

“Where would I sleep. I roughly slept in the living room.”

“Really?”

Yes, Hyeseong nodded with his usual indifferent expression. The sound of boiling water became even noisier. Along with the feeling that the temperature in the kitchen had suddenly risen, Hyeseong’s heart also pounded.

“Then did I dream?”

“What dream?”

“A dream of you sleeping next to me.”

Tuk.

The pot quieted down with the sound of the button going up.

Hyeseong couldn’t say a word. He should have been able to say it was a dog’s dream without any problem like usual, but strangely, his mouth wouldn’t open. Ihyeok, who read Hyeseong’s unstable gaze, raised the corners of his mouth satisfactorily.

“But I guess it was just a dream. The water is all boiled.”

“Ah, yes.”

Ihyeok tapped Hyeseong’s cheek and disappeared from the kitchen. When he poured the boiled water, the unique savory smell of coffee lingered at the tip of his nose. He could feel his face getting hot and his ears flushing. Hyeseong just rationalized that it was because the water was boiling.

* * *

Three days passed after the ginseng wine incident. Dohyun was busy packing his luggage from early morning to go up to Seoul as scheduled. Still, he had more luggage than when he came, having stayed here for over a month.

“Did you tell your mother?”

“Yeah. She asked if I had finally come to my senses?”

Hyeseong took Bokshil out to the yard. While Dohyun loaded the luggage in the trunk, Hyeseong sat Bokshil on the pet seat in the back seat.

“Be careful, Bokshil. You know you have to take good care of your lacking owner, right?”

Bokshil also seemed to know that she was leaving this house now, whining more than usual and rubbing her face against Hyeseong. Hyeseong finished saying goodbye to Bokshil and closed the door.

“Hyeseong, will you be okay alone?”

“Dohyun, if it weren’t for you, I would have been living alone leisurely and well originally.”

Ah, is that so? Dohyun, who lightly agreed, scratched his head with a silly smile.

“Still, it was fun living with you. It was nice and noisy. Come play again next time.”

“Hyeseong….”

Dohyun opened his eyes wide like Bokshil in the backseat and soon spread his arms and pulled Hyeseong into a hug.

“Be sure to contact me if anything happens! Contact me even if nothing happens!”

At first, Hyeseong frowned and tried to push Dohyun away, but later, he smiled faintly and patted his friend’s back.

“It’s not even far. Okay. I’ll contact you.”

Dohyun soon started sobbing. Hyeseong couldn’t understand why he was crying so sadly when it was only an hour’s drive from Seoul, but knowing Dohyun’s girly personality, he waited for him to calm down.

“Ah, and Hyeseong. If anything happens to the CEO, you have to let me know, okay?”

“Huh? What would happen with the CEO and me?”

He asked what that suddenly meant, but Dohyun just glossed over it, saying it was literally that, and immediately got into the driver’s seat.

“Drive safely.”

“Okay!”

And so, Dohyun’s car slowly left Hyeseong’s yard. Dohyun looked at Hyeseong, who was watching from behind until his car disappeared, through the rearview mirror and smiled pleasantly.

“Looking closely, Hyeseong is also quite dense.”

And Dohyun recalled. A few days ago, when Ihyeok pushed him away for hurting Hyeseong’s forehead. His careful touch examining Hyeseong’s forehead and the worried look that seemed like he would die.

“No matter how you look at it, those weren’t the eyes looking at a younger brother, right?”

Woof! Bokshil barked loudly as if answering.
