Chapter 5.1. I Knew I’m The New Mob Character
Yamiyo’s movements were neither particularly fast nor brimming with power. However, with just a light touch, I felt my arm roughly slashed by the dark sword.
“Ouch!”
Unable to endure the pain, I arched backward and rolled on the ground. To be honest, I had failed. I should’ve endured the pain and restrained Yamiyo. But I had only been in fistfights up until middle school. After that, I lived a quiet life until I became an old man. Even now, I haven’t been in many fights.
Yet here I was, sliced by a blade, used by a toddler, no less. There was no use in writhing in pain. Seizing that opportunity, Yamiyo jumped up with all her might. I rolled backward, but I quickly tried to stand. It was a good thing I had practiced somersaults. Even if I didn’t awaken to mana, at least I could save myself.
Placing my small hand on the floor, I struggled to stand up. Toddlers had poor balance due to their chubby bellies, so I tried to stand. My opponent was also a young girl with little strength, so she was doing her best to get up.
To an onlooker, it must have been a comical sight. Two toddlers sitting on the floor, curling their bodies, desperately trying to stand. It would be a heartwarming scene at a sports festival, with cheers of encouragement. But this was a matter of life and death for me.
I managed to stand up faster than Yamiyo and observed what had happened.
“[Create Magic Weapon], huh? It’s a magic that wasn’t in the game.”
In the novel, it was something like a finishing move, where the enemies who tried to kill the main characters would create weapons from their palms. In the game, it wasn’t implemented because there were equipments. Moreover, the sword in Yamiyo’s hand seemed to have a dark attribute.
“I see. Yamiyo awakened to the dark attribute, huh?”
Her hair is as glossy as wet crow feathers. Her beautiful, glistening eyes resembled black diamonds. I had thought she was diligently using hair treatments, but that wasn’t the case. She had awakened to the dark attribute, so her black hair and eyes were naturally beautiful.
I deeply regretted coming to her rescue. I shouldn’t have come. It was a mistake to underestimate a kindergartener. Regret often came too late, damn it.
Blood flowed from my slashed left arm. My clothes were soaked red, and I would likely bleed to death soon. I thought I could do something if I awaken my mana, but my body wasn’t brimming with unknown power. After all, I was just a mob character.
I could hear screams and shouts coming from around us. The teachers must have arrived. However, my ears were ringing, and I couldn’t hear well. This was bad.
“Don’t come here!”
I shouted to stop the teachers, who were approaching my blurred field of vision. If they underestimated a little girl, they would get sliced through like butter. Haven’t you heard that even butter has some resistance when people cut it? But I was wrong. Even butter offered some resistance. It’s actually difficult to slice through a lump of butter.
However, Yamiyo’s sword cut through my arm without any resistance. I hadn’t even realized that I got cut.
I hadn’t thought magic could be this powerful. Even the adults couldn’t have imagined it. In that case, the teachers would face a future where they would be sliced and lying on the ground.
“I won’t let that happen!”
I might die here. So, I decided to make one last act of filial piety and apologize for being an unfilial son who would die first.
I tried my best to stop Yamiyo. I was a brave child, you see.
“Take this!”
I grabbed a bucket under the row of sinks and threw it at Yamiyo. It was weak due to my toddler strength, but Yamiyo reacted and swung her sword.
When a bucket hits a sword, it gets deflected and falls.
However, the sword Yamiyo created was too sharp. It could effortlessly cut through a human arm, bone, and all.
The bucket split into 2, and in accordance with inertia, the divided parts struck Yamiyo. Inside it was some dirty water and a wet rag.
“Kiiiiii!”
With a high-pitched scream, Yamiyo struggled to remove the wet rag that had landed on her face. Then, I used a toddler’s step stool to climb onto the washing area. My breath was running out. My body was growing cold, but I clenched my teeth and glared at Yamiyo.
“Come at me, bro!”
“Diediedie!”
With my limited vocabulary, I taunted her. Whether Wraith thought she was being mocked or resented me for the wet rag, I couldn’t tell, but Yamiyo swung her sword chaotically and chased after me.
The concrete pedestal of the washing area got cut through effortlessly as if it had no resistance at all. I marveled at how it could achieve such sharpness, but I grinned like a beast, as I had expected it to be like this.
That’s because Yamiyo had also easily sliced through the faucet. While she cut cleanly, the water gushed out uncontrollably. It gushed out like a fountain, drenching Yamiyo.
“Ahh!”
Unable to withstand the forceful water attack, Wraith hurriedly dispelled her sword and tried to wipe her face, exactly as I had planned.
“Whoa!”
With a tearing sound, I endured the pain and leaped using all the strength in my legs. I threw my body as I jumped from the platform.
It was a kindergarten-level jump. It would be impossible to jump from such a height. However, it was a different story if I intended for my body to get shattered. I leaped at Yamiyo in one swift motion and tackled her.
“Gasp!”
“Gghh!”
The 2 kindergarten kids fell to the ground, and I covered Yamiyo like a cushion. Miraculously, it seemed to have worked, and while still in a daze, I reached out to restrain her arm.
If Yamiyo didn’t have a sword, even a teacher could have subdued her. That’s what I had thought. Honestly, I was losing consciousness due to blood loss, and my judgment was far from sound.
It’s because the true power of magic lay not in creating weapons.
I realized this when I saw Yamiyo, still struggling and flailing in desperation, point her finger at me. I had thought she was struggling in a panic, but when I saw the black aura gathering at her fingertip, my face turned pale.
“Seriously?”
It was magic. Of course, it was. Using magic attacks was the normal thing to do. As I was stricken with despair, the black aura that had condensed at the tip of Yamiyo’s finger momentarily flashed.
